Low-complexity online correction and calibration of pedestrian dead reckoning using map matching and GPs

Dead Reckoning is a relative positioning scheme that is used to infer the change of position relative to a point of origin by measuring the traveled distance and orientation *** Dead Reckoning(PDR)applies this concept to walking *** method can be used to track someone's movement in a building after a known landmark like the building's entrance is ***,the movement of a foot and the corresponding direction change is measured and summed up,to infer the current *** and integrating the corresponding physical parameters,*** inertial sensors,introduces small errors that accumulate quickly into large distance *** of a buildings geography may reduce these errors as it can be used to keep the estimated position from moving through walls and onto likely *** this paper,we use building maps to improve localization based on a single foot-mounted inertial *** describe our localization method using zero velocity updates to accurately compute the length of individual steps and a Madgwick filter to determine the step *** though the computation of individual steps is quite accurate,small errors still accumulate in the long *** show how correction algorithms using likely and unlikely paths can rectify errors intrinsic to pedestrian dead reckoning tasks,such as orientation and displacement drift,and discuss restrictions and disadvantages of these *** also present a method of deriving the initial position and orientation from GPs *** verify our PDR correction methods analyzing the corrected and raw trajectories of six participants walking four routes of varying length and complexity through an office building,walking each route three *** quantitative results show an endpoint accuracy improvement of up to 60%when using likely paths and 23%when using unlikely ***,both approaches can also decrease accuracy in certain *** identify those scenarios and

Organic ammonium halides enhance the performance of Pb-sn perovskite solar cells

With the efforts of scientists around the world,the power conversion efficiency(PCE)of perovskite solar cells(PsCs)has reached 25.7%.To further improve the efficiency and break through the shockley-Queisser(s-Q)limit,it is promising to construct all-perovskite tandem solar cells via combining wide-bandgap and narrow-bandgap perovskites[1−5].As the key light-harvesting material for the bottom cell in all-per-ovskite tandem devices,the narrow-bandgap Pb-sn mixed per-ovskites have attracted increasing interest in recent years[6−8].However,the Pb-sn mixed perovskites suffer from uncontrol-lable crystallization,easy oxidation of sn2+and high defect density,which significantly limit PCE improvement[9,10].Organ-ic ammonium halides can improve the efficiency and stabil-ity of Pb-sn mixed PsCs.

Exercise behaviors and barriers to exercise in adult burn survivors: A questionnaire survey

Exercise is a key component of burn rehabilitation across all phases of care. supervised outpatient exercise programs have been shown to improve outcomes following burn injury. However, little is known about the exercise behaviors of burn survivors who do not undertake such programs. This study aimed to investigate self-reported exercise behaviors and barriers to exercise in adult burn survivors. A short questionnaire survey was conducted on adult burn survivors attending the ambulatory burns clinic of a tertiary hospital over a 6-week period. The collected data were subjected to paired t-tests and Pearson's correlation test. A total of 63 adult burn survivors (mean age 36.5 years) completed the questionnaire. Participants reported exercising less frequently and engaged in fewer different types of exercise compared with pre-burn (P sical conditions and low motivation and enthusiasm were the major barriers to exercise. Participation in supervised exercise programs can be limited by a range of factors including the availability of resources and access to facilities. This preliminary study suggests that there is a need to improve compliance with outpatient exercise programs. Burn survivors appear to exercise less frequently after burn injury. Barriers to exercise following burn injury include poor physical condition and reduced motivation. Further investigation into overall physical activity following burn injury and potential physical and psychological limitations is warranted. Burn clinicians should highly encourage injury survivors to participate in supervised exercise programs when available or to do exercises at home to maximize post-burn injury recovery.

Reaping the Economic Benefits of Decarbonization for China

Chinaneeds to reduce its carbon emissions if global climate change mitigation is to succeed. Conventional economic analysis views cutting emissions as a cost, creating a collective action problem. However, decarbonization can improve productivity andprovide co-benefits that accord with multiple national policy objectives. We track China ＇ s progress in reducing the emissions intensity of the economy, and construct a macro scenario with China＇s carbon emissions peaking in the 2020s. Investment in greater energy productivity and economic restructuring away from heavy industries can bring productivity gains, and decarbonization of energy supply has important co-benefits for airpollution and energy security. Combined with lower climate change risks and the likelihood thai China＇s actions will influence other countries, this suggests that cutting carbon emissions is not only in China＇s self-interest but also in the global interest. To properly identify the true costs and benefits of climate change action requires new thinking in economic analysis.

Financialization of the Economy and Income Inequality in China

The income gap between the financial sector and other sectors has been widening since the mid-1990s. Why do financiers in China earn more than others? We analyze this issue against the background of financialization of the economy. The year 1993 was a watershed year, in which China began the process of rapid financialization. since 1993, the financial sector has become increasingly powerful, overshadowing other sectors. Evidence shows that the high income levels that exist in the financial sector are related to this process of financialization in China. Financialization influences income distribution in China through two channels: money issuance and liquidation of social capital. The labor market equilibrium of the financial sector and wage level determination are not naturally formed but constructed. The increasing income inequality between the financial sector and other sectors is a consequence of financialization of the economy in China.

Backstepping approach for design of PID controller with guaranteed performance for micro-air UAV

Flight controllers for micro-air UAVs are generally designed using proportional-integral-derivative(PID)methods,where the tuning of gains is difficult and time-consuming,and performance is not *** this paper,we develop a rigorous method based on the sliding mode analysis and nonlinear backstepping to design a PID controller with guaranteed *** technique provides the structure and gains for the PID controller,such that a robust and fast response of the UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle)for trajectory tracking is ***,the second-order sliding variable errors are used in a rigorous nonlinear backstepping design to obtain guaranteed performance for the nonlinear UAV ***,using a small angle approximation and rigorous geometric manipulations,this nonlinear design is converted into a PID controller whose structure is naturally determined through the backstepping *** gains that guarantee robust UAV performance are finally computed from the sliding mode gains and from stabilizing gains for tracking error *** prove that the desired Euler angles of the inner attitude controller loop are related to the dynamics of the outer backstepping tracker loop by inverse kinematics,which provides a seamless connection with existing built-in UAV attitude *** implement the proposed method on actual UAV,and experimental flight tests prove the validity of these *** is seen that our PID design procedure yields tighter UAV performance than an existing popular PID control technique.

Prediction of photovoltaic power output based on different non-linear autoregressive artificial neural network algorithms

Prediction of power output plays a vital role in the installation and operation of photovoltaic *** this paper,two photovoltaic module technologies,amorphous silicon and copper indium gallium selenide installed outdoors on the rooftop of the University of Dodoma,located at 6.5738°s and 36.2631°E in Tanzania,were used to record the power output during the winter *** average data of ambient temperature,module temperature,solar irradiance,relative humidity,and wind speed recorded is used to predict the power output using a non-linear autoregressive artificial neural *** consider the Levenberg-Marquardt optimization,Bayesian regularization,resilient propagation,and scaled conjugate gradient algorithms to understand their abilities in training,testing and validating the data.A comparison with reference to the performance indices:coefficient of determination,root mean square error,mean absolute percentage error,and mean absolute bias error is drawn for both *** to the findings of our investigation,the predicted results are in good agreement with the experimental *** the algorithms performed better,and the predicted power out of both modules using the Bayesian regularization algorithm is observed to exhibit good processing capabilities compared to the other three algorithms that are evident from the measured performance indices.

Additive manufacturing of copper-stainless steel hybrid components using laser-aided directed energy deposition

Combining dissimilar materials in a single component is an effective solution to integrate diverse material properties into a single ***-stainless steel hybrid components are attracting more and more attention since the high thermal conductivity of copper can greatly enhance the thermal performance of stainless steel,which benefits its applications in many ***,direct joining of copper and stainless steel such as ss316 L is challenging since they preserve significant dissimilarities in physical,chemical,and thermo-mechanical *** paper aims to fabricate well-bonded copper-ss316 L hybrid parts using a laser-aided directed energy deposition(DED) process.A nickel-based alloy Deloro22(D22) is introduced between copper and ss316 L to address the detrimental issues in copper-ss316 L direct *** this technique,defect-free interfaces are achieved at both the D22-ss316 L and copper-D22 transition *** testing of Cu-D22-ss316 L and D22-ss316 L hybrid parts shows the fracture occurs at pure copper and ss316 L region,respectively,indicating an excellent bonding at the *** in the building direction,a transition of grain structure is observed.A significant diffusion zone is obtained at both the D22-ss316 L and the Cu-D22 *** large diffusion distance results in a smooth variation in microhardness over the dissimilar *** microhardness increases from ss316 L to D22 with the highest value of 240 HV and then decreases from D22 to Cu with the lowest value of 63 ± 4 *** of thermophysical properties of the Cu-D22-ss316 L system indicates there is a ~300 % increase in thermal diffusivity and a ~200 % increase in thermal conductivity when compared to pure ss316 *** significant increase in thermal diffusivity and conductivity validates the enhanced thermal performance of ss316 L when it is joined with pure copper.
