Currently,the enhancement in electromagnetic interference(EmI)performance of polymeric composite generally relies on either improving electrical conductivity(σ)for stronger electromagnetic(Em)reflections or tailoring structure for higher Em ***,we proposed a novel technique called cyclic pulsating pressure enhanced segregating structuration(CPP-SS),which can reinforce these two factors *** structural information was supplied by optical microscopy(Om)and scanning electron microscopy(SEm),both of which confirmed the formation and evolution of segregate structured ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHmWPE)/graphene ***,the result showed that CPP-SS can significantly improve theσof ***,advanced specific EmI shielding efficiency of 31.1 d B/mm was achieved for UHmWPE/graphene composite at 1-mm thickness and a low graphene loading of 5 wt%.meanwhile,it also confirmed that the intrinsic disadvantage of poor mechanical properties of conventional segregated structure composites can be *** work is believed to provide a fundamental understanding of the structural and performance evolutions of segregated structured composites prepared under CPPSS,and to bring us a simple and efficient approach for fabricating high-performance,strong and light-weight polymeric EmI shields.

Identification and functional analysis of Cg3526 in spermatogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster

Spermatogenesis is a critical part of reproduction in insects;however,its molecular mechanism is still largely *** this study,we identified a testis-specific gene Cg3526 in Drosophila *** analysis showed that Cg3526 contains a zinc binding domain and 2 C2H2 type zinc fingers,and it is clustered to the vertebrate really interesting new gene(RINg)family E3 ubiquitin-protein *** Cg3526 was knocked down by RNA interference(RNAi),the testis became much smaller in size,and the apical tip exhibited a sharp and thin end instead of the blunt and round shape in the control *** importantly,compared to the control flies,only a few mature sperm were present in the seminal vesicle of C587-gal4>Cg3526 RNAi *** staining of the testis from Cg3526 RNAi flies showed that the homeostasis of testis stem cell niche was disrupted,cell distribution in the apical tip was scattered,and the process of spermatogenesis was not ***,we found that the phenotype of Cg3526 RNAi flies’testis was similar to that of testis of Stat92E RNAi flies,the expression level of Cg3526 was significantly downregulated in the Stat92EF06346 mutant flies,and the promoter activity of Cg3526 was upregulated by *** together,our results indicated that Cg3526 is a downstream effector gene in the JAK-STAT signaling pathway that plays a key role in the spermatogenesis of Drosophila.

Lightweight,Strong and High Heat-Resistant Poly(lactide acid)Foams via microcellular Injection molding with Self-Assembly Nucleating Agent

Poly(lactide acid)(PLA)foams have shown considerable promise as eco-friendly alternatives to nondegradable plastic foams,such as polystyrene(PS)***,PLA foam typically suffers from low heat-resistance and poor cellular structure stemming from its inherent slow crystallization rate and low melt *** this study,a high-performance PLA foam with well-defined cell morphology,exceptional strength and enhanced heat-resistance was successfully fabricated via a core-back microcellular injection molding(mIm)*** scanning calorimetry(DSC)results revealed that the added hydrazine-based nucleating agent(HNA)significantly increased the crystallization temperature and accelerated the crystallization process of ***,the addition of a 1.5 wt%of HNA led to a significant reduction in PLA’s cell size,from 43.5µm to 2.87µm,and a remarkable increase in cell density,from 1.08×10^(7)cells/cm^(3)to 2.15×10^(10)cells/cm^(3).This enhancement resulted in a final crystallinity of approximately 55.7%for the PLA blend foam,a marked improvement compared to the pure PLA ***,at 1.5 wt%HNA concentration,the tensile strength and tensile toughness of PLA blend foams demonstrated remarkable improvements of 136%and 463%,***,the Vicat softening temperature of PLA blend foam increased significantly to 134.8°C,whereas the pure PLA foam exhibited only about 59.7℃.These findings underscore the potential for the preparation of lightweight injection-molded PLA foam with enhanced toughness and heat-resistance,which offers a viable approach for the production of high-performance PLA foams suitable for large-scale applications.

An improved algorithm for retrieving thin sea ice thickness in the Arctic Ocean from SmOS and SmAP L-band radiometer data

The aim of this study was to develop an improved thin sea ice thickness(SIT)retrieval algorithm in the Arctic Ocean from the Soil moisture Ocean Salinity and Soil moisture Active Passive L-band radiometer *** SIT retrieval algorithm was trained using the simulated SIT from the cumulative freezing degree days model during the freeze-up period over five carefully selected regions in the Beaufort,Chukchi,East Siberian,Laptev and Kara seas and utilized the microwave polarization ratio(PR)at incidence angle of 40°.The improvements of the proposed retrieval algorithm include the correction for the sea ice concentration impact,reliable reference SIT data over different representative regions of the Arctic Ocean and the utilization of microwave polarization ratio that is independent of ice *** relationship between the SIT and PR was found to be almost stable across the five selected *** SIT retrievals were then compared to other two existing algorithms(i.e.,UH_SIT from the University of Hamburg and UB_SIT from the University of Bremen)and validated against independent SIT data obtained from moored upward looking sonars(ULS)and airborne electromagnetic(Em)induction *** results suggest that the proposed algorithm could achieve comparable accuracies to UH_SIT and UB_SIT with root mean square error(RmSE)being about 0.20 m when validating using ULS SIT data and outperformed the UH_SIT and UB_SIT with RmSE being about 0.21 m when validatng using Em SIT *** proposed algorithm can be used for thin sea ice thickness(m)estimation in the Arctic Ocean and requires less auxiliary data in the SIT retrieval procedure which makes its implementation more practical.

The mass Assembly History for galaxies with maNgA

How galaxies assemble masses through their own star formation or interaction with the external environment is still an important topic in the field of galaxy formation and *** use Value Added Catalogs with galaxy features that are spatially and temporally resolved from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 17 to investigate the mass growth histories of early-type galaxies(ETgs)and late-type galaxies(LTgs).We find that the mass growth of ETgs is earlier than that of LTgs for massive galaxies(m_(*)>10^(10)m_⊙),while low-mass(m_(*)≤10^(10)m_⊙)ETgs have statistically similar mass assembly histories as low-mass *** stellar metallicity of all massive galaxies shows a negative gradient and basically does not change with ***,in low-mass galaxies,the stellar metallicity gradient of elliptical galaxies is negative,and the stellar metallicity gradient of lenticular and spiral galaxies evolves from positive to *** are not all in a high-density environment,but exhibit mass *** the tidal strength increases,the star formation rate of low-mass ETgs rapidly *** results support a picture where massive galaxies exhibit inside-out quenching mode,while low-mass galaxies show outside-in quenching *** effects play an important role in regulating the mass assembly histories of low-mass ETgs.

meta label associated loss for fine-grained visual recognition

Recently, intensive attempts have been made to design robust models for fine-grained visual recognition, most notably are the impressive gains for training with noisy labels by incorporating a reweighting strategy into a meta-learning framework. However, it is limited to up or downweighting the contribution of an instance for label reweighting approaches in the learning process. To solve this issue, a novel noise-tolerant method with auxiliary web data is proposed. Specifically, first, the associations made from embeddings of well-labeled data with those of web data and back at the same class are measured. Next, its association probability is employed as a weighting fusion strategy into angular margin-based loss, which makes the trained model robust to noisy datasets. To reduce the influence of the gap between the well-labeled and noisy web data, a bridge schema is proposed via the corresponding loss that encourages the learned embeddings to be coherent. Lastly, the formulation is encapsulated into the meta-learning framework, which can reduce the overfitting of models and learn the network parameters to be noise-tolerant. Extensive experiments are performed on benchmark datasets, and the results clearly show the superiority of the proposed method over existing state-of-the-art approaches.
