The aims of this study are to determine the population genetic structure of Rhizoctonia solani,associated with potato,and to assess its resistance degree to pencycuron and thiabendazole fungicides.A total of 57 strains of *** were isolated from different potato crop fields in Mexico,and were classified according to their anastomosis group(Ag)using the polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP)-based ***,the amplified fragments were digested with four different endonucleases(Mse I,Ava II,Mun I and Hinc II).The Repetitive Element Sequence-Based PCR(rep-PCR)technique was used to determine the genetic diversity in *** *** obtained by PCR-RFLP showed that 81%of the isolates were identified as belonging to Ag-3 group,14%to Ag1-1B and 5%to Ag-11 *** response to fungicides inhibition,IC_(50)between 0.014-0.039 mg a.i./L for pencycuron,and 0.82 to 2.91 for thiabendazole were determined,This IC_(50)value showed that the resistance factor(RF)values ranged from 1.4 to 3.945 and 0.27 to 0.97,respectively;this tendency suggests that isolates are susceptible to *** Ag groups showed a heterogeneous resistance to pencycuron and thiabendazole,being more tolerant to these fungicides Ag1-1B and Ag-11 *** genetic analysis shows a low genetic diversity among(P-value 0.3225)and within(P-value 0.3275)populations;this can indicate a clonal reproduction and little parasexual cycle among the analyzed isolations.

The effect of electrical current on lubricant film thickness in boundary and mixed lubrication contacts measured with ultrasound

This work explores experimentally the effects of DC electrical currents on lubricant film thickness alteration in lubricated sliding steel contacts in the boundary and mixed regime as measured by *** experiments were performed in a two-electrode cell-based pin-on-disk tester instrumented with ultrasonic *** and electrified tribological tests were conducted on steel flat-on-flat contacts under various speeds and loads using both a mineral base oil and a gear *** thickness,coefficient of friction(CoF),and electrical contact resistance(ECR)were measured during short experiments(30 s)in unelectrified and electrified(1.5 and 3 A)*** results suggest that film thickness,CoF,and all ECR are altered by passing DC currents through the *** particular,film thickness increased and decreased,respectively,by applying electricity at the different speeds and loads *** alterations were majorly ascribed to oil viscosity decrease by local heat and surface oxidation caused by electrical discharge and break down at the interface.

BACKgROUND With an ongoing demand for transplantable organs,optimization of donor management protocols,specifically in trauma populations,is important for obta-ining a high yield of viable organs per *** management of brain-dead potential organ donors(BPODs)is controversial,leading to heterogeneous clinical management *** studies have shown that when levo-thyroxine was combined with other treatments,including steroids,vasopressin,and insulin,BPODs had better organ recovery and survival outcomes were increased for transplant *** To determine if levothyroxine use in combination with steroids in BPODs increased the number of organs donated in trauma *** A retrospective review of adult BPODs from a single level 1 trauma center over ten years was *** criteria included patients who were not solid organ donors,patients who were not declared brain dead(donation after circulatory death),and patients who did not receive steroids in their hospital *** and steroid administration,the number of organs donated,the types of organs donated,and demographic information were *** analyses were performed with Pgroup)vs 19(22%)receiving steroids without levothyroxine(ST group).No differences were observed between the groups for gender,race,pertinent injury factors,age,or other hormone therapies used(P>0.05).In the ST/LT group,68.1%(n=47)donated a high yield(3-5)of organ types per donor compared to 42.1%(n=8)in the ST group(P=0.038).There was no difference in the total number of organ types donated between the groups(P=0.068).CONCLUSION This study suggests that combining levothyroxine and steroid administration increases high-yield organ donation per donor in BPODs in the trauma patient *** to this study include

Root Sprouts of Domesticated Phaseolus coccineus L. Overwinter Plants and the Environment at Its Collection Sites

Buds emerge from the roots of domesticated runner bean plants (Phaseolus coccineus L.) as sprouts and give the crop its persistence. This particularity of the species seems to be associated with the environment where the species was cultivated during long time. Data on regrowth traits were recorded on 70 accessions of domesticated P. coccineus after overwintering at a site in the central highlands of Mexico. The characteristics recorded included fresh weight of vegetative regrowth, root length, root crown diameter, and diameter of the main root. Most accessions that sprout the following spring, after the grain harvest of the previous year, come from temperate and semi-cold sites with cambisol and andosol soils in mixed Quercus pine forest and high mountain fir trees. Those that do not sprout are from sites of semiarid temperate climate, haplic phaeozem soil in shrub grasslands with deciduous broadleaved trees, and semiwarm subhumid climate, eutrophic regosol soil in deciduous broadleaved forest. Two types of roots were differentiated: branched and thickened taproots, also associated with a different climate, and the type of soil of the collection sites.

To the Editor,Sarcoidosis is a disease known for over a century and remains enigmatic in etiology and pathophysiology.1 While the pulmonary manifestation prevails in more than 90%of cases,sarcoidosis can affect any ***,it targets the eyes,skin,lymph nodes,and,in rare instances,the liver and spleen.2 The development of the disease is significantly influenced by genetic and environmental factors,as well as gene variations on chromosome ***,first-degree relatives of patients have a heightened risk factor of *** adverse prognostic factors involve being of Black race,female gender,and having a lower *** increased incidence of sarcoidosis among firefighters who responded to the 9/11 disaster highlighted environmental triggers,including agricultural employment,metalworking,firefighting,exposure to inorganic and silica dust,and handling building supplies.1 Clinical symptoms can vary widely depending on the affected *** often relies on characteristic chest radiography findings,but approximately 10%of patients show noncaseating granulomas on biopsy without pulmonary abnormalities.2 Herein,we present a unique case of multiorgan sarcoidosis,where the sole manifestations were severe thrombocytopenia,weight loss,and a history of cerebral vascular events.

There has been an increasing prevalence of lymphogranuloma venereum(LgV) or Chlamydia trachomatis(***) cases among the men who have sex with men(MSM) population,particularly in Europe and North *** cases may present with an incomplete or undisclosed history and proctosigmoiditis without characteristic adenopathy *** the initial evaluation and colonoscopy,there is a strong clinical and endoscopic suspicion of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) by virtue of presentation and endoscopic and histological *** diagnosis of IBD is subsequently modified to LgV proctosigmoiditis when one or more of the following transpire:(1) there is failure of response to IBD therapy;(2) additional components of history(MSM/travel) may be identified;(3) return of initially performed Chlamydia antibody test is positive;and(4) response to antibiotics effective against *** describe three such cases initially suspectedto be an inflammatory bowel disease and subsequently identified as *** proctosigmoiditis.

Curvature effects on electric-double-layer capacitance

Understanding the microscopic structure and thermodynamic properties of electrode/electrolyte interfaces is central to the rational design of electric-double-layer capacitors(EDLCs).Whereas practical applications often entail electrodes with complicated pore structures,theoretical studies are mostly restricted to EDLCs of simple geometry such as planar or slit pores ignoring the curvature effects of the electrode *** gaps exist regarding the EDLC performance and the interfacial *** the classical density functional theory(CDFT)is used to study the capacitance and interfacial behavior of spherical electric double layers within a coarse-grained *** capacitive performance is associated with electrode curvature,surface potential,and electrolyte concentration and can be correlated with a regression-tree(RT)*** combination of CDFT with machine-learning methods provides a promising quantitative framework useful for the computational screening of porous electrodes and novel electrolytes.

A wall-climbing inspection robot has been designed to climb on safety-critical concrete structures by adhering to reinforcement steel bars(rebars)using permanent magnets to generate the adhesion *** and experimental validation have been performed to determine the optimum flux focusing magnet configurations with the robot operating on 30–35 mm of concrete cover over rebars arranged in different *** goal of adhesion force optimization is to be able to carry a ground-penetrating radar(gPR)sensor which detects rebar corrosion,concrete delamination,and concrete cover *** autonomous robot uses an ultra-wide band localization system and gPR data to control its motion trajectories to avoid regions where there is an insufficient density of *** testing(NDT)inspection data acquired by gPR are transmitted wirelessly to a ground station for processing and monitoring by NDT technicians.
