Hydrochar and synthetic natural gas co-production for a full circular economy implementation via hydrothermal carbonization and methanation:An economic approach

Herein we study the economic performance of hydrochar and synthetic natural gas coproduction from olive tree *** process entails a combination of hydrothermal carbonization and *** a previous work,we evidenced that standalone hydrochar production via HTC results ***,we propose a step forward on the process design by implementing a methanation,adding value to the gas effluent in an attempt to boost the overall process techno-economic *** different plant capacities were analyzed(312.5,625 and 1250 kg/hr).The baseline scenarios showed that,under the current circumstances,our circular economy strategy in *** analysis of the revenues shows that hydrochar selling price have a high impact on NPV and subsidies for renewable coal production could help to boost the profitability of the *** the contrary,the analysis for natural gas prices reveals that prices 8 times higher than the current ones in Spain must be achieved to reach *** seems unlikely even under the presence of a strong subsidy *** costs analysis suggests that a remarkable electricity cost reduction or electricity consumption of the HTC stage could be a potential strategy to reach profitability ***,significant reduction of green hydrogen production costs is deemed instrumental to improve the economic performance of the *** results show the formidable techno-economic challenge that our society faces in the path towards circular economy societies.

We present a comprehensive catalog with an updated database of the fossil record of Diplopoda in the *** data was collected from descriptions and reports published from 1854 to the *** also include new records from Mexican amber(Upper Oligocene-Lower Miocene),counting 83 unknown fossil inclusions,with the first records of the orders Polyxenida,Platydesmida,and julida,as well as the families Sphaeriodesmidae and Trichopolydesmidae within *** to our results,Diplopoda counts 413 records featuring 299 distinct taxa ranging from the Middle Silurian to the Upper Pleistocene,representing three subclasses,two subterclasses,six superorders,25 orders,15 superfamilies,55 families,93 genera,and 161 fossil *** date,no fossils of the order Siphonocryptida have been *** fossil record extends over three geological eras:the Paleozoic,with 161 taxa,including 97 species;the Mesozoic,with 53 taxa and 22 species;and the Cenozoic,with 85 taxa and 42 *** referred material shows different forms of fossil *** comprises 123 impressions,99 compressions,26 ichnites,predominantly from Paleozoic and Mesozoic sediments,and 165 amber inclusions from late Mesozoic and Cenozoic ***,this catalog allows us to estimate the size and taxonomic composition of Diplopoda in the fossil record worldwide.

Stress tensors and quantification of fracture patterns to analyze connectivity and potential fluid flow in a mesa landform of the Northern Andes

This work applies stress tensors inversions and quantification of fracture patterns along the Mesa de Los Santos, in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, to better understand the potential fluid flow. It thus contributes to the conceptual hydrogeological model. The area was subdivided into three blocks, separated by the NW Potreros and the Los Santos faults, having minor inner faults of different orientations. This separation facilitates the analysis of the fractures measured in the field, which in general show high dip angles and a conjugate geometry in the northern block, tension fractures(Mode I) in the central block, and a random distribution in the southwestern block. WinTensor treatment of slickensides yielded a maximum horizontal stress(SHmax) of 111o, which coincides with the WNW-ESE tensor observed from the conjugate and tension joints. We then used Frac Pa Q to generate interpolation maps of fracture intensity and density. The maps show the highest values in the central block and the lowest in the northern block,where the precipitation is higher, causing intensive rock weathering and homogenization of the fracture planes. Although the highest values of connectivity by line are found to the south of the mesa, we suggest the possibility of greater flow from the recharge zone(NE) along bedding planes and open NW-SE fractures.

We calculate numerically the optical chiral forces in rectangular cross-section dielectric waveguides for potential enantiomer *** study considers force strength and time needed for separating chiral nanoparticles,mainly via quasi-TE guided modes at short wavelengths(405 nm)and the 90°-phase-shifted combination of quasi-TE and quasi-TM modes at longer wavelengths(1310 nm).Particle tracking simulations show successful enantiomer separation within two *** results suggest the feasibility of enantiomeric separation of nanoparticles displaying sufficient chirality using simple silicon photonic integrated circuits,with wavelength selection based on the nanoparticle size.

Morphometric Attributes of Two Native Forage Species According to Water Source Distance in Semiarid Central Grasslands of Argentina

The semiarid grasslands of Argentina’s central region have been modified by domestic livestock grazing,both in their composition and *** increase in the proportion of woody and non-forage species and the decrease in forage species are some of the most evident results of this *** is limited available information about the effect of differential grazing pressures on morphometric attributes of native species,and it also depends on the life histories of the species in this *** objective of this work was to evaluate some morphometric aspects in the grasses Poa ligularis Nees ex Steud and Piptochaetium napostaense(Speg.).Hack according to distance from the water source in communities in the central semiarid region of *** study area included areas of low grassland,golden forests,and secondary forests in grasslands(6 fields with 9 paddocks).Grazing pressure was established based on the distance to the water source,so sampling areas were designated near the water source(grazing pressure is greater)and far from the water source(grazing pressure light)in each of the *** both species,specimens were selected at random,and the following attributes were measured:crown diameter at ground level(cm),burial depth(cm),average tiller weight per plant(***^(−1)),and the density of tillers per unit of crown surface(***^(−2)crown).The morphometric attributes evaluated showed differences according to the distance to the watering hole and in the different *** species presented similar behaviors for the *** were significant differences in the depth of burial and the average weight of tillers per plant,being greater in the areas close to the water *** the distance to the watering hole,there were no significant differences in crown diameter and tiller density,but the highest values were recorded for the former near the watering hole and for the second far from the watering *** pastures with low

From Rejection to Embracement:The Catholic Perception of Spiritism in Brazil

The history of the relationship between Spiritism and Catholicism in Brazil can be traced through pivotal moments in the trajectory of the First Republic and the religious field since the 19th century,reflecting Brazil’s evolution into a modern,urban,and industrial *** to Brazil in the 1880s,Spiritism initially faced severe opposition from the Catholic Church,being dismissed as superstition and demon worship due to its engagement with death and *** Christianity,Spiritism denies the divinity of jesus,the resurrection,and the sanctity of Church sacraments,viewing demons and angels merely as disembodied souls at different spiritual *** perceptions were further complicated by the mixing of Spiritism with African and indigenous rites,which led critics to associate it with madness and mental health ***,the relationship between Catholicism and Spiritism in Brazil has evolved positively,particularly following the popularization of Spiritism by figures like Chico *** Brazilian society,characterized by increased education and religious syncretism,has grown more tolerant of diverse practices and beliefs,diminishing historical prejudices against *** qualitative study,drawing on scholarly research and first-hand interviews,reveals that Spiritism's acceptance among Brazilian Catholics is due to its convergence with contemporary social values and the evolving profile of the average *** possessing a religion-like character,Spiritism is seen less as a distinct religion and more as a complementary set of practices and beliefs that enhance Catholic *** phenomenon mirrors the integration of Agama Hindu practices,reinforcing rather than undermining traditional religious identities.

A variety of research reports on novel supramolecular topologies have been published over the last ***,it is still a great challenge to tap into the inner functional properties of these ***,two tetranuclear metallamacrocycles 1 and 2 and four octonuclear[2]catenanes 3-6 were constructed successfully via a coordination-driven self-assembly strategy,by conscious design and use of the tetramethyl bidentate pyridine ligand L1,and the appropriate selection of six binuclear half-sandwich rhodium building units with different longitudinal *** complexes have been fully characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and NMR ***,near-infrared photothermal studies of the obtained[2]catenanes reveal different photothermal response in solid and solution states,which may be attributed to a strong fluorescence quenching effect of the half-sandwich organometallic fragment and different conjugated effect of Cp^(*)Rh based building blocks in the interlocking *** photothermal conversion efficiencies of[2]catenanes 4-6 fall in the range 30.5%-16.5% *** contribution aims to play a key role in the experimental development of Cp^(*)-based photothermal materials.

Effects of crop residues for animal consumption and soil enhancement on the electricity generation potential of residues:A case study of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district,Ghana

Many studies have estimated the potential of crop residues for energy generation globally and recognized its great potential,especially in rural areas where on-grid electricity is ***,crop residues have other equally important uses as animal feed and as mulch for soil enhancement,especially in rural farming ***,most of the known studies have neglected the estimation of the quantity of crop residues that will be required for feeding animals and also for the enhancement of soil through mulching in their energy potential estimation from crop *** these two important uses can lead to the over-exploitation of the residues for energy generation at the expense of conservation agriculture practices as well as depriving animals of quality feed which can lead to low crop yield and animal production,with the ability to cause hunger and *** study has assessed the potential of electricity generation from agricultural residues in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district of Ghana using gasification technology,taking cognizance of the proportion of residues needed for animal consumption and soil *** results of the study indicate that out of the 207646.22 t of residues that can be generated from maize,yam,cassava,millet,sorghum,and groundnut,26830.36 t(representing 13%)will be required by sheep,goats,and cows for consumption,and 13936.17 t(representing 7%)will be required for mulching soils where the crops are ***,it was found that a total of 592.17 MW∙h of electricity can be generated from crop residues without animal consumption and soil enhancement needs,while 461.89 MW∙h could be generated from the residues,considering animal feed and soil *** study has indicated that it is not enough to consider soil enhancement and animal feeding in agricultural biomass power generation through recovery factors without the exact quantification of residues required for these purposes since this can lead to a vi

This work shows the synthesis,characterization and evaluation of dense-ceramic membranes made of Ce_(0.85)Gd_(0.15)O_(2-δ)-LaNiO_(3)(CG-LN)composites,where the fluorite-perovskite ratio(CG:LN)was varied as follows:75:25,80:20 and 85:15 wt.%.Supports were initially characterized by XRD,SEM and electrical conductivity(using vacuum and oxygen atmospheres),to determine the composition,microstructural and ionic-electronic conductivity ***,supports were infiltrated with an eutectic carbonates mixture,producing the corresponding dense dual-phase membranes,in which CO_(2)permeation tests were ***,CO_(2)permeation experiments were performed from 900 to 700℃,in the presence and absence of oxygen(flowed in the sweep membrane side).Results showed that these composites possess high CO_(2)permeation properties,where the O_(2)addition significantly improves the ionic conduction on the sweep membrane ***,the GC80-LN20 composition presented the best results due to the following physicochemical characteristics:high electronic and ionic conductivity,appropriate porosity,interconnected porous channels,as well as thermal and chemical stabilities between the composite support and carbonate phases.
