CAPACITY AllOCATION AND COORDINATION ISSUES FOR THE TIMElY PROCESSING OF OUTSOURCED OPERATIONS

We consider dynamic capacity booking problems faced by multiple manufacturers each outsourcing certain operations to a common third-party firm. Each manufacturer, upon observing the current state of the third-party schedule, books capacity with the objective to jointly minimize holding costs that result from early deliveries, tardiness penalties due to late deliveries, and third-party capacity booking costs. When making a reservation, each manufacturer evaluates two alternative courses of action：（i） reserving capacity not yet utilized by other manufactures who booked earlier; or （ii） forming a coalition with a subset or all of other manufacturers to achieve a schedule minimizing coalition costs, i.e., a centralized schedule for that coalition. The latter practice surely benefits the coalition as a whole; however, some manufacturers may incur higher costs if their operations are either pushed back too much, or delivered too early. For this reason, a cost allocation scheme making each manufacturer no worse than they would be when acting differently （i.e., participating in a smaller coalition or acting on their own behalf,） must accompany centralized scheduling for the coalition. We model this relationship among the manufacturers as a cooperative game with transferable utility, and present optimal and/or heuristic algorithms to attain individually and eoalitionally optimal schedules as well as a linear program formulation to find a core allocation of the manufacturers＇ costs.

Feeding behavior and hormoligosis associated with imidacloprid resistance in Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used for managing the Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri Kuwayama,which serves as vector of phytopathogens causing citrus ***,development of resistance to neonicotinoids among populations of *** has coincided with occasional control failures in the *** objectives of this research were to(1)survey current levels of imidacloprid resistance in Florida citrus;(2)compare feeding behavior between imidacloprid-resistant and susceptible *** using electrical penetration graph recordings,and(3)investigate the possible amplification of insecticide hormoligosis associated with *** surveys confirmed that the susceptibility of *** populations to imidacloprid has decreased in commercial Florida citrus groves compared with a laboratory-susceptible *** 12 generations of selection,resistance to imidacloprid increased by 438 fold compared with the susceptible ***-susceptible *** feeding on citrus exhibited significantly more bouts associated with intercellular pathway(C),phloem penetration(D),phloem salivation(E1),and nonprobing(Np)activities than imidacloprid-resistant ***,there were no differences observed in the frequency or duration of phloem ingestion or xylem feeding between susceptible and resistant *** was no statistical difference in fecundity between resistant and susceptible ***,the fecundity of imidacloprid-susceptible female *** treated with a sublethal concentration of imidacloprid(lC_(25))increased significantly compared with controls,while such hormoligosis was less pronounced among imidacloprid-resistant *** results suggest that imidacloprid-resistant psyllids may cease feeding sooner than susceptible counterparts following sublethal exposure to this insecticide,indicative of a behavioral resistance mechanism.

BACKGROUND Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASlD)and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis(MASH)are a growing health burden across a significant portion of the global patient ***,these conditions seem to have disparate rates and outcomes between different ethnic *** combination of MASlD/MASH and type 2 diabetes increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and Hispanic patients experience the greatest burden,particularly those in South *** To compare outcomes between Hispanic and non-Hispanic patients in the United States,while further focusing on the Hispanic population within Southeast Texas to determine whether the documented disparity in outcomes is a function of geographical circumstance or if there is a more widespread reason that all clinicians must account for in prognostic *** This cohort analysis was conducted with data obtained from TriNetX,llC(“TriNetX”),a global federated health research network that provides access to deidentified medical records from healthcare organizations *** cohort networks were used:University of Texas Medical Branch(UTMB)hospital and the United States national database collective to determine whether disparities were related to geographic regions,like Southeast *** This study findings revealed Hispanics/latinos have a statistically significant higher occurrence of HCC,type 2 diabetes mellitus,and liver fibrosis/cirrhosis in both the United States and the UTMB Hispanic/latino *** mortality in Hispanics/latinos was lower within the United States group and not statistically elevated in the UTMB *** This would appear to support that Hispanic patients in Southeast Texas are not uniquely affected compared to the national Hispanic population.

The herd immunity against SARS-CoV-2 is continuously consolidated across the world during the ongoing ***,the potential function of the nonconserved epitopes in the reverse preexisting cross-reactivity induced by SARS-CoV-2 to other human coronaviruses is not well *** our research,we assessed T cell responses to both conserved and nonconserved peptides shared by SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV,identifying cross-reactive CD8^(+)T cell epitopes using enzyme-linked immunospot and intracellular cytokine staining ***,in vitro refolding and circular dichroism were performed to evaluate the thermal stability of the HlA/peptide ***,single-cell T cell receptor reservoir was analyzed based on tetramer ***,we discovered that cross-reactive T cells targeting SARS-CoV were present in individuals who had recovered from COVID-19,and identified SARS-CoV-2 CD8^(+)T cell epitopes spanning the major structural antigens.T cell responses induced by the nonconserved peptides between SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV were higher and played a dominant role in the cross-reactivity in COVID-19 ***-T cell reactivity was also observed within the identified series of CD8^(+)T cell *** representative immunodominant peptide pairs,although the HlA binding capacities for peptides from SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV were similar,the TCR repertoires recognizing these peptides were *** results could provide beneficial information for the development of peptide-based universal vaccines against coronaviruses.

【目的】黄龙病是柑橘最严重的传染性病害，柑橘木虱Diaphorina citri Kuwayama是黄龙病的媒介昆虫。与健康橘树相比，感染黄龙病的橘树对木虱的吸引作用显著增强，本研究目的是探明病树挥发物的改变是否与此现象有关。【方法】在前期分析健康和染病沙糖橘Citrus reticulate ***. Shatangju嫩梢挥发物成分变化的基础上，分别在室内外测定部分差异较大的化合物单体标样及其混合物对柑橘木虱的吸引效果。【结果】雌虫对α-蒎烯（1μl/ml）、γ-萜品烯（0.01μl/ml）和芳樟醇（0.1μl/ml）具有显著的正趋性，但对柠檬烯各浓度均未表现出明显的趋性；雄虫对4种单体标样所有浓度均未表现出显著的趋性。将各种化合物按其有效浓度混合后，雌虫对6种混合物均有显著的正趋性，其中，对γ-萜品烯（0.2μl/ml）+α-蒎烯（0.8μl/ml）+芳樟醇（0.3μl/ml）具有极显著正趋向选择；雄虫对4种混合物有显著的正趋性。将化合物单体及其混合物作为诱剂，在九里香Murraya paniculata l.上测定其诱集效果。结果表明，单一物质均无显著效果，但15种混合物中有5种诱到的木虱数量显著多于对照。将其中3种混合物γ-萜品烯（20μl/ml）+α-蒎烯（80μl/ml）+芳樟醇（30μl/ml）、γ-萜品烯（2μl/ml）+α-蒎烯（8μl/ml）+芳樟醇（3μl/ml）和γ-萜品烯（20μl/ml）+芳樟醇（30μl/ml）在橘园进行测试，结果表明，3种诱剂诱到的木虱数量均显著增加。【结论】α-蒎烯、γ-萜品烯含量增加可能是沙糖橘病树对木虱吸引作用增强的部分原因，这些物质有望用于制备柑橘木虱的引诱剂，但其最佳配比还有待进一步研究。

Infertility remains a significant problem for many couples. Approximately one in seven couples who attempt to conceive will fail to do so within 1 year. In about 65% of these cases, there is a male component of infertility.1 Despite normal semen parameters, the etiology of infertility remains uncertain in more than 50% of couples.2 Defects in sperm proteins and/ or structures may underlie certain cases of male infertility. Although many men would like to be called ＂Pop＂, ＂Dad＂, or ＂Papa＂, those who are classified with idiopathic male infertility have few options for becoming fathers. Recent studies by Aarabi et al.3 may open the door to new therapies.

Head trauma can cause transient elevation of intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma

AIM: To describe a newly-recognized entity, illustrated by five cases of glaucoma in whom trauma to the head, but not the eye, resulted in marked, transient elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP). METHODS: Retrospective case series. Chart review. RESUlTS: All five cases had a diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma prior to the experience of trauma to the head. All cases had an unusual elevation of IOP (around 70 percent) for days to weeks following the trauma, after which the IOP fell to pre-accident levels. No cause other than the trauma could be determined. CONClUSION: The relationship between head trauma and elevation of IOP appears real.

Thermomechanical analysis of long-term global modal and local deformation measurements of the Kishwaukee Bridge using the bootstrap

In this paper we present a comparative analysis of global frequency and local deformation data for a large concrete bridge. The asymptotic probability distributions of the central statistics are presented, and compared with empirical bootstrap estimates. Bootstrapped distributions are calculated from reference data obtained during 1999–2000 and used to develop change-point alarm criteria for the structure, using reasonable sensitivity measures developed from FEM simulations and structural analysis. The implications of the frequency data are discussed in conjunction with the strain and displacement measurements in order to discern if the load carrying capacity of the bridge has been affected. The critical need for more advanced temperature compensation models for large structures continually in thermal disequilibrium is discussed.
