Effect of Some h.terocyclic Derivatives on th. Removal of Copper Ions from Wastewater by Cementation

Removal of copper ions from copper sulph.te solutions on a rotating zinc rod in absence and in presence of 3(2h.-furanones and 4h.pyran-4-one derivatives was investigated experimentally. Variables studied were initial copper ions concentration, rotational speed of th. zinc rod, temperature and concentration of organic additives. It was found th.t cementation reaction is first order in presence and in absence of additives. Increasing concentration of initial copper ions, rotational speed of th. zinc rod and temperature were found to increase th. rate of cementation. In presence of organic additives an enh.ncement of th. rate was observed, except in presence of meth.xyfuranone th. rate was found to decrease by an amount ranging from 11.74% to 33.79%. Rate acceleration or inh.bition is associated mainly with.ch.nges in th. structure of th. additives as well as its concentration. Th. apparent activation energy for th. cementation process in presence of different additives was estimated and was found to be ranged between 11.8 kJ/mol and 25.95 kJ/mol. Th.se values suggest th.t th. copper removal process in presence of th.se additives is controlled by diffusion. A scanning electron microscopy study of copper deposits obtained in presence of tolylfuranone, ph.nylpyrone and meth.xyfuranone correlate with.th.ir beh.viour during th. kinetic study. Different reaction conditions and th. ph.sical properties of solutions were studied to obtain dimensionless correlation among all th.se parameters. It was found th.t on applying cementation reaction on a sample from industrial wastewater in presence of ph.nylpyrone about 91.9% of Cu2+ are removed.

Complexes of La （III）, Nd（III）, Gd（III）, Sm（III）, and Ce（IV） were synth.sized with.Sch.ff base [（3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-h.- droxybenzyl） amino] acetic acid （h.L）. Th. ligand and its complexes were synth.sized and ch.racterized based on th. following analysis： elemental analyses, FAB-mass, molar conductance measurements, magnetic measurement, UV-visible, IR, and NMR spectral studies. Th. spectral data revealed th.t th. ligand acted as a neutral tridentate coordinating to metal ion th.ough.ONO donor sequence. Th.rmal degradation studies of th. ligand and its complexes sh.wed th.t th. previous lanth.nide complexes were more th.rmally stable th.n th. ligand itself. Th. Sch.ff base and its complexes were screened for th.ir antibacterial （Esch.rich.a coli, Staph.lococcus aureus） and antifungal （Aspergillus flavus and Candida Albicans）.

Ph.tocatalytic parameters and kinetic study for degradation of dich.oroph.nol-indoph.nol (DCPIP) dye using h.gh.y active mesoporous TiO_2 nanoparticles

h.gh.y active mesoporous TiO_2 of about 6 nm crystal size and 280.7 m^2/g specific surface areas h.s been successfully synth.sized via controlled h.drolysis of titanium butoxide at acidic medium. It was ch.racterized by means of XRD（X-ray diffraction）, SEM（scanning electron microscopy）, TEM（transmission electron microscopy）, FT-IR（Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy）, TGA（th.rmogravimetric analysis）, DSC（differential scanning calorimetry） and BET（Brunauer–Emmett–Teller） surface area. Th. degradation of dich.oroph.nol-indoph.nol（DCPIP） under ultraviolet（UV） ligh. was studied to evaluate th. ph.tocatalytic activity of samples. Th. effects of different parameters and kinetics were investigated. Accordingly, a complete degradation of DCPIP dye was ach.eved by applying th. optimal operational conditions of 1 g/L of catalyst, 10 mg/L of DCPIP, ph.of 3 and th. temperature at 25 ± 3°C after 3 min under UV irradiation. Meanwh.le, th. Langmuir–h.nsh.lwood kinetic model described th. variations in pure ph.tocatalytic branch.in consistent with.a first order power law *** results proved th.t th. prepared TiO_2 nanoparticle h.s a ph.tocatalytic activity significantly better th.n Degussa P-25.

Th. design of an antenna requires a careful selection of its parameters to retain th. desired ***,th.s task is time-consuming wh.n th. traditional approach.s are employed,wh.ch.represents a significant *** th. oth.r h.nd,mach.ne learning presents an effective solution to th.s ch.llenge th.ough.a set of regression models th.t can robustly assist antenna designers to find out th. best set of design parameters to ach.eve th. intended *** th.s paper,we propose a novel approach.for accurately predicting th. bandwidth.of metamaterial *** proposed approach.is based on employing th. recently emerged guided wh.le optimization algorith. using adaptive particle swarm optimization to optimize th. parameters of th. long-sh.rt-term memory(LSTM)deep *** optimized network is used to retrieve th. metamaterial bandwidth.given a set of *** addition,th. superiority of th. proposed approach.is examined in terms of a comparison with.th. traditional multilayer perceptron(ML),Knearest neigh.ors(K-NN),and th. basic LSTM in terms of several evaluation criteria such.as root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and mean bias error(MBE).Experimental results sh.w th.t th. proposed approach.could ach.eve RMSE of(0.003018),MAE of(0.001871),and MBE of(0.000205).Th.se values are better th.n th.se of th. oth.r competing models.

Starting from 2-imino-N-ph.nyl-2h.ch.omene-3-carbox-amide, (1) a series of functionalized ch.omenes were ach.eved;such.as, 2-eth.xy-2,3-dih.dro-3-ph.nylch.omeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one (2), and 2-h.drazinyl-2,3-dih.dro-3-ph.nylch.omeno-[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one (3). Furth.rmore, reactions of (3) with.some of laboratory available compounds gave pyrazoles (4-9, 12, 13a, 13b), tetrazoles (11), 2-(2-benzylideneh.drazinyl)-3-ph.nyl-3h.ch.omeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin4(10h.-oneisoxazoles (14), 5-ch.oro-1-(4-oxo-3-ph.nyl-4,10-dih.dro-3h.ch.omeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-yl)-3-ph.nyl-2, 3-dih.dro-1h.pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (17), pyrimidines (28a, b), pyridines (29a-29e, 30, 33a, 33b), benzo[b][1, 4]oxazepin-2- amines (32a, b), 3-ch.oro-4-(2-imino-2h.ch.omen-3-yl)-1-ph.nyl-4-(ph.nylamino) azetidin-2-one (34a-34e) and 2-(2- imino-2h.ch.omen-3-yl)-3-ph.nyl-2-(ph.nyl amino)th.azolidin-4-onee (35a-35e). Th. structures of th.se compounds were establish.d by elemental analysis, IR, MS and NMR spectral analysis.

Dye removal using some surface modified silicate minerals

Th. objective of th.s work is to study th. efficiency of some surface modified ph.llosilicate minerals （bentonite and glauconite） in th. removal of dyes from textile waste water. It is found th.t complete dye removal was ach.eved by using 10-25g modified glauconite from solutions h.ving a dye concentration of 10-50 mg/L. Adsorption data were modeled using Langmuir, Freundlich. Temkin and Dubinin-Radush.evich.isoth.rms. Adsorption capacities and optimum adsorption isoth.rms were predicted by linear regression meth.d. Th. analysis of experimental isoth.rms sh.wed th.t Langmuir isoth.rm reasonably fit th. experimental data in th. studied concentration range for th. adsorption of dye onto glauconite mineral surface wh.re Freundlich.isoth.rm fit th. experimental data for th. adsorption of dve onto bentonite mineral surface.

AIM： TO establish.a cell culture system with.longterm replication of h.patitis C virus （h.V） genome and expression of viral antigens in vitro. METh.DS： h.pG2 cell line was tested for its susceptibility to h.V by incubation with.a serum from a patient with.ch.onic h.patitis C. Cells and supernatant were h.rvested at various time points during th. culture. Culture supernatant was tested for its ability to infect na＇ive cells. Th. presence of minus （antisense） RNA strand, and th. detection of core and E1 antigens in cells were examined by RT-PCR and immunological tech.iques （flow cytometry and Western blot） respectively. RESULTS： Th. intracellular h.V RNA was first detected on d 3 after infection and th.n could be consistently detected in both.cells and supernatant over a period of at least th.ee month.. Th. fresh.cells could be infected with.supernatant from cultured infected cells. Flow cytometric analysis sh.wed surface and intracellular h.V antigen expression using in h.use made polyclonal antibodies （anti-core, and anti-E1）. Western blot analysis sh.wed th. expression of a cluster of immunogenic peptides at molecular weigh.s extended between 31 and 45 kDa in an one month.old culture of infected cells wh.reas th.s cluster was undetectable in uninfected h.pG2 cells. CONCLUSION： h.pG2 cell line is not only susceptible to h.V infection but also supports its replication in vitro. Expression of h.V structural proteins can be detected in infected h.pG2 cells. Th.se cells are also capable of sh.dding viral particles into culture media wh.ch.in turn become infectious to uninfected cells.

Free radical scavenging activity of th.ee different flowers-h.biscus rosa-sinensis,Quisqualis indica and Senna surattensis

Objective:To evaluate th.ee flowers of h.biscus rosa-sinensis(***-sinensis),Quisqualis indica(***) and Senna surattensis(***) for th.ir antioxidant activity by different meth.ds in addition to total ph.nolic,flavonoid and pigment ***:Antioxidant activity of water,eth.nol and absolute eth.nol extracts of th.ee flowers; ***-sinensis,*** and *** was *** antioxidant activity was assessed by 1,1-diph.nyl-2-picrylh.drazyl free radical scavenging activity,ferrous ch.lating activity,reducing power,nitric oxide scavenging activity,h.droxyl radical scavenging activity as well as total antioxidant *** flavonoids,total ph.nols and total pigments including ch.oroph.lls and carotenoids were measured for th. th.ee ***:Th. results sh.wed th.t th. h.gh.st total antioxidant capacity at concentration of 500 mg/L was found in *** as 0.479 ± *** activity of ***,*** and *** flower extracts against 1,1-diph.nyl-2-picrylh.drazyl radical sh.wed th. h.gh.st activity of(90.20 ± 0.29)% with.500 mg/*** screening of th. th.ee flowers extracts were carried out for alkaloids,flavonoids,saponins,tannins,steroids,glycosides,terpenoids,amino acid and ***-sinensis sh.wed th. total ph.nolic in water extract of(235.77 ± 14.31) mg/100 g,th. oth.r two flowers *** and *** h.d th. total ph.nolic in eth.nol extracts of(937.70 ± 25.06) and(850.30 ± 13.81) mg/100 g,*** th. oth.r h.nd total flavonoids were identified in absolute eth.nol extracts in th. th.ee flowers[(32.83 ± 1.34),(49.24 ± 4.87) and(2.79 ± 0.23) mg/100 g,respectively].Conclusions:Th. extracts in th. constituents of th. th.ee flowers could be used as additives as supplement fractions in foods.

Th.s study investigates if th. anti-tumor effect of Pterostilbene in th. SKOV3 ovarian cancer(OC)cell line involves inh.bition of cell metabolism and tested in th.s effect involves modulating AMPK and Akt-induced regulation of ***,SKOV3 cells were cultured in th. h.midified conditions in DMEM media for 24 h.with.or with.ut increasing concentration of ***,th. cells were incubated with.Pterostilbene(IC_(50)=50μM)under similar conditions with.or with.ut pre-incubation with.Dorsomorph.n,an AMPK *** a dose-dependent manner,Pterostilbene inh.bited SKOV3 cell survival and increased th.ir lysate levels of lactate deh.drogenase(LDh.and single-stranded DNA(ssDNA).Wh.n SKOV3 cells were treated with.50μM Pterostilbene,Pterostilbene significantly suppressed cell migration and invasion,reduced lysate levels of lactic acid and th. optical density of Oil Red O staining,and increased lysate glucose *** also increased levels of malondialdeh.de(MDA),reactive oxygen species(ROS),and induced intrinsic cell apoptosis by upregulating protein levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 and reducing protein levels of ***,Pterostilbene reduced mRNA levels of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1(SREBP-1),fatty acid synth.se(FAS),acetyl CoA carboxylase-1(ACC-1),and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK).Furth.rmore,Pterostilbene increased th. protein levels of p-AMPK,p-p53,p-raptor,p-TSC-2,but significantly decreased protein levels of p-Akt,p-TSC-2,p-mTOR,p-S6K1,and *** with.Dorsomorph.n(CC)abolish.d all th. anti-tumorigenesis effects afforded by Pterostilbene and prevented Pterostilbene-induced ph.sph.rylation of Akt,p53,and *** conclusion,th. tumorsuppressive effect of Pterostilbene in SKOV3 cells involves th. induction of ROS and inh.bition of dysregulation cell metabolism mainly due to AMPK-induced Akt-dependent or independent suppression of mTOR.
