The paper describes the global trends of population growth and urbanization,which have various impacts on the demand for,and supply of,agricultural *** then describes the extent and manifestations of poverty,and highlights the fact that globally,poverty is concentrated in rural ***,the fight against poverty needs to focus on rural areas, where most people reside,and on agriculture,which is the sector where most of them find *** is also the sector providing the staple foods that are key in poor people’s *** paper then describes the various links between agricultural growth and poverty reduction,and reviews the sources of growth in the coming *** land and water resources are limited,most growth will come from yield increases,which,in turn, require investment in agricultural research,support services,and infrastructure,as well as policy and institutional reform.
