Dietary supplementation of zinc oxide modulates intestinal functionality during the post-weaning period in clinically healthy piglets

Objective Cardiovascular diseases(CVD)are one of the most prevalent diseases in India amounting for nearly 30%of total deaths.A dearth of research on CVD risk scores in Indian population,limited performance of conventional risk scores and inability to reproduce the initial accuracies in randomised clinical trials has led to this study on large-scale patient *** objective is to develop an Artificial Intelligence-based Risk Score(AICVD)to predict CVD event(eg,acute myocardial infarction/acute coronary syndrome)in the next 10 years and compare the model with the Framingham Heart Risk Score(FHRS)and *** Our study included 31599 participants aged 18–91 years from 2009 to 2018 in six Apollo Hospitals in India.A multistep risk factors selection process using Spearman correlation coefficient and propensity score matching yielded 21 risk factors.A deep learning hazards model was built on risk factors to predict event occurrence(classification)and time to event(hazards model)using multilayered neural ***,the model was validated with independent retrospective cohorts of participants from India and the Netherlands and compared with FHRS and *** The deep learning hazards model had a good performance(area under the curve(AUC)0.853).Validation and comparative results showed AUCs between 0.84 and 0.92 with better positive likelihood ratio(AICVD−6.16 to FHRS−2.24 and QRisk3−1.16)and accuracy(AICVD−80.15%to FHRS 59.71%and QRisk351.57%).In the Netherlands cohort,AICVD also outperformed the Framingham Heart Risk Model(AUC−0.737 vs 0.707).Conclusions This study concludes that the novel AI-based CVD Risk Score has a higher predictive performance for cardiac events than conventional risk scores in Indian population.

The poinsettia thrips Echinothrips americanus Morgan is a relatively new pest that has spread rapidly worldwide and causes serious damage in both vegetable and ornamental *** this study,we investigated if and how effective this pest can be controlled in gerbera by the omnivorous predator Macrolophus pygmaeus(Rambur).Because herbivores on plants can interact through a shared predator,we also investigated how poinsettia thrips control is affected by the presence of the greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum(Westwood),a pest that commonly coexists with *** in *** laboratory studies,we found that the predator *** fed on both pests when offered *** tests showed a clear preference of the predators for plants infested by whiteflies but not by *** a greenhouse experiment,densities of both pests on single gerbera plants were reduced to very low levels by the predator,either with both pests present together or ***,predator‐mediated effects between whiteflies and thrips played only a minor *** plant feeding of the shared predator probably reduced the dependence of predator survival and reproduction on the densities of the two pests,thereby weakening potential predator‐mediated ***,*** is a good candidate for biological control of both pests in ***,further research is needed to investigate pest control at larger scales,when the pests can occur on different plants.

Race-specific disease resistance in plants is mediated by Resistance （R） proteins that recognize pathogen at- tack and initiate defence responses. Most R proteins contain a central NB-ARC domain and a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat （LRR） domain. We analyzed the intramolecular interaction of the LRR domain of tomato R protein Mi-1.2 with its N- terminus. We expressed the CC-NB-ARC and LRR parts in trans and analyzed functional transcomplementation and physical interactions. We show that these domains functionally transcomplement when expressed in trans. Known autoactivating LRR domain swaps were found to induce a hypersensitive response （HR） upon co-expression. Likewise, autoactivating mutants in the NB subdomain transcomplemented to induce HR. Point mutations in the ARC2 subdomain that induce strong autoactivation in the full-length Mi-1.2 protein, however, fail to induce HR in the transcomplementation assay, These data indicate distinct functions for the NB-ARC subdomains in induction of HR signalling. Furthermore, dissociation of the LRR is not required to release its negative regulation, as in all combinations of CC-NB-ARC and LRR domains tested, a physical interaction was observed.

利用激光扫描仪精确检测漏钢发生后坯壳的厚度。坯壳厚度的变化与结晶器热监测数据有关。详细的三维厚度扫描证实结晶器里可能发生坯壳厚度局部变化。结合结晶器热监测数据,厚度变化的根本原因被确认。以DSP高速薄板连铸机的两个漏钢实例为例,讨论了漏钢坯壳。第一次漏钢与宽边的大型夹杂物有关。第二次漏钢发生在窄边,与局部坯壳变薄和错误的锥度设定有关。这两种情况中,漏钢都与坯壳厚度的局部减少有关。结晶器相应位置的坯壳温度降低,说明钢水和结晶器铜板之间产生气隙或绝缘层。用CON1D计算,证实了绝缘层的存在。应用CON1D有助于更好地理解导致这类漏钢产生的原因或行为。

Radiation therapy(RT)is a treatment option for head and neck cancer(HNC),but 2%of RT patients may experience damage to the jawbone,resulting in osteoradionecrosis(ORN).The ORN can manifest years after RT *** in the local microchemical bone quality prior to the clinical manifestation of ORN could play a key role in ORN *** bone quality can be analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),that is applied to examine the effects of cancer,chemotherapy,and RT on the quality of human man-dibular *** mandibular bone samples were harvested from dental implant beds of 23 individuals,i.e.,patients with surgically and radiotherapeutically treated HNC(RT-HNC,n=7),surgically and radiochemotherapeutically treated HNC(CH-RT-HNC,n=3),only surgically treated HNC(SRg-HNC,n=4),and healthy controls(n=9).Infrared spectra were acquired from two representative regions of interest in cortical mandibular *** parameters,i.e.,mineral-to-matrix ratio(MM),carbonate-to-matrix ratio(CM),carbonate-to-phosphate ratio(CP),collagen maturity(cross-linking),crystallinity,acid phosphate substitu-tion(APS),and advanced glycation end products(AgEs),were analyzed for each *** I region of the CH-RT-HNC group differed from the control group in cluster analysis(p=0.02).Apart from a minor variation trend in collagen maturity(p=0.07),there were no other signif-icant differences between the ***,the effect of radiochemotherapy on mandibular bone composition should be further *** future trials,this study design is potential when the effects of the cancer burden and different HNC treatment modalities on jawbone composition are studied,in order to reveal ORN pathogenesis.
