Effect of Different Scale Precipitates on Corrosion Behavior of Mg–10Gd–3Y–0.4Zr Alloy

A large amount of directional and willow-like β' phase was precipitated in Mg-10 Gd-3 Y-0.4 Zr(GW103 K) alloy after solution treatment and subsequently aged treatment(T6). In order to explore the effect of the precipitates on the corrosion behavior of the GW103 K alloy, the alloy was subjected to solution treatment(T4) at 773 K for 4 h at first, subsequently aged at 498 K for 193 h(T6). The microstructure evolution of the GW103 K alloy after this treatment was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The high-angle annular detector dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy was used to observe the typical corrosion morphologies of the nanoscale precipitation phases(β') in the T6-treated alloy. The corrosion rate was measured by potentiodynamic polarization test. Combining with the potential measurement results by scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy, the effects of the skeleton-like Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_5 andf precipitates on the corrosion behavior of GW103 K alloy were explored. The results showed that the corrosion rate of the GW103 K alloy in different conditions was ranked as: as-cast alloy> T4-treated alloy> T6-treated alloy,attributing to the fact that the relative potential differences of skeleton-like Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_5 were lower than those of the matrix, therefore Mg24(Gd, Y)5 phase formed micro-galvanic coupling with the matrix and corrosion dissolution *** nanoscale β' precipitates in T6-treated alloy can retard the cathodic process.

Hot Corrosion Behavior of SiO_2–Al_2O_3–Glass Composite Coating on Ti–47Al–2Cr–2Nb Alloy: Diffusion Barrier for S and Cl

Type Ⅰ hot corrosion behavior of SiO_2-Al_2O_3-glass composite coating based on Ti-47 Al-2 Cr-2 Nb substrate was investigated in the mixture salt of 25 wt%NaCl + 75 wt%Na_2SO_4 at 850 °C. The results showed that there was a bidirectional ion exchange between composite coating and the film of mixed salts, and the sodium ion in the molten salts penetrated into the glass matrix of composite coating, while the potassium ion in the glass matrix dissolved into the molten salts. A decrease in hot corrosion rate was achieved for the coated alloy in comparison with the bared substrate due to the composite coating acting as a diffusion barrier to sulfur and chlorine and preventing the molten salts from diffusing to the coating/alloy interface during the hot corrosion exposure. Additionally, the composite coating decreased the oxygen partial pressure at the coating/alloy interface and promoted the selective oxidation of Al to form a protective Al_2O_3 layer.

Thermal cycling behavior of nanostructured and conventional yttria-stabilized zirconia thermal barrier coatings via air plasma spray

Two thermal barrier coating(TBC)systems comprising NiCoCrAlY bond coat onto a second-generation Ni-based single crystal superalloy and nano structured4 mol%Y_(2)O_(3)-stabilized ZrO_(2)(4YSZ)and conventional yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ)top coats upwardly were deposited by approaches of arc ion plating(AIP)and air plasma spray(APS).As indicted by the experimental results,the 4YSZ TBCs exhibited superior thermal cycling resistance compared with conventional YSZ TBCs at 1100℃.The 4YSZ top coat exhibited higher toughness due to its intrinsic property of nanocrystalline structure,homogeneously distributed and diverse directions of pores and preexisted *** cracks and spallation in 4YSZ TBCs occurred at the interface of top coat and thermally grown oxide(TGO)***,the crack initiation and propagation started along the lamellar interface in the top coat of conventional YSZ TBCs,leading to the rapid crack bridging and subsequent spalling of top ***,before and after oxidation,the 4YSZ top coat showed higher hardness compared to conventional YSZ top *** mechanism and distribution of residual stress in TGO for the 4YSZ TBCs were investigated in the current study.

Cleaner production for continuous digester processes based on hybrid Pareto genetic algorithm

Pulping production process produces a large amount of wastewater and pollutant emitted, which has become one of the main pollution sources in pulp and paper industry. To solve this problem, it is necessary to implement cleaner production by using modeling and optimization technology. This paper studies the modeling and multi\|objective genetic algorithms for continuous digester process. First, model is established, in which environmental pollution and saving energy factors are considered. Then hybrid genetic algorithm based on Pareto stratum\|niche count is designed for finding near\|Pareto or Pareto optimal solutions in the problem and a new genetic evaluation and selection mechanism is proposed. Finally using the real data from a pulp mill shows the results of computer simulation. Through comparing with the practical curve of digester,this method can reduce the pollutant effectively and increase the profit while keeping the pulp quality unchanged.

Quantitative Modeling for Corrosion Behavior in Complex Coupled Environment by Response Surface Methodology

Response surface methodology（RSM） is introduced into corrosion research as a tool to assess the effects of environmental factors and their interactions on corrosion behavior and establish a model for corrosion prediction in complex coupled environment（CCE）. In this study, a typical CCE, that is, the corrosion environment of pipelines in gas field is taken as an example. The effects of environmental factors such as chloride concentration, pH value and pressure as well as their interactions on critical pitting temperature（CPT） were evaluated, and a quadratic polynomial model was developed for corrosion prediction by RSM. The results showed that the model was excellent in corrosion prediction with R2= 0.9949. CPT was mostly affected by single environmental factor rather than interaction, and among the whole factors, chloride concentration was the most influential factor of CPT.

Oxidation Performance and Interdiffusion Behavior of a Pt-Modified Aluminide Coating with Pre-deposition of Ni

To refrain the interdiffusion of elements while holding good oxidation resistance,a(Ni,Pt)Al/Ni composite coating was prepared by sequential treatments of electroplating Ni and Pt and successive gaseous *** comparison with normal(Ni,Pt)Al coating,high-temperature performance of the composite coating was evaluated in isothermal oxidation test at 1100℃.Both the two coatings exhibited good resistance against high-temperature oxidation,but the interdiffusion of elements between composite coating and single-crystal(SC)superalloy substrate was greatly relieved,in which the thickness of secondary reaction zone(SRZ)and the amount of precipitated topologically close-packed phase in the SC alloy matrix were significantly *** responsible for delaying rate of coating degradation and SRZ growth/propagation are discussed.

Background:Voxel-based morphometry(VBM)using structural brain MRI has been widely used for the assessment of impairment in Alzheimer’s disease(AD),but previous studies in VBM studies on AD remain ***:We conducted meta-analyses to integrate the reported studies to determine the consistent grey matter alterations in AD based on VBM ***:The PubMed,ISI Web of Science,EMBASE and Medline database were searched for articles between 1995 and June *** searches were also conducted,and authors of studies were contacted for additional *** were extracted from clusters with significant grey matter difference between AD patients and healthy controls(HC).Meta-analysis was performed using a new improved voxel-based meta-analytic method,Effect Size Signed Differential Mapping(ES-SDM).Results:Thirty data-sets comprising 960 subjects with AD and 1195 HC met inclusion *** matter volume(GMV)reduction at 334 coordinates in AD and no GMV increase were found in the current *** reductions in GMV were robustly localized in the limbic regions(left parahippocampl gyrus and left posterior cingulate gyrus).In addition,there were GM decreases in right fusiform gyrus and right superior frontal *** findings remain largely unchanged in the jackknife sensitivity ***:Our meta-analysis clearly identified GMV atrophy in *** findings confirm that the most prominent and replicable structural abnormalities in AD are in the limbic regions and contributes to the understanding of pathophysiology underlying AD.

Background Previous prediction algorithms for cardiovascular diseases(CVD)were established using risk factors retrieved largely based on empirical clinical *** study sought to identify predictors among a comprehensive variable space,and then employ machine learning(ML)algorithms to develop a novel CVD risk prediction *** From a longitudinal population-based cohort of UK Biobank,this study included 473611 CVD-free participants aged between 37 and 73 years *** implemented an ML-based data-driven pipeline to identify predictors from 645 candidate variables covering a comprehensive range of health-related factors and assessed multiple ML classifiers to establish a risk prediction model on 10-year incident *** model was validated through a leave-one center-out *** During a median follow-up of 12.2 years,31466 participants developed CVD within 10 years after baseline visits.A novel UK Biobank CVD risk prediction(UKCRP)model was established that comprised 10 predictors including age,sex,medication of cholesterol and blood pressure,cholesterol ratio(total/high-density lipoprotein),systolic blood pressure,previous angina or heart disease,number of medications taken,cystatin C,chest pain and pack-years of *** model obtained satisfied discriminative performance with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of 0.762±0.010 that outperformed multiple existing clinical models,and it was well-calibrated with a Brier Score of 0.057±***,the UKCRP can obtain comparable performance for myocardial infarction(AUC 0.774±0.011)and ischaemic stroke(AUC 0.730±0.020),but inferior performance for haemorrhagic stroke(AUC 0.644±0.026).Conclusion ML-based classification models can learn expressive representations from potential high-risked CVD participants who may benefit from earlier clinical decisions.

Acinetobacter baumannii and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)are two prevalent pathogens and have developed high resistant to most ***,it is a pressing need to develop a new method to inhibit the spread of drug-resistant *** containing high-entropy alloy(HEA,Al0.4CoCr-CuFeNi)is a new kind of alloy material,which shows extensive antibacterial activity and mechanical properties in our previous *** study further develops another HEA(CoCrCuFeNi)and evaluates its resistance against gram-negative *** and Gram-positive *** antibacterial tests show that the antibacterial rate of the HEA toward both bacteria reached nearly 99%,far better than the traditional copper-bearing 304 stainless steel(304 Cu-SS).The biofilm observation shows that the HEA could not only kill the planktonic bacteria,but also effectively inhibit the formation of *** data demonstrate that CoCrCuFeNi HEA possesses effective antibacterial and antibiofilm activities,making it a potential candidate for using in hospital,food industry,and domestic kitchens.
