green hydrogen from water splitting has emerged as a critical energy vector with the potential to spearhead the global transition to a fossil fuel-independent *** field of catalysis has been revolutionized by single-atom catalysts(SACs),which exhibit unique and intricate interactions between atomically dispersed metal atoms and their ***,bimetallic SACs(bimSACs)have garnered significant attention for leveraging the synergistic functions of two metal ions coordinated on appropriately designed *** offer an avenue for rich metal–metal and metal–support cooperativity,potentially addressing current limitations of SACs in effectively furnishing transformations which involve synchronous proton–electron exchanges,substrate activation with reversible redox cycles,simultaneous multi-electron transfer,regulation of spin states,tuning of electronic properties,and cyclic transition states with low activation *** review aims to encapsulate the growing advancements in bimSACs,with an emphasis on their pivotal role in hydrogen generation via water *** subsequently delve into advanced experimental methodologies for the elaborate characterization of SACs,elucidate their electronic properties,and discuss their local coordination ***,we present comprehensive discussion on the deployment of bimSACs in both hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction,the two half-reactions of the water electrolysis process.

Prominent cycling reversibility and kinetics enabled by CaTiO3 protective layer on Zn metal for aqueous Zn-ion batteries

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries （AZIBs） have received considerable attention owing to their various advantages such as safety,low cost,simple battery assembly conditions,and high ionic ***,they still suffer from serious problems,including uncontrollable dendrite growth,corrosion,hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） from water decomposition,electrode passivation,and unexpected *** creation of a uniform artificial nanocrystal layer on the Zn anode surface is a promising strategy for resolving these ***,we propose the use of a perovskite CaTiO3（CTO） protective layer on Zn（CTO@Zn） as a promising approach for improving the performance of *** CTO artificial layer provides an efficient pathway for Zn ion diffusion towards the Zn metal because of the high dielectric constant （εr=180） and ferroelectric characteristics that enable the alignment of dipole moments and redistribute the Zn2+ions in the CTO *** avoiding the direct contact of the Zn anode with the electrolyte solution,the uneven dendrite growth,corrosion,parasitic side reactions,and HER are mitigated,while CTO retains its mechanical and chemical robustness during ***,CTO@Zn demonstrates an improved lifespan in a symmetric cell configuration compared with bare ***@Zn shows steady overpotential （～68 m V） for 1500 h at 1 mA cm-2/0.5 mA h cm-2,excelling bare ***,when paired with the V2O5-C cathode,the CTO@Zn//V2O5-C full battery delivers 148.4 mA h g-1（based on the mass of the cathode） after 300 *** study provides new insights into Zn metal anodes and the development of high-performance AZIBs.

Compositional dependence of thermophysical properties in binary alkaline earth borate melts:Insights from structure in short-range and intermediate-range order

In this work,the thermal conductivity of alkaline earth borate melts was measured using hot-wire method from 1323 to 1623 K,and the thermal diffusivity was extrapolated from the thermal conductivity and heat *** compositional dependence of thermophysical properties was interpreted according to the structure in short-range and intermediate-range *** on the Raman spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and 11B magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance(MAS-NMR)spectra,modifier cation with higher field strength prefers the formation of non-bridging oxygens(NBOs)for the charge compensation at high BO_(1.5)/MO ratios.A lower amount of covalent bond and greater isolation of large borate groups lead to a lower thermal conductivity in calcium borate melt compared with strontium and barium *** the large size of Ba^(2+)encounters difficulty in fitting around B^[4]-OB^[4]linkages inside the overcrowded large borate groups when BO_(1.5)/BaO=2.5,promoting the formation of NBOs on the edge of borate groups for the charge compensation of modifier cations and leading to the decline in the thermal *** conductivity plays a major role in regulating the thermal diffusivity at a given temperature since the compositional dependence of volumetric heat capacity is relatively weak compared with that of thermal conductivity.

An in-situ Raman spectroscopic study on potential-pO^(2-) phase diagram of lanthanum in LiCl-KCl eutectic melt

The oxidative reaction between lanthanum trichloride and oxide ion was studied in the molten LiCl-KCl eutectic at 773 K by in-situ Raman spectroscopy using an yttria-stabilized zirconia electrode in conjunction with electrochemical *** formation of lanthanum oxychloride,LaOCl(s),was confirmed by studying the vibrational properties of crystalline LaOCl and X-ray diffraction *** solubility product of LaOCl in the LiCl-KCl molten eutectic at 773 K is found to be pKsp(LaOCl)=7.569±0.100,by combining the results of Raman spectroscopy and potentiometric titration with the addition of barium *** use of Raman spectroscopic quantitation of dissolved lanthanum ions in the system allows faster and more accurate determination of the stable phase of lanthanum as well as the solubility product of LaOCl compared with that measured by potentiometric titration *** on experimentally obtained pKsp and standard equilibrium potentials,the potentialpO2- phase diagram of lanthanum in the molten LiCl-KCl eutectic was reported.

Fundamental study on short range measurement using RF time of flight based on Vernier effect

Recognizing the position of moving objects, facilities or important equipments has been regarded as a hot issue in the future environment which needs ubiquitous characteristics. Furthermore, it is indispensably needed to acquire location data in order to realize an infrastructure of sensor network system. Namely, distance data are the preliminary information to complete localization of a moving object in local area. Even though there have been several researches on this topic, there are however still much amount of problems in getting precisely exact distance data. Out of them, the research on using TOF (Time-of-flight) is very few as well as could be thought of as a cutting-edge technique. Moreover, it is very difficult to get minutely RF signal's TOF for getting short distance data; that is, very complicated signal processing skills are requested for realizing it. In this paper, we present a new methodology of RF short ranging technique based on vernier effect through using of heterogeneous operating clocks.

Sensitivity of the Equatorial Air-Sea Coupled System to the Zonal Phase Difference between SST and Wind Stress

An eigen analysis of the equatorial air—sea coupled model is carried out to understand the mechanism of the slowly varying mode for various zonal phase differences between SST and wind stress. The frequency and growth rate of the slow mode highly depend on the zonal phase difference between SST and wind stress anomalies and the wave scale. For ultra—long waves longer than 20,000 km, the system propagates westward regardless of the position of wind stress. However, for the long waves observed in the Pacific, the slow mode tends to propagate eastward when the SST and wind stress anomalies are close to each other (within a quadrature phase relationship). On the other hand, when the wind stress is located far away from SST, the slow mode tends to propagate westward. The coupled system produces the unstable modes when the westerly (easterly) wind stress is located in the west of warm (cold) SST. It is noted that for the Pacific basin scale, the eastward propagating unstable waves can be produced when the wind stress is located to the west of SST with a few thousand kilometer distance. Also examined in the present study is the relative role of the thermocline displacement and zonal advection effects in determining the propagation and instability of the coupled system.
