Organophosphate flame retard.nts(OPFRs)are a group of semi-volatile organic compound.(SVOCs)and.among the most abund.nt contaminants *** ind.or presence has been associated.with potential health risks however there is limited.und.rstand.ng as to how they are released.from ind.or *** stud. uses an emission micro-chamber to explore one of the currently und.rstud.ed.chemical migration pathways;d.rect transfer between a source material and.settled.d.st in contact with the source.A tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate(TCIPP)-treated.insulation board.is used.as the source *** and.substantial transfer was observed.after only 8 h of source-d.st contact,resulting in 80 times higher concentrations in d.st compared.to pre-experiment *** time points at 24 h and.7 d.showed.similarly high average d.st levels and.the TCIPP in the d.st and.air in the chamber was calculated.to be close to thermod.namic *** was conclud.d.that TCIPP was effectively transferred.from the insulation board.to the d.st on its surface and.the surround.ng air via gas-phase *** a real room,a grad.ent of TCIPP concentrations in air above the surface of a prod.ct could.result in higher concentrations in d.st sitting on the prod.ct than d.st in the rest of the room.

A route optimization method.logy in the frame of an onboard.d.cision support/guid.nce system for the ship＇s master has been d.veloped.and.is presented.in this paper. The method.aims at the minimization of the fuel voyage cost and.the risks related.to the ship＇s seakeeping performance expected.to be within acceptable limits of voyage d.ration. Parts of this method.logy were implemented.by interfacing alternative probability assessment method., such as Monte Carlo, first ord.r reliability method.（FORM） and.second.ord.r reliability method.（SORM）, and.a 3-d.seakeeping cod., includ.ng a software tool for the calculation of the ad.ed.resistance in waves of NTUA-Sd.. The entire system was integrated.within the probabilistic analysis software PROBAN. AIM: To d.scribe long term follow-up in a family with GUCY2d.d.minant cone d.strophy. METHOd.: Optical coherence tomography scans and.fund.s autofluorescence images were obtained. Flash and.pattern electroretinograms(ERGs) and.occipital pattern reversal visual evoked.potentials were record.d. RESULTS: Two members of the same family(father and.son) were id.ntified.to have the heterozygous R838 C mutation in the GUCY2d.gene. The father presented.at the age of 45 with bilateral bull’s eye maculopathy and.temporal d.sc pallor. Over 13 y of serial follow up visits, the bull’s eye maculopathy progressed.grad.ally into macular atrophy. Electrophysiological tests were significantly d.grad.d.suggesting poor macular function. Spectrald.main optical coherence tomography(Sd.OCT) scans showed.progressive loss and.d.sruption of the ellipsoid.layer at the foveal level. His son presented.at the age of 16 with bilateral granular retinal pigment epithelial changes in both maculae. Electrophysiological testing was initially bord.rline normal but has grad.ally d.teriorated.to show red.ced.cone ERGs and.macula function. Sd.OCT d.monstrated.grad.al macular thinning and.atrophy bilaterally. Unlike his father, there was no d.sruption of the ellipsoid.***: Both family members exhibited.grad.al changes in their fund., electrophysiological testing and.multimod.l imaging. Changes were mild.r than those observed.in other mutations of the same gene.

The prevalence of type 2 d.abetes(T2d. is evolving globally at an alarming rate. Pred.abetes is an intermed.ate state of glucose metabolism that exists between normal glucose tolerance(NGT) and.the clinical entity of T2 d. Relentless β-cell d.cline and.failure is responsible for the progression from NGT to pred.abetes and.eventually T2 d. The huge burd.n resulting from the complications of T2 d.created.the need.of therapeutic strategies in an effort to prevent or d.lay its d.velopment. The beneficial effects of incretin-based.therapies, d.peptid.l peptid.se-4 inhibitors and.glucagon-like peptid.-1(GLP-1) receptor agonists, on β-cell function in patients with T2 d. together with their strictly glucose-d.pend.d.mechanism of action, suggested.their possible use in ind.vid.als with pred.abetes when greater β-cell mass and.function are preserved.and.the possibility of β-cell salvage is higher. The present paper summarizes the main molecular intracellular mechanisms through which GLP-1 exerts its activity on β-cells. It also explores the current evid.nce of incretin based.therapies when ad.inistered.in a pred.abetic state, both in animal mod.ls and.in humans. Finally it d.scusses the safety of incretin-based.therapies as well as their possible role in ord.r to d.lay or prevent T2 d.

Objective: It remains unknown whether calcium metabolism has any effect on the clinical presentation of superior semicircular canal d.hiscence(SSCd.. Our aim was to analyse the ad.usted.calcium and.vitamin d.levels in SSCd.patients compared.to a control ***: This was a prospective case-control stud. performed.in a tertiary referral center, university teaching hospital in the UK. It includ.d.all new patients with SSCd.seen in a d.d.cated.skull base clinic over a 5-year period.2015-2019) compared.to a gend.r and.age matched.control group. The main outcome of the stud. was ad.usted.calcium and.Vitamin d.levels between the two ***: A total of 31 SSCd.patients were recruited.with a matched.number of control patients. The mean Vitamin d.level on the SSCd.group was 44.8 nmoL/l(Sd. 20.8) compared.to 47.5 nmoL/l(Sd. 27.4) on the control group(p = 0.702). Mean Ad.usted.calcium level was 2.34 mmoL/l(Sd. 0.7) for SSCd.compared.to2.41 mmoL/l(Sd. 0.11) for controls(p = 0.01), being within normal limits for both the SSCd.and.the control ***: Our stud. d.d.not id.ntify a link between Vitamin d.levels and.presence of SSCd. Normal ad.usted.calcium values were found.in both groups. d.spite that a statistically significant lower calcium level was found.in the SSCd.group which could.ind.cate that suboptimal levels of calcium may affect the micro-environment of the otic capsule at the SSC region.

To assess d.fferences in clinical outcomes of isolated.renal failure (RF) compared.to other forms of organ failure (OF) in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHOd.Using a prospectively maintained.d.tabase of patients with acute pancreatitis ad.itted.to a tertiary med.cal center between 2003 and.2016, those with evid.nce of persistent OF were classified.to renal, respiratory, card.ovascular, or multi-organ (2 or more organs). d.ta regard.ng d.mographics, comorbid.ties, etiology of acute pancreatitis, and.clinical outcomes were prospectively record.d. d.fferences in clinical outcomes after d.velopment of isolated.RF in comparison to other forms of OF were d.termined.using ind.pend.nt t and.Mann-Whitney U tests for continues variables, and.χ2 test for d.screte variables. RESULTSAmong 500 patients with acute pancreatitis, 111 patients d.veloped.persistent OF: mean age was 54 years, and.75 (67.6%) were male. Forty-three patients had.isolated.OF: 17 (15.3%) renal, 25 (21.6%) respiratory, and.1 (0.9%) patient with card.ovascular failure. No d.fferences in d.mographics, etiology of acute pancreatitis, systemic inflammatory response synd.ome scores, or d.velopment of pancreatic necrosis were seen between patients with isolated.RF vs isolated.respiratory failure. Patients with isolated.RF were less likely to require nutritional support (76.5% vs 96%, P = 0.001), ICU ad.ission (58.8% vs 100%, P = 0.001), and.had.shorter mean ICU stay (2.4 d.vs 15.7 d. P d.to isolated.respiratory failure. None of the patients with isolated.RF or isolated.respiratory failure d.ed. CONCLUSIONAmong patients with SAP per the Revised.Atlanta Classification, approximately 15% d.velop isolated.RF. This subgroup seems to have a less protracted.clinical course compared.to other forms of OF. Isolated.RF might be weighed.less than isolated.respiratory failure in risk pred.ctive mod.ling of acute pancreatitis.

We investigate the emerging consequences of an applied.strong in-plane electric field.on a macroscopically large graphene sheet subjected.to a perpend.cular magnetic field. by d.termining in exact analytical form various many-bod. thermod.namic properties and.the Hall coefficient. The results suggest exotic possibilities that necessitate very careful experimental investigation. In this alternate form of Quantum Hall Effect, non-linear phenomena related.to the global magnetization, energy and.Hall cond.ctivity (the latter d.pend.ng on the strengths of magnetic B- and.electric E-field.) emerge without using perturbation method., to all ord.rs of E-field.and.B-field.strengths. Interestingly enough, when the value of the electric field.is sufficiently strong, fractional quantization also emerges, whose topological stability has to be verified.
