The covalent attachment of cargo molecules(e.g.,drugs and fluorophores)inβ-position to a disulfide moiety through carbamate and carbonate bonds finds many applications in responsive release ***,we showed that the combination of this release process with polymer mechanochemistry-induced disulfide scission enabled the remote-controlled release of small molecule drugs and fluorophores from their inactive parent macromolecules using *** nature of the linker bond largely governed the subsequent release kinetics,an aspect that has not been investigated so *** compare the differences,we here employ disulfide-centered polymers releasing either hydroxyl-or amino-naphthalimides from their respectiveβ-carbonate or-carbamate linkers by forceinduced intramolecular 5-exo-trig *** present the synthesis,characterization,and cell imaging evaluation of three naphthalimides featuring colorimetric and green fluorescence turn-on upon release,allowing monitoring of the release *** believe that the insights gained from these experiments would advance the tailoring of release rates for force-induced pharmacotherapy.

AiM: To investigate the frequency of gastroen-terological diseases in the etiology and the efficacy of proton pump inhibitors (PPis) in the treatment of cardiac syndrome X (CSX) as a subform of non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP). METHODS: We investigated 114 patients with CSX using symptom questionnaires. A subgroup of these patients were investigated regarding upper gastrointestinal disorders (gis) and treated with PPi. Patients not willing to participate in investigation and treatment served as control group. RESULTS: Thirty-six patients denied any residual symptoms and were not further evaluated. After informed consent in 27 of the remaining 78 patients, we determined the prevalence of disorders of the upper gi tract and quantifi ed the effect of treatment with pantoprazole. We found a high prevalence of gastroenterological pathologies (26/27 patients, 97%)with gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (gERD) and acid reflux as the most common associated disorders. if treated according to the study protocol, these patients showed a significant improvement in the symptom score. Patients treated by primary care physicians, not according to the study protocol had a minor response to treatment (n = 19, -43%), while patients not treated at all (n = 26) had no improvement of symptoms (-0%). CONCLUSiON: Disorders of the upper gi tract are a frequent origin of CSX in a german population and can be treated with pantoprazole if given for a longer period.

MR-arterioportography: A new technical approach for detection of liver lesions

AiM: To evaluate the benefit and effectiveness of MRarterioportography (MR-AP) to achieve the highest sensitivity for detection and evaluation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: Twenty liver cirrhosis patients with suspected HCC were included before transarterial chemoembolization. in all patients double-enhanced Magnetic resonance imaging (MRi) was performed. A bolus of 10 mL Magnevist was injected through a selectively placed catheter in the superior mesenteric artery and MRi of the liver was performed in arterioportographic phase. Two independent readers evaluated number, size and localization of detected lesions. Diagnostic quality was determined using a 4-point scale. Differences were analyzed for significance using a t -test. interobserver variability was calculated. RESULTS: in all 20 patients (100%), MR-AP was feasible. Diagnostic quality was, in all cases, between 1 and2 for both modalities and readers. MR-AP detected significantly more lesions than double-enhanced MRi (102.5 vs 61, respectively, P inter-observer variability was 0.881 for MRi and 0.903 for MR-AP. CONCLUSiON: Our study confirmed that the MR-AP as an additional modality for detection of HCC is beneficial, as significantly more lesions were detected compared to MRi with liver-specific contrast.

AiM: To evaluate double balloon enteroscopy (DBE) in post-surgical patients to perform endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and interventions. METHODS: in 37 post-surgical patients, a stepwise approach was performed to reach normal papilla or enteral anastomoses of the biliary tract/pancreas. When conventional endoscopy failed, DBE-based ERCP was performed and standard parameters for DBE, ERCP and interventions were recorded. RESULTS: Push-enteroscopy (overall, 16 procedures) reached enteral anastomoses only in six out of 37 post-surgical patients (16.2%). DBE achieved a high rate of luminal access to the biliary tract in 23 of the remaining 31 patients (74.1%) and to the pancreatic duct (three patients). Among all DBE-based ERCPs (86 procedures), 21/23 patients (91.3%) were successfully treated. interventions included ostium incision or papillotomy in 6/23 (26%) and 7/23 patients (30.4%), respectively. Biliary endoprosthesis insertion and regular exchange was achieved in 17/23 (73.9%) and 7/23 patients (30.4%), respectively. Furthermore, bile duct stone extraction as well as ostium and papillary dilation were performed in 5/23 (21.7%) and 3/23 patients (13.0%), respectively. Complications during DBE-based procedures were bleeding (1.1%), perforation (2.3%) and pancreatitis (2.3%), and minor complications occurred in up to 19.1%. CONCLUSiON: The appropriate use of DBE yields a high rate of luminal access to papilla or enteral anastomoses in more than two-thirds of post-surgical patients, allowing important successful endoscopic therapeutic interventions.

The production of the X（3872） as a hadronic molecule in hadron colliders is clarified. We show that the conclusion of Bignamini et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 103（2009） 162001, that the production of the X（3872） at high pT implies a non-molecular structure, does not hold. in particular, using the well understood properties of the deuteron wave function as an example, we identify the relevant scales in the production process.

Decomposing the drivers of residential space cooling energy consumption in EU-28 countries using a panel data approach

A funnel-type mold is commonly used to provide necessary clearance for the submerged entry nozzle in the thin slab casting(TSC).The partially solidified shell is subjected to the mechanical deformations,which can lead to the defects formation and,as a results,to a ***,the results of the flow simulation,performed by the finite volume method(FVM),are fed to the external package for the finite element analysis of stress and strain.A coupled model was assembled using“creeping solid”approach by blending the Norton-Hoff viscoplastic stress for the solidifying shell with the Newtonian viscous stress of the liquid *** FVM was used to combine both liquid and solid stress models within a single *** iterative procedure based on the improved both side diffusion method was introduced to treat the nonlinear relation between the viscoplastic stress and the strain *** modeled shell thickness was verified by previously published breakout measurements and the simulation *** distribution,obtained during the TSC simulation,dominantly corresponds to the viscoplastic *** numerical approach is robust and has direct industrial application.

AiM:To investigate the systemic availability of budesonide in a patient with Child A cirrhosis due to autoimmune hepatitis (AiH) and primary hepatocellular carcinoma,who developed serious side effects. METHODS:Serum levels of budesonide,6β-OH-budesonide and 16α-OH-prednisolon were measured by HPLC/MS/MS; portosystemic shunt-index (Si) was determined by 99mTc nuclear *** values were compared with a matched control patient without side effects.
