The soluble HLA-G1 (sHLA-G1) isoform was found to be secreted by trophoblast cells at the matemo-fetal interface, which suggests that it may act as an immunomodulator during pregnancy. In this paper, we reported that GST-sHLA-G1α chain could bind to its receptor ILT-2 on NK92 cells and then the latter recruited Src homology 2 domaincontaining tyrosine phosphatase-1 (SHP-1), which consequently dephosphorylated some important protein tyrosine kinases and blocked the activation of downstream molecules such as MEK and ERK so that the cytotoxicity of natural killer (NK) cells was inhibited. These results indicated that GST-sHLA-G1α chain might be exploited in new immunotherapy strategies aiming at inducing immunotolerance during allograft, xenograft and autoimmune situations. In addition, we found that modification of O-linked β-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) was involved in NK cells’ activating and inhibitory signals. Access to off-farm employment has been expected to be a critical approach to ending hunger and all forms of malnutrition,two important targets of achieving Zero *** study aims to investigate the role of off-farm employment in improving dietary diversity through substitution effect and complementary effect with agricultural production activities and income *** study adopts Poisson/Tobit/Probit/OLS regressions and the instrument variable method based on the primary survey data collected among 1,282 households at 12 sites in environmentally and economically vulnerable areas of china,Nepal,Cambodia,Thailand,and Myanmar in *** results show that off-farm employment is positively associated with household dietary diversity and the consumption of flesh meat,fish and other aquatic animals,fruits,and milk and dairy products,which are rich in protein and *** results of mechanism analysis show that off-farm employment contributes to household dietary diversity by improving crop diversity,especially for poor households,boosting the probability of livestock raising for households with the middle one-third disposal income,and increasing household *** positive association between off-farm employment and household dietary diversity is much higher for households with the bottom one-third disposal income,low illiteracy,and from upper-middle income *** findings imply that off-farm employment does play a vital role in achieving multiple benefits of poverty alleviation,malnutrition reduction,and agrobiodiversity conservation in environmentally and economically vulnerable ***,it may enlarge the gaps in dietary diversity between households with low human capital and from low and lower-middle income countries and those with high human capital and from middle-high countries.

Hyperbranched aromatic polymers were prepared by Friedel-Crafts reaction with Lewis acid, AlCl3 and ZnCl2, as the catalysts. In this work, hyperbranched polybenzyl (PB) and poly(methylene)naphthalene (PN) were synthesized and characterized by H-1-NMR and GPC. In addition, their florescence properties were measured with steady-state florescence spectra in THF and ethylene dichloride. The quantum yields of polybenzyl and poly(methylene)naphthalene in ethylene dichloride are much larger than those in THE.

p53 Gene Mutations in Asbestos Associated Cancers

The accumulation of mutant p53 protein in cancer cells was observed by immunohistochemistry analysis. DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded tissue. Exons 5, 7 and 8 were amplified and studied by PCR-SSCP and sequencing analysis. Ten cases of asbestos associated cancer tissue were studied, of which five cases had adenocarcinoma, and the other five had mesothelioma, squamous carcinoma, small cell lung cancerl adenosquamous carcinoma and malignant lymphoma respectively. Employing monoclonal antibody PAb1801, five cases were found to be mutant p53 protein mpitive. Seven cases were found to have mutations by PCRSSCP. A total of 7 cases (8 mutations) were found to be positive and 4 cases were found to be opitive by both of these analyses. Of the 8 mutations found by SSCP analysis, 4(50%, 4/8)were clustered in exon 8. A high mutation frequency was noticed in adenocarcinoma (80%,4/5). ffequencing analysis on two specimens revealed two hotspot mutations. In codon 234,TAC for tyrooin was mutated to AAC fOr aspar8gine by a T to A transversion of the first letter. In codon 273, CGT for arginine was mutated to AGT for serine by a C to A transversion of the first letter. ln conclusion, the mutation of p53 gene is common in asbestos associated cancers. However, the mutational spectrum of asbestos associated cancers might be different from that of non-asbestos associated cancers.

The concerns over energy crisis and climate change caused by the excessive consumption of fossil fuels and the associated emission of greenhouse gases, have driven many countries to develop policies for an energy transition into zero-carbon energy sources, essentially aiming at decarbonizing their energy systems. Among various renewable sources, hydrogen has been hailed as an ideal alternative to provide secure, cost-effective, and non-polluting energy. In recent years, there has been noteworthy progress in hydrogen electrochemical conversion and utilization techniques and devices, including water electrolyzers, proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), etc. Each of these technologies has yielded a series of encouraging advances. To showcase these recent advances, Frontiers in Energy is launching a special issue titled “electrochemical conversion and utilization of hydrogen energy”.

In near-field communication(NFC)antennas,soft magnetic ferrites are usually applied as a substrate to reduce eddy current loss and increase magnetic field *** this purpose,the applied ferrites are required to have high permeability and saturation magnetization together with low magnetic loss and dielectric ***,for most soft magnetic ferrites,it is difficult to meet all the *** novel Ni-Zn ferrite ceramics co-doped by Ho^(3+)and Co^(2+)ions with chemical formula Ni_(0.5-x)Zn_(0.5)Ho_(0.02)Co_(x)Fe_(1.98)O_(4)(x=0-0.2)were designed and prepared to balance these needs on the basis of molten salt synthesis with metal nitrates as raw materials and potassium hydroxide(KOH)as the precipitation agent and molten salt *** the substitution of Ho^(3+),the saturation magnetization and initial permeability decrease,but with further doping of Co^(2+),the saturation magnetization gradually increases,while the initial permeability continues to *** x=0.1,the sample will have the lowest dielectric constant,magnetic and dielectric loss,as well as the highest Curie temperature(305℃).Moreover,the acquired Ni-Zn ferrites have been applied simulatively in NFC antennas,revealing that the device manufactured with the optimal Ni_(0.4)Zn_(0.5)Ho_(0.02)Co_(0.1)Fe_(1.98)O_(4)ferrite ceramics would have significantly improved performance at 13.56 MHz with low leakage and long transmit distance of magnetic ***,the Ni_(0.4)Zn_(0.5)Ho_(0.02)Co_(0.1)Fe_(1.98)O_(4)ferrite ceramics would be a good candidate for NFC antenna substrates.

The initiation of pipeline spanning involves the coupling between the flow over the pipeline and the seepage-flow in the soil underneath the *** pipeline spanning initiation is experimentally observed and discussed in this *** is qualitatively indicated that the pressure-drop induced soil seepage failure is the predominant cause for pipeline spanning initiation.A flow-pipe-seepage sequential coupling Finite Element Method（FEM） model is proposed to simulate the coupling between the water flow-field and the soil seepage-field.A critical hydraulic gradient is obtained for oblique seepage failure of the sand in the direction tangent to the *** study is performed to investigate the effects of inflow velocity,pipe embedment on the pressure-drop,and the effects of soil internal friction angle and pipe embedment-to-diameter ratio on the critical flow velocity for pipeline spanning *** is indicated that the dimensionless critical flow velocity changes approximately linearly with the soil internal friction angle for the submarine pipeline partially-embedded in a sandy seabed.

Diamond/aluminium composites have attracted attention in the field of thermal management of electronic packaging for their excellent *** order to solve the interfacial problem between diamond and aluminium,a novel process combining pressure infiltration with vacuum-assisted technology was proposed to prepare diamond/aluminum *** effect of diamond particle size on the microstructure and properties of the diamond/Al-12Si composites was *** results show that the diamond/Al-12Si composites exhibit high relative density and a uniform *** thermal conductivity and coefficient of thermal expansion increase with increasing particle size,while the bending strength exhibits the opposite *** the average diamond particle size increases from 45μm to 425μm,the thermal conductivity of the composites increases from 455 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)to 713 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)and the coefficient of thermal expansion increases from 4.97×10^(-6)K^(-1)to 6.72×10^(-6)K^(-1),while the bending strength decreases from 353 MPa to 246 *** research demonstrates that high-quality composites can be prepared by the vacuum-assisted pressure infiltration process and the thermal conductivity of the composites can be effectively improved by increasing the diamond particle size.
