SLC11A1 polymorphisms in inflammatory bowel disease and Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis status

AIM: To test for association of SLC11A1 with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) status in a Caucasian cohort. METHODS: Five hundred and seven Crohn's disease (CD) patients, 474 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, and 569 healthy controls were genotyped for SLC11A1 1730G>A and SLC11A1 469+14G>C using pre-designed TaqMan  SNP assays. χ 2 tests were applied to test for association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with disease, and the presence of MAP ***:SLC11A1 1730G>A and SLC11A 1469+14G>C were not associated with CD, UC, or IBD. The SLC11A1 1730A minor allele was over-represented in patients who did not require immunomodulator therapy (P = 0.002, OR: 0.29, 95% CI: 0.13-0.66). The frequency of the SLC11A1 469+14C allele was higher in the subset of study participants who tested positive for MAP DNA (P = 0.02, OR: 1.56, 95% CI: 1.06-2.29). No association of SLC11A1 1730G>A with MAP was ***: Although SLC11A1 was not associated with IBD, association with MAP suggests that SLC11A1 is important in determining susceptibility to bacteria implicated in the etiology of CD.

Primary and metastatic liver tumors are an increasing global health problem,with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)now being the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality *** treatment options for HCC remain limited,with Sorafenib as the only prospectively validated agent shown to increase overall *** resection and/or transplantation,locally ablative therapies and regional or locoregional therapies have filled the gap in liver tumor treatments,providing improved survival outcomes for both primary and metastatic *** invasive local therapies have an increasing role in the treatment of both primary and metastatic liver *** patients with low volume disease,these therapies have now been established into consensus practice *** review highlights technical aspects and outcomes of commonly utilized,minimally invasive local therapies including laparoscopic liver resection(LLR),radiofrequency ablation(RFA),microwave ablation(MwA),high-intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU),irreversible electroporation(IRE),and stereotactic body radiation therapy(SBRT).In addition,the role of combination treatment strategies utilizing these minimally invasive techniques is reviewed.

Accelerating voltage,electron beam current,welding speed constitutes the main electron beam welding process parameters,while the penetration depth and depth-width ratio are two of the most important characteristic parameters of the weld *** complex interactions exists between the five variables,so the analysis of a single process parameter on one of weld geometries is affected by the other process parameters,and the impact of these interference parameters should be excluded to find the real relationship between the variables where partial correlation analysis provides such a *** of the accelerating voltage,electron beam current,welding speed of electron beam welding process parameters on weld geometries is analyzed by using partial correlation *** priority order of adjustment of process parameters is obtained,namely:in order to obtain a larger depth-width ratio indicators,it should be taken firstly to increase the beam current and accelerating voltage,and then to raise the welding speed;in order to obtain greater penetration depth,it is preferred to increase the beam current,followed by increasing the accelerating voltage,and reducing the welding speed finally.

Mathematical models between surfacing welding properties of C, Cr, Mo, V, w alloy system and encode factors of alloy additives are established by test methods of advanced trial optimizing technology and computer assistant design (CAD). They help to draw unitary functions and binary isoclines diagrams through which the influence of encode factorial linearity, nonlinear effect and factors interaction of alloy additives on the performances of surfacing welding can be analyzed directly and quantitatively. Meanwhile, the performances of deposited metal can also be predicted according to the content of alloy additives.

we have proposed and demonstrated hybrid Al Ga In As/Si Fabry–Pérot(FP) lasers, with the FP cavity facet covered by the p-electrode metal for enhancing mode confinement. Continuous-wave lasing is obtained at room temperature with a threshold current of 45 m A for the hybrid FP laser with a cavity length of 415 μm and a width of 7 μm. Near-field optical microscope images indicate an efficient output emission from the underneath evanescently-coupled silicon waveguide. Furthermore, single-mode lasing with a side-mode suppression-ratio of29 d B and a threshold current of 16 m A is realized for the 150 μm-long hybrid FP laser.
