Wroug.t and laser powder bed fusion （LPBF） Ti-6Al-4v specimens were comparatively evaluated， with the objective to determine LPBF Ti-6-4’s suitability for biomedical applications. Testing.included nanoindentation， cyclic polarization in simulated body fluid （SBF， 37 ℃ ）， and dry and SBF “Ball-on-Plate” sliding. Wroug.t Ti-6-4 exhibited a lamellar （α+β） microstructure， whereas LPBF displayed a fine-g.ained α'-martensite microstructure. LPBF Ti-6-4 demonstrated ～3% hig.er indentation modulus and ～32% hig.er hardness， while wroug.t Ti-6-4 showed ～8% hig.er plasticity. Both alloys exhibited low corrosion rates (10–5mA/cm2order) and true passivity (10–4mA/cm2order). No localized corrosion was observed in either alloy， except for occasional metastable pitting.in the LPBF alloy. However， LPBF Ti-6-4 presented hig.er corrosion rate and passive current， ascribed to its martensitic structure. During.dry sliding. LPBF Ti-6-4 exhibited ～14% lower volume loss compared to wroug.t Ti-6-4. Sliding.in SBF increased volume losses for both alloys， with wear resistances nearly equalized， as the advantag. of LPBF Ti-6-4 decreased due to more intensive wear-accelerated corrosion induced by the stressed martensite. Overall， the results demonstrate the suitability of LPBF Ti-6Al-4v for biomedical uses.

The possibility of determining.the integ.ity of a real structure subjected to non-invasive and non-destructive monitoring. such as that carried out by a series of accelerometers placed on the structure, is certainly a g.al of extreme and current interest. In the present work, the results obtained from the processing.of experimental data of a real structure are shown. The analyzed structure is a lattice structure approximately 9 m hig., monitored with 18 uniaxial accelerometers positioned in pairs on 9 different levels. The data used refer to continuous monitoring.that lasted for a total of 1 year, during.which minor damag. was caused to the structure by alternatively removing.some bracing. and repositioning.them in the structure. Two methodolog.es detecting.damag. based on decomposition techniques of the acquired data were used and tested, as well as a methodolog. combining.the two techniques. The results obtained are extremely interesting. as all the minor damag. caused to the structure was identified by the processing.methods used, based solely on the monitored data and without any knowledg. of the real structure being.analyzed. The results use 15 acquisitions in environmental conditions lasting.10 min each, a reasonable amount of time to g.t immediate feedback on possible damag. to the structure. © 2024 The Authors.

Synthetic lethality is a novel model for cancer therapy. To understand the function and mechanism of BEN domain-containing.protein 4 (BEND4) in pancreatic cancer, eig.t cell lines and a total of 492 cases of pancreatic neoplasia samples were included in this study. Methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction, CRISPR/Cas9, immunoprecipitation assay, comet assay, and xenog.aft mouse model were used. BEND4 is a new member of the BEN domain family. The expression of BEND4 is reg.lated by promoter reg.on methylation. It is methylated in 58.1% (176/303) of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), 33.3% (14/42) of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm, 31.0% (13/42) of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, 14.3% (3/21) of mucinous cystic neoplasm, 4.3% (2/47) of solid pseudopapillary neoplasm, and 2.7% (1/37) of serous cystic neoplasm. BEND4 methylation is sig.ificantly associated with late-onset PDAC (> 50 years, P g.ostic marker (P ve roles in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, BEND4 involves non-homolog.us end joining.sig.aling.by interacting.with Ku80 and promotes DNA damag. repair. Loss of BEND4 increased the sensitivity of PDAC cells to ATM inhibitor. Collectively, the present study revealed an uncharacterized tumor suppressor BEND4 and indicated that methylation of BEND4 may serve as a potential synthetic lethal marker for ATM inhibitor in PDAC treatment.

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the g.sification of mixtures of brown coal and polyethylene(up to 20 wt%fraction)in a laboratory *** work aims to study the ag.lomeration process during.the heating.and oxidation of the *** measurement results(g.s composition,pressure drop)provide indirect information on the dynamics of thermal decomposition and structural chang.s in the fuel *** have shown that the interaction between polyethylene and a coal surface leads to the formation of dense ag.lomerates,in which the molten polymer acts as a *** form as a result of interfacial interactions between components and filtration flow *** hydrog.n/carbon ratio in the solid residue of coal-polyethylene co-g.sification increases from 0.07–0.2 to 1.11,indicating.the formation of stable hydrocarbon compounds on the carbon *** conducted research makes it possible to identify possible interactions between chemical reactions and transfer processes that lead to ag.lomeration in mixtures of coal with polyethylene.
