Mechanochemical Synthesis of Visible-light Induced Photocatalyst with Nitrogen and Carbon Doping

Nitrogen and/or carbon doped titania photocatalysts were prepared by a novel mechanochemical method. The prepared powders possessed two absorption edges around 400 and 540 nm wavelengths and showed excellent photocatalytic ability for nitrogen monoxide oxidation under visible light irradiation. Under the irradiation of visible light of wavelength >510 nm,37% of nitrogen monoxide could be continuously removed by the carbon and nitrogen co-doped titania prepared by planetary ball milling of P-25 titania–10% hexamethylenetetramine mixture followed by calcination in air at 400-C.

A mixture of polyethylene ([-CH-]n,PE) or polyvinyl chloride ([-CHCHCl-]n,PVC), Ca(OH) and Ni(OH) was milled and the milled sample was heated for hydrogen generation.In case ofPE,TG/MS analysis of the milled products up to 700℃showed H,CH,CO,CO,HO with H patterns are dominant between 400 and 500℃,reaching maximum at 430℃.H concentration above 95% was obtained when heating the milled mixture and the concentration of CO and CO was kept below 0.5%.The milling of polyethylene with Ca(OH) and Ni(OH) for hydrogen gas generation could be developed as an alternative process for generation of hydrogen gas for applications in fuel cell.In case of PVC,both chlorine fixation and hydrogen emission are achieved by such a process.

AIM To evaluate the relationship between the location of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).METHODS We evaluated 115 patients(127 nodules), excluding recurrent nodules, treated with TACE between January 2011 and June 2014. TACE efficacy was evaluated according to m RECIST. The HCC location coefficient was calculated as the distance from the central portal portion to the HCC center(mm)/liver diameter(mm) on multiplanar reconstruction images rendered(MPR) to visualize bifurcation of the right and left branches of the portal vein and HCC center. The HCC location coefficient was compared between complete response(CR) and non-CR groups in Child-Pugh grade A and B patients.RESULTS The median location coefficient of HCC among all nodules, the right lobe, and the medial segment was significantly higher in the CR group than in the non-CR group in the Child-Pugh grade A patients(0.82 vs 0.62, P 0.05). On the other hand, in the Child-Pugh grade B patients, the HCC median location coefficient in each lobe and segment was not significantly different between in the CR and in the non-CR groups.CONCLUSION Improved TACE efficacy may be obtained for HCC in the peripheral zone of the right lobe and the medial segment in Child-Pugh grade A patients.

Patterning technology of ferrite and insulating material in multilayer ceramic devices is proposed. In the conventional technology, the different ceramic materials such as the ferrite and the insulating material have been prepared in the form of the each different green sheet, and then they have been stacked each other. Otherwise the different material has filled cavities that were formed by a mechanical punching in advanced. In our proposing technology, arbitrary patterning of the different ceramic material inside the same green sheet is possible. In this process, the arbitrary shape of the through pattern is formed in the green sheet of the base material by making use of photo resist films as sacrifice patterns, and then the base material is masked by the patterned photo resist film. After filling the slurry of the different material into the through pattern of the base material passing the resist mask, the pattern of the different ceramic material in the green sheet is achieved. In the present paper, the ferrite magnetic material and the alumina-glass composite material are used. The patterned structure inside the green sheet is obtained. The slurry preparation, the thickness of the mask resist film, and the obtained structure of the green sheet are discussed.

This paper provides a new system and concept concerning to MEMS air turbine power generator. The generator was composed of the MEMS air turbine and the magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit was fabricated by multilayer magnetic ceramic technology and achieved monolithic structure which included high permeability material and three di-mensional helical conductor patterns inside. Although the output power was micro watt class, some features were extracted by comparing to the simple winding wire type magnetic circuit. In the power density measurement, almost same output power density was extracted though the turn number of the winding wire type was more than that of monolithic type. Also the resistance of the conductor was quarter of the winding type. The maximum output voltage and the maximum power of the monolithic generator was 6.2 mV and 1.92 μVA respectively. The DC conductor resistance was 1.2 Ω. The energy density was 0.046 μVA/mm3. The appearance size of the monolithic type was 3.6, 3.4, 3.5 mm, length, width and height respectively.

Both Diet and Exercise Are Necessary for Obese CKD Patients: A Pilot Prospective Randomized Controlled Study

Aim: This study aimed to examine the effects of exercise training on kidney function and nutrition status in obese Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients. Methods: This is a prospective randomized controlled trial. Twelve adult obese CKD patients were randomly assigned to dietary instruction alone group (Group-D) or to both dietary instruction and exercise training group (Group-E). All patients received supervised dietary advice including calorie, protein, and salt intake for a period of 12 weeks. In addition, patients in Group-E underwent a fitness-training program. A change in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was the main outcome. Secondary outcomes were changes in body mass index, serum creatinine-based estimated-GFR, serum albumin, and albuminuria. Results: Changes in GFR and all secondary outcomes were not statistically significant in either of the two groups. Although exercise training did not appear to significantly affect serum albumin levels in either group, it did present with a large sized effect. Conclusion: Exercise training might not have any effect on kidney function;however, the combination of exercise training along with dietary advice may prove to be more effective in maintaining the nutrition status when compared with dietary instructions alone in obese CKD patients. These results suggest that appropriate exercise training with dietary instructions is recommended for the treatment of obese CKD patients.
