Rapid prediction models for 3D geometry of landslide dam considering the damming process

The geometry of a landslide dam plays a critical role in its stability and failure mode,and is influenced by the damming ***,there is a lack of understanding of the factors that affect the 3D geometry of a landslide *** address this gap,we conducted a study using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics numerical method to investigate the evolution of landslide *** study included 17 numerical simulations to examine the effects of several factors on the geometry of landslide dams,including valley inclination,sliding angle,landslide velocity,and landslide mass repose *** on this,three rapid prediction models were established for calculating the maximum height,the minimum height,and the maximum width of a landslide *** results show that the downstream width of a landslide dam remarkably increases with the valley *** position of the maximum dam height along the valley direction is independent of external factors and is always located in the middle of the landslide width *** contrast,that position of the maximum dam height across the valley direction is significantly influenced by the sliding angle and landslide *** validate our models,we applied them to three typical landslide dams and found that the calculated values of the landslide dam geometry were in good agreement with the actual *** findings of the current study provide a better understanding of the evolution and geometry of landslide dams,giving crucial guidance for the prediction and early warning of landslide dam disasters.

Photothermal material applied in environmental governance has attracted growing *** combining the Stober method and dopamine-triggered coating strategy,Co-Mn precursor was in situ incorporated into the poly dopamine(PDA)layer over the surface of silica ***,a unique photothermal nanosphere with SiO_(2)core and thin carbon layer and dual Co-Mn oxides shell was allowed to form by sequential heat treatment in the inert atmosphere(SiO_(2)@CoMn/C).The bimetallic fraction of Co/Mn in the carbon layer and post-treatment calcination temperature was comprehensively tuned to optimize the peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation performance of the *** state of bimetallic species was studied including their physical distribution,chemical valence,and interplay by various ***,Co oxides appear as dominant monodispersed nanoparticles(~10 nm),while Mn with cluster-like morphology is observed to uniformly distribute over thin-layer carbon and adhered to the surface of SiO_(2)nanospheres(~250 nm).The calcined temperature could tune the oxidized state of Co species,leading to the optimization of the catalytic performance of introduced dual metal *** a result,this obtained optimal catalyst integrated the advantages of exposed bimetallic CoMn species and N-doped thin carbon to deliver excellent catalytic PMS activation performance and photothermal synergetic catalytic mineralization ability for diversiform *** reactions condition controls and anion interference studies were conducted to identify the adaptability of the optimal ***,the application of solar-driven interfacial water evaporation using optimal SiO_(2)@Co_3Mn_1/C-600 catalyst was explored,showing a high water evaporation rate of 1.48 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1)and an efficiency of 95.2%,further revealing a comprehensive governance functionality of obtained material in the complex pollution condition.

Viral encephalitis continues to be a significant public health *** our previous study,we discovered a lower expression of antiviral factors,such as IFN-β,STING and IFI16,in the brain tissues of patients with Rasmussen's encephalitis(RE),a rare chronic neurological disorder often occurred in children,characterized by unihemispheric brain ***,a higher cumulative viral score of human herpes viruses(HHVs)was also found to have a significant positive correlation with the unihemispheric atrophy in *** I IFNs(IFN-I)signaling is essential for innate anti-infection response by binding to IFN-α/βreceptor(IFNAR).In this study,we infected WT mice and IFNAR-deficient A6 mice with herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)via periocular injection to investigate the relationship between IFN-I signaling and HHVs-induced brain *** all mice exhibited typical viral encephalitis lesions in their brains,HSV-induced epilepsy was only observed in A6 *** gene expression matrix,functional enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction network revealed four gene models that were positively related with HSV-induced ***,ten key genes with the highest scores were *** together,these findings indicate that intact IFN-I signaling can effectively limit HHVs induced neural symptoms and brain lesions,thereby confirming the positive correlation between IFN-I signaling repression and brain atrophy in RE and other HHVs encephalitis.

Dynamic behavior of new cutting subgrade structure of expensive soil under train loads coupling with service environment

Expansive soil is sensitive to dry and wet environment change. And the volume deformation and inflation pressure of expansive soil may induce to cause the deformation failure of roadbed or many other adverse effects. Aimed at a high-speed railway engineering practice in the newly built Yun-Gui high-speed railway expansive soil section in China, indoor vibration test on a full-scaled new cutting subgrade model is carried out. Based on the established track-subgrade-foundation of expansive soil system dynamic model test platform, dynamic behavior of new cutting subgrade structure under train loads coupling with extreme service environment(dry, raining, and groundwater level rising) is analyzed comparatively. The results show that the subgrade dynamic response is significantly influenced by service conditions and the dynamic response of subgrade gradually becomes stable with the increasing vibration times under various service environment conditions. The vertical dynamic soil stress is related with the depth in an approximate exponential function, and the curves of vertical dynamic soil stress present a "Z" shape distribution along transverse distance. The peak value of dynamic soil stress appears below the rail, and it increases more obviously near the roadbed surface. However, the peak value of dynamic soil stress is little affected outside 5.0 m of center line. The vibration velocity and acceleration are in a quadratic curve with an increase in depth, and the raining and groundwater level rising increase both the vibration velocity and the acceleration. The vertical deformations at different depths are differently affected by service environment in roadbed. The deformation of roadbed increases sharply when the water gets in the foundation of expansive soil, and more than 60% of the total deformation of roadbed occurs in expansive soil foundation. Preparation of La-Mg-Ni-Co-Al-based AB2-type alloys La0.8-xCe0.2YxMgNi3.4Co0.4Al0.1(x=0,0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20)was performed using melt spinning *** influences of spun rate and Y content on structures and electrochemical hydrogen storage characteristics were *** base phase LaMgNi4 and the lesser phase LaNis were detected by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The variations of spinning rate and Y content cause an obvious change in phase content,but without altering phase composition,namely,with spinning rate and Y content growing,LaMgNi4 phase content augments while LaNi5 content ***,melt spinning and the replacing La by Y refine the grains *** electrochemical tests show a favorable activation capability of the two kinds of alloys,and the maximum discharge capacities are achieved during the first *** capacity firstly increases and subsequently decreases with spinning rate rising,while cycle stability is ameliorated and discharge capacity decreases with Y addition *** is found that the amelioration of cycle stability is due to the enhancement of anti-pulverization,anti-corrosion and antioxidation abilities by both replacement of La with Y and melt ***,with the increase of Y addition and/or spinning rate,the electrochemical kinetics that contain charge transfer rate,limiting current density(IL),hydrogen diffusion coefficient(D)and the high rate discharge ability(HRD)firstly augment and then reduce.

Both element substitution and surface modification were utilized to enhance the electrochemical performances of Mg–Ni-based alloys. Nanocrystalline and amorphous -Mg1?xCexNi0.9Al0.1 (x?=?0–0.08)?+?50 wt.% Ni hydrogen storage alloys were synthesized through mechanical milling. The sample alloys show excellent activation property and have good electrochemi-cal hydrogenation and dehydrogenation property at normal temperature. The discharge capacity has a peak value with Ce content varying which is 461.6 mAh/g for 10-h milled alloy, while that of -Ce0.04 alloy augments from 352.6 to 536.9 mAh/g with milling time extending from 5 to 30 h. Cycle stability is conspicuously improved with Ce content and milling duration augment. To be specific, when cycle number is fixed at 100, the capacity retention rate augments from 41% to 72% after Ce dosage rising from 0 to 0.08 for the 10-h milled alloy and from 58% to 76% after milling duration extending from 5 to 30 h for -Ce0.06 alloy. Additionally, the electrochemical kinetics of the alloys own peak values with Ce proportion varying;however, they always rise with milling duration extending.

Background: The objective of this study was to determine the effects of supplementing Cu on growth performance, Cu metabolism and Cu-related enzyme activities of weanling pigs fed diets with two different Cu sources, and to estimate optimal Cu requirements and relative bioavailability from these two sources for ***: Weanling pigs were allocated to 14 treatments arranged factorially, including 6 added Cu levels(5, 10,20, 40, 80, 160 mg/kg), and 2 mineral sources(tribasic Cu chloride, TBCC and copper proteinate, Cu Pro), as well as one negative control(0 mg/kg added Cu level) and one maximum allowed level treatment(200 mg/kg TBCC) for the entire 38-d experiment. Growth performance, mineral status and enzyme activities were measured at the end of this ***: Increasing levels of Cu showed linear and quadratic responses(P 80 mg/kg) and Cu Pro(> 20 mg/kg) significantly decreased(P < 0.05) diarrhea incidence of weanling pigs. There were linear and quadratic increases(P < 0.01) in bile, hepatic,and intestinal Cu concentrations, fecal Cu contents, and plasma enzyme activities(alkaline phosphatase,ceruloplasmin, Cu, Zn-Superoxide dismutase(Cu/Zn SOD), and glutathione peroxidase), whereas plasma malondialdehyde decreased(P < 0.01) linearly and quadratically as dietary Cu level increased. Similarly, pigs fed Cu Pro absorbed and retained more Cu and excreted less Cu than those fed TBCC when supplemented 80 mg/kg and above. Optimal dietary Cu requirements for pigs from 28 to 66 d of age estimated based on fitted broken-line models(P < 0.05) of bile Cu, plasma Cu/Zn SOD and growth performance were 93–140 mg/kg from TBCC, and 63–98 mg/kg from Cu Pro accordingly. Caspases, a family of cysteine proteases, comprise of highly homologous enzymes that play an important role in apoptotic cell death. Caspase-3 shows key functions in apoptosis, mediating apoptotic cascade from the intrinsic and extrinsic activation pathways. Therefore, caspase-3 is an attractive target for therapeutic intervention. For instance, inhibitors of caspase-3 have been described as promising cardioprotectants, neuroprotectants and antiarthritic agents. A novel peptidomimetic inhibitor of caspase-3, has been designed, which still has the properties of a reversible inhibitor, while the P1 site at the C-terminal remains, and only L-amino acid has been replaced by D-amino acid. Also presented here is the synthesis of the inhibitor and its inhibitory activity against caspase-3, which was tested by the fluorescent activity assay.

SiC:Er_(2)O_(3) films with different ratios of SiC to SiC:Er_(2)O_(3) are deposited on p−type Si substrates by the magnetron co-sputtering technique,which was fully compatible with current Si processing *** room temperature 1.54µm photoluminescence(PL)from Er3+ions in the SiC:Er_(2)O_(3) films is observed and the PL intensity at 1.54µm is enhanced by about 40 times with increasing Er concentration in the films from 0.8 to 22 at.%under both direct and indirect *** 1.54µm electroluminescence from the structure of indium tin oxide(ITO)/n+−Si/SiC:Er_(2)O_(3)/p−Si with suitable ratios of SiC to SiC:Er_(2)O_(3)is measured under forward biases.
