Seasonal Variation of Cumulative CO_2 Emission from a Vertisol Under Apricot Orchard in Semi-Arid Southeast Turkey

Understanding the factors affecting the CO 2 emission from agricultural practices is crucial for global warming.A study was performed in an apricot orchard field in the experimental farm of the Harran University,Southeast Turkey,to i) quantify weekly and seasonal variations of the CO 2 emissions from a Vertisol under apricot orchard;ii) evaluate the difference in CO 2 emission between the area under trees and rows;and iii) assess the relationships between the amounts of CO 2 emissions and environmental parameters for better use and management of the soils from the view point of carbon balance and flux in a semi-arid environment under drip *** CO 2 emission measurements were performed during May 2008 and May 2010,from both under tree crowns (CO 2-UC) and between tree rows (CO 2-BR),on a weekly basis in southeast Turkey with a semi-arid *** 2 emissions were statistically correlated with weather and soil parameters such as air temperature,relative humidity,rainfall,soil water content,and soil temperature at various depths from 5 to 100 *** weekly emissions ranged from 82 to 1 110 kg CO 2 ha 1 week 1 and from 96 to 782 kg CO 2 ha 1 week 1 in CO 2-UC and CO 2-BR,*** in CO 2 emission in the second year was due to increases in mean air and soil *** weekly and monthly cumulative CO 2 emissions were positively correlated with the air and soil *** linear regression analysis explained 35% and 83% variations in average weekly and monthly CO 2 emissions,by using meteorological *** the interaction effects of meteorological parameters in regression equations nearly doubled the variance explained by the regression *** to stepwise regression analysis,soil and air temperatures were found to have the most significant impact on the temporal variability of the soil CO 2 emission.

In this study, the electrorheological （ER） behavior of suspensions prepared from d50 = 2.4 lam talc powder, dispersed in insulating silicone oil （SO） medium was investigated. Sedimentation stabilities of suspensions （c = 5 wt%） prepared using these talc powder powders were determined to be 78 days. The ER activity of all the suspensions was observed to increase with increasing electric field strength, concentration and decreasing shear rate. The shear stress of talc powder suspensions increased linearly with increasing concentrations of the particles and with the applied electric field strength. Electric field viscosity of all the suspensions decreased sharply with increasing shear rate and showed a typical shear thinning non-Newtonian visco-elastic behavior. Effects of frequency on the ER activity of talc powder/SO system were also investigated.

Determination of threshing and separation unit performance of rosemary(Rosmarinus officinalis)plants

Rosemary(Rosmarinus officinalis L.)is an important perennial medicinal and aromatic plant belonging to the Lamiaceae *** is widely produced in Turkey for its oil which can be extracted from the plants when flowers are in *** Turkey,a significant amount of domestic and foreign trade of rosemary is *** 2018-2020,2088 t of rosemary plants were imported,while in the same years 2077 t were *** this study,the performance indexes of a threshing and separating unit designed according to the physicomechanical properties of the rosemary were *** operating parameters of the machine were determined at three different moisture contents and adjusted according to the harvest moisture *** threshing efficiency,work efficiency,power requirement,and specific energy consumption values of the threshing unit were determined,while separating efficiency,work efficiency and specific power consumption of separating unit of the developed system were *** to the study results,the threshing efficiency of the rosemary plant varied between 44.00%and 96.97%.Work efficiency of the thresher varied between 1.18 and 15.34 kg/*** requirements and specific energy consumption of the threshing unit were obtained as 0.19-1.05 kW and 0.02-0.37 kW·h/h,*** the other hand,the separating efficiency of the separating unit for the rosemary plant varied between 44.27%and 85.24%.Maximum and minimum values of work efficiency were found as 0.75 kg/h and 5.52 kg/*** power consumption of the unit ranged from 3.95 to 39.95 kW/kg.

Effects of the myeloperoxidase 463 gene polymorphisms on development of atrophy in H pylori infected or noninfected gastroduodenal disease

AIM： To investigate the relationship between myeloperoxidase polymorphisms as a host-related factor and atrophy caused by H pylori. METHODS： Our study enrolled 77 patients. Biopsy materials obtained during gastrointestinal endoscopies were evaluated for the presence of H pylori. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay was used to characterize myeloperoxidase genothpes. RESULTS： Forty four patients （57.1%） were lip （＋） and 33 （42.9%） were Hp （-）. Sixty six （85.7%） had gg genotype, 10 （12.9%） had gA genotype and 1 （1.29%） had AA genotype. The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was significant in Hp （＋） patients （P = 0.0001）. The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration in patients with gg genotype was significant （P = 0.002）. However, the change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was not significiant in patients with Hp （＋） gg genotype （r = 0.066, P = 0.63）. CONCLUSION： Myeloperoxidase genotype is critical for development of atrophy in relation to the severity of inflammation. However, it is interesting to note that, H pylori does not show any additive effect on development of atrophy.

Development of a measurement system for noise and vibration of combine harvester

Combine harvesters are important in that grain and legumes directly affect the production *** the other hand,it forms an important branch of the agricultural machinery *** are many unknown constraints on machines when harvesting with a combine harvester,including the noise and vibration that occur in the combine harvester *** study aims to analyze noise and vibration in conventional combine harvesters using *** accelerometers were installed on each side of the concave and two microphones were used to register the noise of the threshing *** result showed that effects of machine speeds(3.5 km/h,4.5 km/h and 5.5 km/h)and rotor speeds(950 r/min,850 r/min and 950 r/min)were significantly important for the mean range values of the left and right accelerometer in the X,Y and Z *** machine’s speed and rotor speed were not significantly important for the mean range values of the left and right microphones.

Synthesis and characterization of salt-impregnated anodic aluminum oxide composites for low-grade heat storage

Thermochemical heat storage(THS)systems have recently attracted a lot of attention in research and *** this study,an anodic aluminum oxide(AAO)template,fabricated by a two-step anodization method,was used for the first time as the matrix material for a THS *** salts were studied as thermochemical materials for their suitability in low-grade heat storage application driven by solar energy for an open *** were prepared by absorbing CaCl2,MgCl2,LiCl,LiNO3 and mixtures of these salts under a vacuum in an AAO *** Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy was used to examine the morphology of the produced AAO *** energy storage capacities of the composites were characterized using a differential scanning *** analysis showed that anodized Al plates were suitable matrix materials for THS systems,and composite sorbent prepared with a 1:1 ratio LiCl/LiNO3 salt mixture had the highest energy value among all composites,with an energy density of 468.1 k J·kg-1.

Every day walking consists of frequent voluntary modifications in the gait pattern to negotiate *** spinal cord injury,stepping over an obstacle becomes *** over an obstacle requires sensorimotor transformations in several structures of the brain,including the parietal cortex,premotor cortex,and motor *** information and planning are transformed into motor commands,which are sent from the motor cortex to spinal neuronal circuits to alter limb trajectory,coordinate the limbs,and maintain *** spinal cord injury,bidirectional communication between the brain and spinal cord is disrupted and animals,including humans,fail to voluntarily modify limb trajectory to step over an ***,in this review,we discuss the neuromechanical control of stepping over an obstacle,why it fails after spinal cord injury,and how it recovers to a certain extent.

graft-versus-host disease after liver transplantation:A comprehensive literature review

AIM： To determine the factors affecting mortality in pa- tients who developed graft-versus-host disease （gvHD） after liver transplantation （LT）. METHODS： We performed a review of studies of gvHD following LT published in the English literature and ac- cessed the PubMed, Medline, EBSCO, EMBASE, and google Scholar databases. Using relevant search phras- es, 88 articles were identified. Of these, 62 articles con- raining most of the study parameters were considered eligible for the study. Risk factors were first examined using a univariate Kaplan-Meier model, and variables with a significant association （P 〈 0.05） were then sub- jected to multivariate analyses using a Cox proportional- hazards model. RESULTS： The 61 articles reported 87 patients, 58 male and 29 female, mean age, 40.4 ± 15.5 years （range： 8 mo to 74 years）, who met the inclusion criteria for the present study. Deaths occurred in 59 （67.8%） patients, whereas 28 （32.2%） survived after a mean follow-up period of 280.8 ± 316.2 d （range： 27-2285 d）. Among the most frequent symptoms were rash （94.2%）, fever （66.6%）, diarrhea （54%）, and pancytopenia （54%）. The average time period between LT and first symptom on- set was 60.6 ± 190.1 d （range： 2-1865 d）. The Kaplan- Meier analysis revealed that pancytopenia （42.8% vs 59.3%, P = 0.03）, diarrhea （39.2% vs 61.0%, P = 0.04）, age difference between the recipient and the donor （14.6 ± 3.1 years vs 22.6 ± 2.7 years, P 〈 0.0001）, and time From first symptom occurrence to diagnosis or treatment （13.3 ± 2.6 mo vs 15.0 ± 2.3 mo, P 〈 0.0001） were significant factors affecting mortality, whereas age, sex, presence of rash and fever, use of immunosuppressive agents, acute rejection before gvHD, etiological causes, time of onset, and donor type were not associated with mortality risk.
