Dynamics of cooperative emissions in a cascade three-level molecular system driven by an ultrashort laser pulse

This paper investigates the dynamics of cooperative emissions in a cascade three-level system driven by an ultra, short laser pulse by solving numerically the full-wave Maxwell-Bloch equations. The 4, 4＇-bis（dimethylamino） stilbene molecule is used as the model molecule because of its strong two-photon absorption property. The two-colour cooperative emissions are studied as functions of molecular number density and dephasing rate of the dipole coherence. The propagation effects on the evolution of the cooperative radiations are also taken into account. The cooperative radiations are enhanced for large number density of the molecule, while the fast dephasing of the dipole coherence reduces the intensity of the cooperative radiations and delays the emission times or even inhibits the formation of the emissions. The delay time of the radiation decreases with the increase of the molecular number density and the propagation distance.

Raman Scattering at Resonant or Near-Resonant Conditions： A Generalized Short-Time Approximation

We investigate the dynamics of resonant Raman scattering in the course of the frequency de- tuning. The dephasing in the time domain makes the scattering fast when the photon energy is tuned from the absorption resonance. This makes frequency detuning to act as a camera shutter with a regulated scattering duration and provides a practical tool of controlling the scattering time in ordinary stationary measurements. The theory is applied to resonant Raman spectra of a couple of few-mode model systems and to trans-1,3,5-hexatriene and guanine-cytosine （G-C） Watson-Crick base pairs （DNA） molecules. Besides some particular physical effects, the regime of fast scattering leads to a simplification of the spectrum as well as to the scattering theory itself. Strong overtones appear in the Raman spectra when the photon frequency is tuned in the resonant region, while in the mode of fast scattering, the overtones are gradually quenched when the photon frequency is tuned more than one vibra- tional quantum below the first absorption resonance. The detuning from the resonant region thus leads to a strong purification of the Raman spectrum from the contamination by higher overtones and soft modes and purifies the spectrum also in terms of avoidance of dissociation and interfering fluorescence decay of the resonant state. This makes frequency detuning a very useful practical tool in the analysis of the resonant Raman spectra of complex systems and considerably improves the prospects for using the Raman effect for detection of foreign substances at ultra-low concentrations.

Composition and Molecular Weight Distribution of Albumin and Globulin Protein Isolates from Durum Wheat Genotypes

This paper attempts to evaluate the banding patterns of non-gluten protein isolates from the grain of durum wheat varieties. Under reduced condition, polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis has revealed a number of different sized albumin and globulin protein bands. The electrophoretic pattern of globulin showed more polymorphisms than that of albumin. High polymorphism, both in band intensity and occurrence, was observed between 15 kDa and 35 kDa. Most of the protein bands were scored in the range of 10 kDa and 85 kDa in the two protein fractions. At a cutoff point 2.5, cluster analysis based on the SDS-PAGE of globulin proteins classified the durum wheat varieties into three major family groups. Generally, the experiment showed the suitability and usefulness of globulin protein fractions as a genetic marker in discriminating durum wheat genotypes.
