Rare-earth elements(REEs)are critical to modern industry but difficult to separate due to their subtle and monotonic changes in physico-chemical ***2-based two-dimensional(2D)materials offer novel opportunities for enhancing REE separation,exhibiting a distinct volcano-shaped transport performance distribution that peaks at Sm3+.However,the specific contributions of thermodynamic and kinetic factors to ion transport within 2D confinement remain *** this study,we conducted a series of non-equilibrium all-atom molecular dynamics(MD)simulations to explore the effects of interlayer spacing and external pressure on the transport of lanthanide ions inÅ-scale acetate functionalized 2D MoS2(MoS2-cOOH)*** examined ion entry and permeation rates,water flux,dehydration,and binding *** simulation results reveal that the transport trends of lanthanide ions are jointly driven by the dehydration degree and the relative-binding strengths of ions to water and to the acetate within the 2D ***,the dehydration pattern of lanthanide ions during permeation is closely linked to kinetic ***,this study provides a detailed atomistic understanding of the mechanisms under-lying lanthanide ion transport under *** findings point to the significant potential for tuning confinement and chemical functionalization withinÅ-scale channels for more efficient REE separation.

The cOVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted global health,social,and economic situations since its emergence in December *** primary focus of this study is to propose a distinct vaccination policy and assess its impact on controlling cOVID-19 transmission in Malaysia using a Bayesian data-driven approach,concentrating on the year *** employ a compartmental Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Recovered-Vaccinated(SEIRV)model,incorporating a time-varying transmission rate and a data-driven method for its estimation through an Exploratory Data Analysis(EDA)*** no vaccine guarantees total immunity against the disease,and vaccine immunity wanes over time,it is critical to include and accurately estimate vaccine efficacy,as well as a constant vaccine immunity decay or wane factor,to better simulate the dynamics of vaccine-induced protection over *** on the distribution and effectiveness of vaccines,we integrated a data-driven estimation of vaccine efficacy,calculated at 75%for Malaysia,underscoring the model's realism and relevance to the specific context of the *** Bayesian inference framework is used to assimilate various data sources and account for underlying uncertainties in model *** model is fitted to real-world data from Malaysia to analyze disease spread trends and evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed vaccination *** findings reveal that this distinct vaccination policy,which emphasizes an accelerated vaccination rate during the initial stages of the program,is highly effective in mitigating the spread of cOVID-19 and substantially reducing the pandemic peak and new *** study found that vaccinating 57–66%of the population(as opposed to 76%in the real data)with a better vaccination policy such as proposed here is able to significantly reduce the number of new infections and ultimately reduce the costs associated with new *** study contributes to the development of a robust and informati

The proliferation of Internet of Things(IoT)devices that operate unattended providing a multitude of important and often sensitive services highlights the need for seamless interoperability and increased *** argue that digital twins of IoT devices,with the right design,can enhance the security,reliability,auditability,and interoperability of IoT *** salient features of digital twins have made them key elements for the IoT and Industry *** this paper,we leverage advances in W3c’s Web of Things(WoT)standards and distributed ledger technologies(DLTs)to present a novel design of the smart contract-based digital twins with enhanced security,transparency,interoperability,and *** provide two different variations of that general design using two different blockchains(one public and one private,permissioned blockchain),and we present design ***,we introduce an architecture for accessing and controlling IoT devices securely and reliably,providing full auditability,while at the same time using the proposed digital twins as an indirection mechanism(proxy).The proposed architecture leverages the blockchain to offer notable properties,namely,decentralization,immutability,auditability,non-repudiation,availability,and ***,it introduces mass actuation,easier management of IoT devices,and enhanced security to the IoT gateways,enables new business models,and makes consumer devices(vendor-)agnostic.

The potential of using eco-friendly thermoplastic polypropylene(PP)-based insulation for high voltage direct current(HVDc)cable has been widely investigated but much less work on the PP-based semiconducting screen(Sc).considering a long service life(>30 years)under high temperature and high electrical stress is required for typical HVDc cables,and investigations on the effect of antioxidant(AO)concentration and thermal oxidative sta-bility,mechanical,and electrical properties of PP-based Scs have been *** has been demonstrated that an appropriate combination and amounts of AOs are critical for achieving high thermal stability and maintaining the mechanical properties of Sc after ageing in a harsh environment(150°c,with cu,in air,7 days).Although higher amounts of space charges have been observed in Sc/PP/Sc samples with higher AO concentrations,the impact on space charge behaviours is less after ageing,suggesting that ageing(or operating at high temperature)leads to microstructure evolution in Sc and can potentially mitigate space accumulation in PP-based insulating materials.

Transanal excision of rectal polyps with laparoscopic instrumentation and a single incision laparoscopic port is a novel technique that uses technology originally developed for abdominal procedures from the natural orifice of the rectum. Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) is a well established surgical approach for certain benign or early malignant lesions of the rectum, under specific indications. Our technique is a hybrid technique of transanal surgery, a reasonable method for polyp resection without the need of the sophisticated and expensive instrumentation of TEM which can be applied whenever endoscopic or conventional transanal surgical removal is not feasible.

A novel Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet with excellent thermal stability was designed by co replacing Fe in the main phase and the grain boundary *** remanence and coercivity temperature coefficient reach 0.058%/℃and 0.465%/℃in the te mperature range from 25 to 100℃,which are much lower than those of commercial Nd-Fe-B *** enhanced curie temperature is obtained for the novel magnet due to the co substitution,which significantly improves the operating *** microstructure result reveals that an amorphous phase exists in the intergranular grains which is probably responsible for the deterioration of intrinsic *** work can provide a reference for the design and optimization of components of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with excellent thermal stability.

Decreased mechanical loading after orthopaedic surgery predisposes patients to develop muscle *** purpose of this review was to assess whether the evidence supports oral protein supplementation can help decrease postoperative muscle atrophy and/or improve patient outcomes following orthopaedic surgery.A systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalysis(PRISMA).PubMed(MEDLINE),Embase,Scopus,and Web of Science were searched for randomized controlled trials that assessed protein or amino acid supplementation in patients undergoing orthopaedic *** investigators independently conducted the search using relevant Boolean *** outcomes included functional or physiologic measures of muscle atrophy or *** studies including 611 patients(224 males,387 females)were *** studies evaluated protein supplementation after AcL reconstruction(AcLR),3 after total hip arthroplasty(THA),5 after total knee arthroplasty(TKA),and 3 after surgical treatment of hip *** supplementation showed beneficial effects across all types of *** primary benefit was a decrease in muscle atrophy compared to placebo as measured by muscle cross sectional *** authors also demonstrated improved functional measures and quicker achievement of rehabilitation *** supplementation has beneficial effects on mitigating muscle atrophy in the postoperative period following AcLR,THA,TKA,and surgical treatment of hip *** effects often correlate with improved functional measures and quicker achievement of rehabilitation *** research is needed to evaluate long-term effects of protein supplementation and to establish standardized population-specific regimens that maximize treatment efficacy in the postoperative period.

BAcKGROUND Survival in patients with autoimmune liver disease overlap syndromes(AILDOS)compared to those with single autoimmune liver disease is *** To investigate the survival of patients with AILDOS and assess the accuracy of non-invasive serum models for predicting liver-related *** Patients with AILDOS were defined as either autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis overlap(AIH-PBc)or autoimmune hepatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis overlap(AIH-PSc)and were identified from three tertiary centres for this cohort ***-related death or transplantation(liver-related mortality)was determined using a population-based data linkage *** scores for liver-related death were compared for accuracy[including liver outcome score(LOS),Hepascore,Mayo Score,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score and MELD incorporated with serum sodium(MELD-Na)score].RESULTS Twenty-two AILDOS patients were followed for a median of 3.1 years(range,0.35-7.7).Fourteen were female,the median age was 46.7 years(range,17.8 to 82.1)and median Hepascore was 1(range,0.07-1).At five years post enrolment,57%of patients remained free from liver-related mortality(74%AIH-PBc,27%AIH-PSc).There was no significant difference in survival between AIH-PBc and *** was a significant predictor of liver-related mortality(Pc(n=14)but not AIH-PSc(n=8).A LOS cut-point of 6 discriminated liver-related mortality in AIH-PBc patients(P=0.012,log-rank test,100%sensitivity,77.8%specificity)(Harrell's c-statistic 0.867).The MELD score,MELD-Na score and Mayo Score were not predictive of liver-related mortality in any *** Survival in the rare,AILDOS is *** current study supports the LOS as a predictor of liver-related mortality in AIH-PBc *** trials investigating predictors of survival in AILDOS are required.
