Remarkable recent demonstrations of ultra-low-loss inhibited-coupling(1C)hollow-core photonic-crystal fibres(HCPCFs)established them as serious candidates for next-generation long-haul fibre optics systems.A hindrance to this prospect and also to short-haul applications such as micromachining,where stable and high-quality beam delivery is needed,is the difficulty in designing and fabricating an IC-guiding fibre that combines ultra-low loss,truly robust single-modeness,and polarisation-maintaining *** design solutions proposed to date require a trade-off between low loss and truly ***,we propose a novel IC-HCPCF for achieving low-loss and effective single-mode *** fibre is endowed with a hybrid cladding composed of a Kagome-tubular lattice(HKt).this new concept of a microstructured cladding allows us to significantly reduce the confinement loss and,at the same time,preserve truly robust single-mode *** results show an HKt-IC-HCPCF with a minimum loss of 1.6dB/km at 1050 nm and a higher-order mode extinction ratio as high as 47.0 dB for a 10 m long *** robustness of the fibre single-modeness is tested by moving the fibre and varying the coupling *** design proposed herein opens a new route for the development of HCPCFs that combine robust ultra-low-loss transmission and single-mode beam delivery and provides new insight into IC guidance.

the design of an underground nuclear waste disposal requires a full characterization of concrete under various thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical *** experimental work studied the characterization of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical effects using concretes made with cement CEM I or CEM V/A(according to European norms).Uniaxial and triaxial compression under 5 MPa conﬁning pressure tests were performed under three dif-ferent temperatures(t=20℃,50℃,and 80℃).the two concretes were dried under relative humidity(RH)to obtain a partially saturated state of approximately 70%.the results showed that the effects of water saturation and conﬁning pressure are more important than that of *** in high RH at different target tempera-tures led to an increase in uniaxial and triaxial strength but drying at 105℃ had a negative effect on the strength and Young’s *** drying caused microcracking in the *** microcracks deeply inﬂuenced the thermal damage to the material,affecting its mechanical *** triaxial strength clearly increased due to the presence of conﬁning ***,an important inﬂuence of cement type was observed on the mechanical properties;the concrete based on CEM V/A had a greater porosity than CEM I,and aﬁner pore struc-ture appeared due to the presence of mineral admixtures.

A methodology for identifying and calibrating the material parameters for a coupled hydro-mechanical problem is presented in this pape *** validation purpose,a laboratory-based water infiltration test was numerically simulated using finite element method(FEM).the test was conducted using a self-designed column-type experimental device,which mimicked the wetting process of a candidate backfill material in a nuclear waste *** real-time measurements of key state variables(*** content,relative humidity,temperature,and total stresses)were performed with the monitoring sensors along the height of cylindrical soil *** numerical simulation,the modified Barcelona Basic Model(BBM)along with soil-water retention model for compacted bentonite was *** shows that the identified model parameters successfully captured the moisture migration process under an applied hydraulic gradient in a bentonite-based compacted soil sample.A comparison between the measured and predicted values of total stresses both in axial and lateral directions along with other state variables revealed that heterogeneous moisture content was distributed along the hydration-path,resulting in non-uniform stress-deformation characteristics of soil.

the current standards in radiotherapy of high-grade gliomas(HGG) are based on anatomic imaging techniques, usually computed tomography(Ct) scanning and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). the guidelines vary depending on whether the HGG is a histological grade 3 anaplastic glioma(AG) or a grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme(GBM). For AG, t2-weighted MRI sequences plus the region of contrast enhancement in t1 are considered for the delineation of the gross tumor volume(GtV), and an isotropic expansion of 15 to 20 mm is recommended for the clinical target volume(CtV). For GBM, the Radiation therapy Oncology Group favors a two-step technique, with an initial phase(CtV1) including any t2 hyperintensity area(edema) plus a 20 mm margin treated with up to 46 Gy in 23 fractions, followed by a reduction in CtV2 to the contrast enhancement region in t1 with an additional 25 mm margin. the European Organisation of Research and treatment of Cancer recommends a single-phase technique with a unique GtV, which comprises the t1 contrast enhancement region plus a margin of 20 to 30 mm. A total dose of 60 Gy in 30 fractions is usually delivered for GBM, and a dose of 59.4 Gy in 33 fractions is typically given for AG. As more than 85% of HGGs recur in field, dose-escalation studies have shown that 70 to 75 Gy can be delivered in 6 weeks with relevant toxicities developing in the patients. However, the only randomized dose-escalation trial, in which the boost dose was guided by conventional MRI, did not show any survival advantage of this treatment over the reference arm. HGGs are amongst the most infiltrative and heterogeneous tumors, and it was hypothesized that the most highly aggressive areas were missed; thus, better visualization of these high-risk regions for radiation boost could decrease the recurrence rate. BACKGROUND Chronic abdominal pain is the most common cause for gastroenterology consultation and is frequently associated with functional gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. these disorders present similar brain/gut/microbiota trialogue alterations, associated with abnormal intestinal permeability, intestinal dysbiosis and colonic hypersensitivity(CHS). In the context of global efforts to mitigate climate change by pursuing sustainable energy sources, wind energy has emerged as a critical contributor. However, the wind energy industry faces substantial challenges in maintaining and preserving the integrity of wind turbine blades. timely and accurate detection and classification of blade faults, encompassing issues such as cracks, erosion, and ice buildup, are imperative to uphold wind turbines' ongoing efficiency and safety. this study introduces an inventive approach that amalgamates hyperspectral imaging and 3D Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to augment the precision and efficiency of wind turbine blade fault detection and classification. Hyperspectral imaging is harnessed to capture comprehensive spectral information from blade surfaces, facilitating exact fault identification. the process is streamlined through Incremental Principal Component Analysis (IPCA), reducing data dimensions while maintaining integrity. the 3D CNN model demonstrates remarkable performance, achieving high accuracy in detecting all fault categories in full-band hyperspectral images. the model retains high accuracy even with dimensionality reduction to 20 spectral bands. the reduced processing time of the 20-band image enhances the practicality of real-world applications, thereby reducing downtime and maintenance expenditures. this research represents a significant advancement in wind turbine blade inspection, contributing to the sustainability and dependability of wind energy systems and furthering the cause of a cleaner and more sustainable energy future as part of the broader fight against climate change.
