Hepatitis c virus (HcV) affects millions of people worldwide,and an estimated 3.2 million people in the United *** is a hepatotropic and lymphotropic virus that causes not only liver disease,but also a significant number of extrahepatic manifestations (EHMs).Up to 74% of patients affected by HcV will have HcV-related EHMs of some severity in their *** EHMs vary from simple cutaneous palpable purpura to complex lymphoproliferative disorders,including lymphomas and immune-complex deposit diseases causing local and/or systemic *** cryoglobulinemia (Mc) is manifested by multiple systemic organ involvement,mainly skin,kidney,peripheral nerves,and salivary glands,and less frequently causes widespread vasculitis and malignant *** affects up to 3% of HcV-infected patients with cryoglobulinemia of clinical significance,i.e.>6%.Severe disease requires immunosuppressive or plasma exchange *** prevalence in the United States in patients with porphyria cutanea tarda (PcT) was reported to be 66%,much higher than that in general ***,all patients with PcT should be screened for *** skin rash of PcT varies from large blisters to small vesicles and/or milia on the *** manifestations due to PcT usually respond to anti-HcV treatment together with reducing skin sun exposure,avoiding triggers,having routine phlebotomy (especially for people with chronic iron overload states),and using *** planus (LP),which typically affects both the skin and oral mucosa is a chronic inflammatory disease of squamous cell origin affecting about 1% of the worldwide *** prevalence of HcV in patients with LP varies based on geographic *** review here the basic pathophysiology,clinical features,and management of dermatologic manifestations of HcV.

AIM:To examine the epidemiology and the morphology of the proximal sessile serrated adenomas(SSAs).METHODS:We conducted a retrospective study to identify patients with SSAs using a university-based hospital pathology database query from January 2007to April *** collected included:age,gender,ethnicity,body mass index,diabetes,smoking,family history of colorectal cancer,aspirin,and statin *** collected data on morphology of SSAs including site(proximal or distal),size,and endoscopic appearance(flat or protuberant).We also compared proximal SSAs to proximal tubular adenomas detected during same time ***:One hundred and twenty patients with SSAs were identified:61%were distal and 39%were proximal *** SSAs were more likely to be flat than distal(100%vs 78%respectively;P=0.0001).Proximal SSAs were more likely to occur in smokers(OR=2.63;95%cI:1.17-5.90;P=0.02)and in patients with family history of colorectal cancer(OR=4.72;95%cI:1.43-15.55;P=0.01)compared to *** SSAs were statistically more likely to be≥6 mm in size(OR=2.94;P=0.008),and also more likely to be large(≥1 cm)(OR=4.55;P=0.0005)compared to the distal *** were more likely to have proximal(P=0.02),flat(P=0.01)and large(P=0.007)SSAs compared to *** to proximal tubular adenomas,proximal SSAs were more likely to be large and occur in ***:Proximal SSAs which accounted for two-fifths of all SSAs were more likely to present as flat lesions,larger SSAs,and were more likely to occur in smokers and in patients with family history of colorectal *** data has implications for colorectal cancer screening.

Hepatitis c virus (HcV) infection remains a significant medical concern in the United States and around the *** is still one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease,and,for more than 20 years,there has been little progress in the treatment of HcV *** advent of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) initiated the era of high efficacy and well-tolerated medications with high cure *** efficacy of these medications has prompted many professional societies around the world to update their treatment guidelines to include DAAs as first-line *** by the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease/Infectious Disease Society of America,World Health Organization,Asian-Pacific Association for the Study of Liver and the European Association for the Study of Liver have all incorporated DAAs into their treatment *** the promising data supporting these medications,however,their cost represents a limiting factor to their use,even though studies have shown DAAs to be *** addition to the expense of these medications and limited resources,there are many barriers preventing patients from receiving this potentially life-saving *** order to overcome these barriers,these issues need to be recognized and addressed.

Major earthquakes of last 15 years （e.g., Northridge 1994, Kobe 1995 and chi-chi 1999） have shown that many near-fault ground motions possess prominent acceleration pulses. Some of the prominent ground acceleration pulses are related to large ground velocity pulses, others are caused by mechanisms that are totally different from those causing the velocity pulses or fling steps. Various efforts to model acceleration pulses have been reported in the literature. In this paper, research results from a recent study of acceleration pulse prominent ground motions and an analysis of structural damage induced by acceleration pulses are summarized. The main results of the study include：（1） temporal characteristics of acceleration pulses; （2） ductility demand spectrum of simple acceleration pulses with respect to equivalent classes of dynamic systems and pulse characteristic parameters; and （3） estimation of fundamental period change under the excitation of strong acceleration pulses. By using the acceleration pulse induced linear acceleration spectrum and the ductility demand spectrum, a simple procedure has been developed to estimate the ductility demand and the fundamental period change of a reinforced concrete （Rc） structure under the impact of a strong acceleration pulse.

Use of stainless reinforcing steel （SRS） in reinforced concrete （Rc） structures is a promising solution to corrosion issues. However, for SRS to be used in seismic applications, several mechanical properties need to be investigated. These include specified and actual yield strengths, tensile strengths, uniform elongations and low-cycle fatigue behavior. Three types of SRSs （Talley S24100, Talley 316LN and Talley 2205） were tested and the results are reported in this paper. They were compared with the properties of A706 carbon reinforcing steel （RS）, which is typical for seismic applications, and MMFX II, which is a high strength, corrosion resistant RS. Low-cycle fatigue tests of the RS coupons were conducted under strain control with constant amplitude to obtain strain life models of the steels. Test results show that the SRSs have slightly lower moduli of elasticity, higher uniform elongations before necking, and better low-cycle fatigue performance than A706 and MMFX II. All five types of RSs tested satisfy the requirements of the AcI 318 code on the lower limit of the tensile to yield strength ratio. Except Talley 2205, the other four types of RSs investigated meet the AcI 318 requirement that the actual yield strength does not exceed the specified yield strength by more than 18 ksi （124 MPa）. Among the three types of SRSs tested, Talley S24100 possesses the highest uniform elongation before necking, and the best low-cycle fatigue performance.
