Boron allotropes are known to be predominately constructed by icosahedral B_(12) cages,while icosahedral-B_(12) stuffing proves to effectively improve the stability of fullerene-like boron nanoclusters in the size range between B_(98)–B_(102).However,the thermodynamically most stable core-shell borospherenes with a B_(12) icosahedron at the center still remains *** on the structural motif of D5h C_(70) and extensive first-principles theory calculations,we predict herein the high-symmetry C5v B111+(3)which satisfies the Wade’s n+1 and n+2 skeletal electron counting rules exactly and the approximately electron sufficient Cs B_(111)(4),Cs B_(112)(5),Cs B_(113)(6),and Cs B_(114)(7)which are the most stable neutral core-shell borospherenes with a B_(12) icosahedron at the center reported to date in the size range between B_(68)–B_(130),with Cs B112(5)being the thermodynamically most favorite species in the *** orbital and bonding analyses indicate that these spherically aromatic species all contain a negatively charged icosahedral B_(122)−core at the center which exhibits typical superatomic behaviors in the electronic configuration of 1S21P61D101F8,with its dangling valences saturated by twelve radial B-B 2c-2eσbonds between the B_(12) inner core and the B_(70) outer *** infrared(IR)and Raman spectra of the concerned species are computationally simulated to facilitate their future characterizations.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet(AIS)has been losing ice mass and contributing to the rise in the global sea-level(GSL)for the last 4 decades,as quantified by using satellite *** developed a framework for implementing the state-of-the-art input-output(IO)method that has the advantage of explicit estimation of the mass balance of individual glaciers,basins and the *** estimated the mass balance of the AIS from 2013 to 2018 using improved observations and updated datasets recently made available,including annual ice flow velocity maps from the Inter-mission Time Series of Land Ice Velocity and Elevation(ITS_LIVE)dataset,the Bed Machine and the Princess Elizabeth Land(PEL)Earth System Science Data(ESSD)datasets,and the surface mass balance from the RACMO 2.3 *** example,using the improved ice thickness data,the proposed method for ice discharge estimation enables a 10%reduction of uncertainty in ice *** the period of 2013–2018,an ice discharge acceleration of 6.9±6.5 Gt yr^(–2)in West Antarctica(WA)was detected,which contributed significantly to the estimated mass loss of~1069 Gt(–178.2±108.9 Gt yr^(–1))in the *** the other hand,Queen Maud Land,East Antarctica(EA),showed clearly a mass gain rate of 56.0±10.0 Gt yr^(–1)due to the regional increase in surface mass *** results extended the estimation period by 3 years in comparison to the published study using the same annual velocity maps from the ITS_LIVE ***,our results,along with those from other studies using the IO method,reassures the acceleration of recent mass loss in WA and Wilkes Land in EA,which are caused by glacier thinning and ice shelf basal *** with the long-term mass balance record since 1979,our results suggest that the mass loss in AIS accelerated in the last *** developed framework can be modified for mass balance estimation of the AIS or for other ice sheets by using velocity maps from other satellite data or from differen

A high-precision fuzzy controller, based on a state observer, is developed for a class of nonlinear single-input-single-output(SISO) systems with system uncertainties and external disturbances. The state observer is introduced to resolve the problem of the unavailability of state variables. Assisted by the observer, a variable universe fuzzy system is designed to approximate the ideal control law. Being auxiliary components, a robust control term and a state feedback control term are designed to suppress the influence of the lumped uncertainties and remove the observation error, respectively. Different from the existing results, no additional dynamic order is required for the control design. All the adaptive laws and the control law are built based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach, and the signals involved in the closed-loop system are guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded. Simulation results performed on Duffing forced oscillation demonstrate the advantages of the proposed control scheme.

In the pharmaceutical industry,fluidized beds are typically used for pellets drying,coating and *** gas-solids flow characteristic in the process plays an important role to control the heat and mass transfer as well as the end-point product ***,it is necessary to investigate the flow characteristics based on advanced measurement *** this research,electrical capacitance tomography(ECT)sensor with eight electrodes was used to investigate the pharmaceutical fluidized bed drying process with different operation *** process parameters including solids concentration,particle moisture and capacitance signals in the process are given and analysed based on the ECT *** addition,the fluidized bed process with Wurster tube is also investigated based on this ECT *** effect of Wurster tube on the hydrodynamic behaviour and the dominant frequency spectrum distribution in the chamber were analysed based on fast Fourier *** results reveal that process moisture change can be addressed from the raw capacitance of adjacent electrode pair combined with calibration *** result also indicates that ECT technology can provide useful information for process monitor in a fluidized bed dryer.

Timely and cost-efficient multi-hop data delivery among vehicles is essential for vehicular ad-hoc networks （VANETs）, and various routing protocols are envisioned for infrastructure-less vehicle-to-vehicle （V2V） communications. Generally, when a packet （or a duplicate） is delivered out of the routing path, it will be dropped. However, we observe that these packets （or duplicates） may also be delivered much faster than the packets delivered along the original routing path. In this paper, we propose a novel tree based routing scheme （TBRS） for ultilizing the dropped packets in VANETs. In TBRS, the packet is delivered along a routing tree with the destination as its root. And when the packet is delivered out its routing tree, it won＇t be dropt immediately and will be delivered for a while if it can arrive at another branch of the tree. We conduct the extensive simulations to evaluate the performance of TBRS based on the road map of a real city collected from Google Earth. The simulation results show that TBRS can outperform the existing protocols, especially when the network resources are limited.

Application of SVM in Analyzing the Headstream of Gushing Water in Coal Mine

To recognize the presence of the headstream of gushing water in coal mines, the SVM (Support Vector Ma- chine) was proposed to analyze the gushing water based on hydrogeochemical methods. First, the SVM model for head- stream analysis was trained on the water sample of available headstreams, and then we used this to predict the unknown samples, which were validated in practice by comparing the predicted results with the actual results. The experimental results show that the SVM is a feasible method to differentiate between two headstreams and the H-SVMs (Hierachical SVMs) is a preferable way to deal with the problem of multi-headstreams. Compared with other methods, the SVM is based on a strict mathematical theory with a simple structure and good generalization properties. As well, the support vector W in the decision function can describe the weights of the recognition factors of water samples, which is very important for the analysis of headstreams of gushing water in coal mines.

Effect of Alum-Amended Litter and Stocking Density on Ammonia Release and Footpad and Hock Dermatitis of Broilers

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of alum on ammonia emission,live performance,and health of *** experiment 1,the effect of alum （0,2,and 4%） supplementation on the emission of ammonia was *** effects of alum-treated litter and stocking density （12,16,and 20 birds m-2） on the live performance and incidence of footpad and hock dermatitis were investigated in experiment *** supplementation in chicken excreta significantly decreased pH from 8.06 to 5.27 and 3.62 by 2 and 4% alum treatments,*** emission rate was reduced 73.0 and 75.8% by 2 and 4% alum treatments,*** suppressed litter urease activity was detected in 4% alum ***-amended litter （1 kg m-2） decreased atmosphere ammonia concentrations by 30% in broiler ***-amended litter maintained a lower pH until 35 d of *** weight （BW） gain was decreased by alum treatment in the period of 4-7 wk of *** stocking density （20 birds m-2） increased BW gain in the first 3 wk of age but decreased BW gain during the period of 4-7 wk of *** alum nor stocking density treatments had a significant effect on feed intake and feed ***-treated litter had no detrimental effect on the development of footpad and hock *** contrast,high stocking density （20 bird m-2） increased the incidence of footpad and hock *** result suggests that the decreased litter pH and suppressed bacterial urease activity by alum treatment is responsible for the decreased ammonia *** high stocking density,the increased litter moisture content should be responsible,at least partially,for the development of footpad and hock lesions.

Ptychography is a diffraction-based X-ray microscopy technique in which an extended sample is scanned by a coherent beam with overlapped illuminated areas and complex transmission function of the sample is obtained by applying iterative phase retrieval algorithms to the diffraction patterns recorded at each scanned *** permits quantitatively imaging of non-crystalline specimens at a resolution limited only by the X-ray wavelength and the maximal scattering angle *** this paper,the development of soft X-ray ptychography method at the BL08U1 A beamline of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility is *** experimental setup,experimental parameters selection criteria,and post-experimental data analyzing procedures are presented in detail with a prospect of high-resolution image reconstruction in real *** performance of this newly implemented method is demonstrated through the measurements of a resolution test pattern and two real samples:Pt-Co alloy nanoparticles and a breast cancer *** results indicate that strong scattering specimens can be reconstructed to sub-20 nm resolution,while a sub-25 nm resolution for biological specimens can be achieved.

Experimental study on combustion characteristics of municipal solid waste

As incineration provides a relatively safe means of disposal, significant reduction of weight and volume, and energy recovery from the waste, it was adopted by many countries. For the experimental investigation on the combustion characteristics of municipal solid waste(MSW), a lab scale fluidized bed facility was constructed. Many kinds of combustion runs were conducted in this fluidized bed combustion facility. The examined parameters were bed temperature(773 to 1143K), form of fuels (scrap or whole), moisture of fuels and so on. Concentration of CO 2,CO,SO 2, O 2 and NOx in the flue gas were monitored and recorded every 5 seconds. The temperatures along the reactor are recorded every 10 seconds. Experimental results were given and analyzed.
