Review of the treatment of liver hydatid cysts

A review was carried out in Medline,LILACS and the Cochrane *** database search strategy included the following terms: "hydatid cyst","liver","management","meta-analysis" and "randomized controlled trial".No language limits were used in the literature *** latest electronic search date was the 7th of January *** and exclusion criteria: all relevant studies on the assessment of therapeutic methods for hydatid cysts of the liver were considered for *** from editorials,letters to publishers,low quality review articles and studies done on animals were excluded from ***,well-structured abstracts from relevant articles were selected and accepted for *** forms were designed for data extraction; two investigators entered the data on patient demographics,methodology,recurrence of HC,mean cyst size and number of cysts per *** hundred and fourteen articles were identified using the previously described search *** applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria detailed above,57 articles were selected for final analysis: one meta-analysis,9 randomized clinical trials,5 non-randomized comparative prospective studies,7 non-comparative prospective studies,and 34 retrospective studies(12 comparative and 22 noncomparative).Our results indicate that antihelminthic treatment alone is not the ideal treatment for liver hydatid *** studies in the literature support the effectiveness of radical treatment compared with conservative *** surgery with omentoplasty is effective in preventing postoperative complications.A laparoscopic approach is safe in some *** drainage with albendazole therapy is a safe and effective alternative treatment for hydatid cysts of the *** surgery with preand post-operative administration of albendazole is the best treatment option for liver hydatid cysts due to low recurrence and complication rates.

In the first issue of the recently launched journal,Medicine Plus,Lu et al.[1]report on a remarkable effort encompassing nearly 600 young participants examined at five centers in *** focus was on the first episode early-onset schizophrenia(EOS;onset before age 18 years)and autism spectrum disorder(ASD),contrasted to each other and healthy controls(HC).Historically,autism was initially considered a form of infantile schizophrenia,although it was differentiated from early-onset schizophrenia as early as 1955 by Eisenberg and Kanner[2].

Strain engineering,as a powerful strategy to tune the optical and electrical properties of two-dimensional(2D)materials by deforming their crystal lattice,has attracted significant interest in recent years.2D materials can sustain ultra-high strains,even up to 10%,due to the lack of dangling bonds on their surface,making them ideal brittle *** remarkable mechanical resilience,together with a strong strain-tunable band structure,endows 2D materials with a broad optical and electrical response upon ***,strain engineering based on 2D materials is restricted by their nanoscale and strain quantification *** this study,we have modified a homebuilt three-points bending apparatus to transform it into a four-points bending apparatus that allows for the application of both compressive and tensile strains on 2D *** approach allows for the efficient and reproducible construction of a strain system and minimizes the buckling effect caused by the van der Waals interaction by adamantane encapsulation *** results demonstrate the feasibility of introducing compressive strain on 2D materials and the potential for tuning their optical and physical properties through this approach.

Agave salmiana ash and poultry eggshell powder as CaO sources were used for obtaining nanostructured hydro-xyapatite(HAP).The synthesis was carried out by the Green Chemistry Hydrothermal Biosynthesis at 180℃ with a pH of 5,by reacting CaO from Agave Salmiana ash and Eggshell powder,with dibasic caldium phosphate(CaH-PO_(4)+2H_(2)O)in an aqueous solution,with Aloe barbadensis *** product was characterized by X-ray dif-fraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM).The size and shape of the hydroxyapatite particles changed dramati-cally in the presence of Aloe *** crystals of Hydroxyapatite were observed when Eggshell powder and Agave salmiana ash were used as raw materials in the presence of the Aloe barbadensis *** with shapes of ribbons and plates from 1 micrometers to 8 micrometers were observed when using the eggshell powder in the presence of Aloe bar badensis and,in the case of Agave salmiana ash in the presence of Aloe bar-badensis,crystals with shapes of quadra ngular prisms and hexagonal(polyhedra)with sizes from 2 micrometers to 20 micrometers were *** was therefore successfully biosynthesized by a green and sus-tainable method that reduces the environmental impact.

AIM: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant streptokinase(rSK) vs hydrocortisone acetate-based suppositories in acute hemorrhoidal ***: A multicenter(11 sites), randomized(1:1:1), open, controlled trial with parallel groups was performed. All participating patients gave their written,informed consent. After inclusion, patients with acute symptoms of hemorrhoids were centrally randomized to receive, as outpatients, by the rectal route, suppositories of rSK 200000 IU of one unit every 8 h(first 3 units)and afterwards every 12 h until 8 administrations were completed(schedule A), one unit every 8 h until 6 units were completed(schedule B), or 25 mg hydrocortisone acetate once every 8 h up to a maximum of 24 administrations. Evaluations were performed at 3, 5,and 10 d post-inclusion. The main end-point was the 5thday response(disappearance of pain and bleeding, and≥ 70% reduction of the lesion size). Time to response and need for thrombectomy were secondary efficacy variables. Adverse events were also ***: Groups were homogeneous with regards to demographic and baseline characteristics. Fifth day complete response rates were 156/170(91.8%; 95%CI:87.3-96.2), 155/170(91.2%; 95%CI: 86.6%-95.7%),and 46/170(27.1%; 95%CI: 20.1%-34.0%) with rSK(schedule A and B) and hydrocortisone acetate suppositories, respectively. These 64.6% and 63.9%differences(95%CI: 56.7%-72.2% and 55.7%-72.0%)were highly significant(P < 0.001). This advantage was detected since the early 3rd day evaluation(68.8% and64.1% vs 7.1% for the rSK and active control groups,respectively; P < 0.001) and was maintained even at the late 10 th day assessment(97.1% and 93.5% vs67.1% for rSK and hydrocortisone acetate, respectively;P < 0.001). Time to response was 3 d(95%CI: 2.9-3.1)for both rSK groups and 10 d(95%CI: 9.3-10.7) in the hydrocortisone acetate group. This difference was highly significant(P < 0.001).
