object.ves: Depressive disorders are a significant.public healt. issue. t.ey are prevalent. disabling, and oft.n chronic, wit. a high economic burden t. t.e societ.. Depressive illness is t.e most.common psychiat.ic disorder in HIV/AIDS wit. prevalence 2 t. 4 t.mes higher t.an t.e general populat.on. It.s st.ll quest.onable whet.er HIV relat.d depression is clinically different.from sero-posit.ve pat.ent. wit.out.depression. St.dies comparing t.e clinical feat.res of depressed and non-depressed People Living wit. HIV/AIDs are limit.d, hence t.e need for t.is st.dy. Met.ods: t.is was a hospit.l based, cross sect.onal, descript.ve st.dy of t.ree hundred adult.HIV/AIDS pat.ent. at.ending t.e HIV clinic of Kwara St.t. specialist.hospit.l, Sobi, Ilorin. t.e PHQ-9 was administ.red t. t.e respondent. t. screen for depression. A pre-t.st.d PHQ-9 quest.onnaire was used t. collect.dat.. Subject.who scored one and more were assessed clinically for depression. t.e t.ree keys of social det.rminant. of depression (SDS) were assessed and t.e associat.on wit. depression sought. Result.: one hundred and sevent. (56.7%) sat.sfied t.e crit.ria for a depressive disorder using t.e PHQ-9 score. Compared t. non-depressed sero-posit.ve pat.ent., depressed HIV pat.ent. were more likely t. be female, single, unemployed, wit. below average year of schooling, low social economic st.t.s, low social cohesion and more st.essful life event.. t.ey are more prone t. hopelessness, t.ought.of t.king life and plan t. commit.suicide. Conclusion: t.ese findings, show t.at.t.e clinical and associat.d feat.res of depression differ bet.een depressed and non-depressed sero-posit.ve subject., t.us requiring different.management.

In order t. guarant.e QoS across a slow-speed link (i.e. 1 MBPS), t.e double-buffer t.affic shaper was developed. In t.is paper, t.e buffer size dynamics of double-buffer was invest.gat.d. t.e arrival and depart.re of frames were modeled as a st.chast.c process. t.e t.ansit.on mat.ix for t.e process was generat.d and t.e st.t.onary probabilit. comput.d. A simulat.on program was writ.en in Mat.ab 7.0 t. monit.r t.e buffer fullness of t.e second buffer when a 3600 seconds H.263 encoder t.ace dat. was used as t.st.dat.. In t.e second buffer, it.was discovered t.at.over 90% of t.e play-t.me, t.e buffer occupancy was upper bounded at.300 frames per second and ut.lizat.on maint.ined below 30%.

A line of research t.nds t. reduce speed in t.e face of congest.on t.ereby penalizing it.elf. In t.is group are t.e window based congest.on cont.ol algorit.ms t.at.use t.e size of congest.on window t. det.rmine t.ansmission speed. t.e t.o main algorit.m of window based congest.on cont.ol are t.e congest.on avoidance and t.e slow st.rt. t.e aim of t.is st.dy is t. survey t.e various modificat.ons of window based congest.on cont.ol. Much work has been done on congest.on avoidance hence specific at.ent.on is placed on t.e slow st.rt.in order t. mot.vat. a new direct.on of research in net.ork ut.lit. maximizat.on. Mat.emat.cal modeling of t.e int.rnet.is discussed and proposals t. improve t.P st.rt.p were reviewed. t.ere are t.ree lines of research on t.e improvement.of slow st.rt. A group uses t.e est.mat.on of cert.in paramet.rs t. det.rmine init.al speed. t.e second group uses bandwidt. est.mat.on while t.e last.group uses explicit.request.for net.ork assist.nce t. det.rmine init.al st.rt.p speed. t.e problems of each proposal are analyzed and a mult.ple st.rt.p for t.P is proposed. Geochemical assessment.of groundwat.r samples from hand-dug wells wit.in t.e vicinit. of Aba-Eku dumpsit. was carried out.for domest.c and irrigat.on purposes. t.n groundwat.r samples were collect.d bot. in dry season and wet.season for analysis of physico-chemical paramet.rs: pH, EC, t.S,t.e result. of t.e analyses showed t.e groundwat.r samples t. be wit.in limit. of WHo/NSDWQ. However, higher values of concent.at.ons of t.e chemical const.t.ent. were not.ced in well 5 nearer t. t.e landfill. Int.rpret.t.on of Piper diagram showed CaHCo3 t. be dominant.in t.e area. Alkaline eart. met.ls ?and weak acids ?are dominant.cat.ons and anions over t.e alkalis and st.ong acids in bot. sessions. Groundwat.r in t.e st.dy area is of hard, fresh and alkaline nat.re. Assessment.for irrigat.on purpose showed t.at.most.of t.e wat.r samples were suit.ble for irrigat.on purpose except.in a few locat.ons.

Assessment.of Act.vit. Concent.at.on of Radionuclides in Sediment.from oil Producing Communit.es of Delt. St.t., Nigeria

Act.vit. concent.at.ons of t.ent.-six (26) samples of sediment.collect.d from rivers from eleven (11) oil-producing communit.es and t.o (2) non-oil producing communit.es in Delt. st.t. of Nigeria were st.died. Hyper Purit. Germanium (HPGe) Det.ct.r was used for count.ng and det.ct.on of radionuclide cont.nt.of all samples. Result. of t.e samples analysed showed t.at.t.e radioact.vit. concent.at.ons of K40, t.232 and U238 in t.e sediment.samples from oil-producing areas range from 32.47 Bq·kg-1 t. 525.1 Bq·kg-1 wit. an average of 302.15 Bq·kg-1, 6.31 Bq·kg-1 t. 19.33 Bq·kg-1 wit. an average of 11.66 Bq·kg-1, and 4.45 Bq·kg-1 t. 18.69 Bq·kg-1 wit. an average of 8.66 Bq·kg-1 respect.vely. Act.vit. concent.at.ons at.t.e cont.ol sit. ranged from 3.15 Bq·kg-1 t. 4.80 Bq·kg-1, 2.27 Bq·kg-1 t. 4.18 Bq·kg-1 and 1.15 Bq·kg-1 t. 1.76 Bq·kg-1 for K40, t.232 and U238. t.ese values are wit.in t.e world average;nat.ral radioact.vit. mapping of t.e st.dy area is carried out.using t.e Surfer soft.are. St.t.st.cal analysis of t.e result. showed t.at.t.ere is a significant.difference bet.een t.e radionuclide concent.at.ons of t.e sediment.samples from rivers in t.e oil producing sit. compared t. result. from non-oil producing communit.es, except.for one of t.e oil producing sit. samples (Idumuesah) which has values t.at.are close t. t.ose from t.e cont.ol sit.s for K40. t.e values of t.e radiological assessment.indices obt.ined were observed t. be wit.in t.e permissible maximum values;hence t.e radiat.on hazard at.st.dy areas are negligible. However, concent.at.on values of st.died radionuclide at.t.e oil-producing st.dy areas were observed t. be higher t.an values from t.e non-oil producing sit.s in most.cases. It.could t.erefore be report.d t.at.t.e operat.ons of t.e oil companies in Delt. st.t. of Nigeria may have cont.ibut.d t. t.e high radioact.vit. level of t.e river sediment..
