Modern-day microtomy requires high precision equipment to thinly section biological *** sectioned tissue must be of good quality not showing cutting tracks or so-called *** quality of these sections is dependent on the blade wear,which is related to the hardness of the tissue sample,cutting angle and cutting speed.A test rig has been designed and manufactured to allow these parameters to be *** has allowed for the blade wear to be analysed and quantified,and this has been completed for both ultrasonically assisted and conventional *** obtained results showed a 25.2%decrease in average blade roughness after 38 cuts when using the ultrasonically assisted cutting *** data also showed no adverse effect on the quality of the slides produced when using this cutting ***,the cutting force measured for both cutting regimes showed that ultrasonically assisted cutting required less force compared to conventional *** the reduction of surface roughness and force,it is possible to state that ultrasonically assisted cutting reduces the wear of the blade,thereby increasing the life of the *** increase of just 10%in blade life would yield a cost saving of approximately 25%thereby reducing the environmental and financial impact of microtomy.

The style of active tectonic on the deformation and characterization of fluvial landscape has been investigated on three typical skrike-slip fault zones of the Ajay-Damodar Interfluve（ADI） in Eastern India through field mapping,structural analysis and examination of digital topography（ASTER-30 m）,multispectral imageries,and google Earth images,Channel morphology in Quaternary sediment is more deformed than Cenozoic lateritic tract and igneous rock system by the neotectonic activities,The structural and lithological controls on the river system in ADI region are reflected by distinct drainage patterns,abrupt change in flow direction,offset river channels,straight river lines,ponded river channel,marshy lands,sag ponds,palaeo-channels,alluvial fans,meander cutoffs,multi-terrace river valley,incised compressed meander,convexity of channel bed slope and knick points in longitudinal profile,Seven morphotectonic indices have been used to infer the role of neotectonic on the modification of channel morphology,A tectonic index map for the ADI region has been prepared by the integration of used morphotectonic indices,which is also calibrated by Bouguer gravity anomaly data and field investigation.

A modern transonic computational fluid dynamics test case is described in this paper,which is the Aerodynamic Validation Model（AVM） from the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment（CAE）. The CAE-AVM is a representation of a modern transonic business jet aircraft with a design Mach number of 0.85. Numerical simulations for the AVM are conducted for two geometries： one baseline geometry, and one geometry that includes the applied model support system of the wind tunnel as well as the deformed wing shape that occurred during wind tunnel testing. The combined influence of wing deformation and model support interference on local and integral aerodynamic features is presented. Comparisons between CFD and experimental results are made; reasons of discrepancy between results from considered cases are analyzed.

The broadband, narrow width, rectangular dielectric resonator antenna(RDRA) of aluminum nitride(εr=8.6) was designed and the effect of inclusion of air gap at the bottom of the dielectric resonator antenna(DRA),above the ground plane, was investigated. gain around 7 dBi was obtained for DRA with air gap(DRAAg) over a broad bandwidth in upper X, ku, and k bands. Further enhancement in gain could be obtained by placing a metal wall parallel to the length of DRA. However, due to the presence of metal wall, bandwidth was reduced. These structures with the metal wall are capable of operating over a wide band extending from ku band to lower k band with the gain of around 10 dBi. CST Microwave Studio Software was used to simulate all these *** parameters of DRA with air gap were compared with several broadband DRA structures reported in recent literature. The proposed DRAAg with the metal wall in this paper is capable of operating over a wide bandwidth along with a significant gain.

A multi-barrier antibiotics loaded biodegradable composite bone cement for resolving chronic osteomyelitis has been studied to understand the physico-mechanical properties,drug loading/eluting efficiency,and different merits and demerits prior to clinical *** successful induction of bone infection in 28 rabbits using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)strains,calcium sulfate/bioactive glass based composite cement was implanted in 12 defects to assess its performance over parenteral therapy with microscopic and radiological examination for 90 *** composite cement revealed acceptable physico-mechanical properties and controlled drug elution ***,the antibiotics concentrations in bone up to 42 days were sufficient to kill MRSA without eliciting adverse drug *** striking feature of platelets aggregation by composite cement could assist bone *** controlled degradation with simultaneous entrapment of composite cement within the osteoid tissues and complete repair of infected cortical defects(holes)in rabbit tibia at 6 weeks indicated the excellent anti-infective and osteoconductive properties of composite ***,the animal study demonstrated the superiority of composite over injectable antibiotic therapy based on infection resolution and bone *** thereby conclude that the composite cement can be effectively applied in the treatment of resistant cases of chronic osteomyelitis.

A multidisciplinary approach using the inte- grated field of geosciences （e.g., geomorphology, geotec- tonics, geophysics, and hydrology） is established to conduct groundwater recharge potential mapping of the kunur River Basin, India. The relative mean error （RME） calculation of the results of three applied techniques and water table data from twenty-four observation wells in the basin over the 2000-2010 period are presented. Nine sub- basins were identified and ranked for the RME calculation, where the observation wells-based ranking was taken as standard order for comparison. A linear model has been developed using six factors （drainage density, surface slope, ruggedness index, lineament density, Bouguer gravity anomaly, and potential maximum water retention capacity） and a grid-wise weighted index. In a separate comparative approach, the sub-basin and grid-wise analyses have been conducted to identify the suitable spatial unit for watershed level hydrological modeling.

Fish (Rita rita) were exposed to an anionic detergent, dodecylbenzene sodium sulfonate, at a concentration of 6.9mg/liter (96-hr LC_(50) of the detergent).A series of histochemical techniques, used in this study for the demonstration of various protein constituents, indicated a gradual decrease in the intensity of staining reactions of the cytoplasmic material, suggesting a loss of protein moieties from the club cells and the epithelial cells of the opercular epidermis as a result of detergent exposure. 1990 Academic ***.
