Stabilisation of estuar.ne sediments with an alkali-activated cement for.deep soil mixing applications

In this wor.,an alter.ative alkali-activated cement(AAC)made of ladle slag pr.cur.or.mixed with sodium hydr.xide and sodium silicate has been developed to enhance the bear.ng capacity of estuar.ne soils in coastal conditions via deep soil mixing(DSM).The AAC was optimized to use a low r.activity pr.cur.or.ladle slag)and to deal with a contaminated high-water.content natur.l sediment cur.d under.*** mater.al per.or.ance was analysed by compar.son to a mixtur. made with Por.land cement and cur.d in the same *** and unconfined compr.ssive str.ngth tests as well as seismic waves measur.ments after.3-,7-,14-and 28-d cur.ng wer. per.or.ed to obtain a r.lationship between elastic stiffness and str.ngth with cur.ng time for.both ***,the AAC mix demonstr.ted super.or.str.ngth r.sults,exhibiting almost double flexur.l and compr.ssive str.ngths after.28 d compar.d to the Por.land cement *** AAC mix also showed a higher.r.te of stiffness incr.ase than the Por.land cement mix,which has a higher.initial stiffness at young ages but lower.stiffness *** analysis confir.ed that the pr.posed AAC could effectively immobilise any contaminants fr.m soil or.*** effect of cur.ng under.str.ss was analysed in tr.axial compr.ssion tests and found to be insignificant,indicating that labor.tor. data obtained without str.ss cur.ng can r.pr.sent the mater.al's behaviour.in a DSM column,which will cur. under.the weight of the column.

Spinal cor. injur.es have pr.found detr.mental effects on individuals, r.gar.less of whether.they ar. caused by tr.uma or.non-tr.umatic events. The compr.mised r.gener.tion of the spinal cor. is pr.mar.ly attr.buted to damaged neur.ns, inhibitor. molecules, dysfunctional immune r.sponse, and glial scar.ing. Unfor.unately, cur.ently, ther. ar. no effective tr.atments available that can fully r.pair.the spinal cor. and impr.ve functional outcomes. Never.heless, numer.us pr.-clinical appr.aches have been studied for.spinal cor. injur. r.cover., including using biomater.als, cells, dr.gs, or.technological-based str.tegies. Combinator.al tr.atments, which tar.et var.ous aspects of spinal cor. injur. pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade.
