Time and cost are two of the most important factors to consider in each construction project. In order to maximize performance, both the client and the contractor will work to optimize both the duration of the project and its cost. We show a model of linear entire mixed programming to solve the considered problem. The aim is to minimize the project total time, by means of the assignment of equipments of work to the different production lines of the activities to realizing. The fundamental beginning is to support the same production （rate of production in meters/day of the activity in view of the equipment of work） for tbe different equipments to achieve the maximum efficiency in each period of time. With the limited availability of resources, the work must be continuous and the period of time between operations and final must be kept. However, this paper also presents the bibliographical study on methodologies of the optimization of construction processes in response to the two objectives： time and cost. This will consider the use of recta-heuristic techniques, such as population based algorithms.

A general and easy-to-code numerical method based on radial basis functions(RBFs)collocation is proposed for the solution of delay differential equations(DDEs).It relies on the interpolation properties of infinitely smooth RBFs,which allow for a large accuracy over a scattered and relatively small discretization ***’s multiquadric is chosen as RBF and combined with the Residual Subsampling Algorithm of Driscoll and Heryudono for support *** performance of the method is very satisfactory,as demonstrated over a cross-section of benchmark DDEs,and by comparison with existing general-purpose and specialized numerical schemes for DDEs.

Dieulafoy’s lesions are rare vascular malformations of the gastrointestinal tract. A Dieulafoy’s lesion is an aberrant vessel that does not reduce in caliber when it extends from the submucosa to the mucosa. Damage to this artery can cause severe and intermittent arterial bleeding from small vascular stumps that are difficult to visualize. Furthermore, these catastrophic bleeding episodes frequently result in hemodynamic instability and the need for transfusion of multiple blood products. Recently, uremic syndrome has been identified as a risk factor for gastric mucosal lesions. We present two clinical cases of acute digestive bleeding due to Dielafoy lesion with chronic kidney disease as the main cause, where two different therapies were performed endoscopically. We concluded with the results of our patients that the best therapy was the application of the hemostatic hemoclip on the injury vs the injection with adrenaline on the wound site. Uremia is identified as a risk factor for upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with pre-existing Dieulafoy’s lesion, as well as a higher incidence of new bleeding.

AIM: To summarize the evidence available for the clinical effectiveness of insulin sensitizers in the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) systematically. METHODS: Relevant articles were located using computer-assisted searches of Medline (1966-March 2006), EMBASE (1988-March 2006), CINAHL (1982-March 2003), Educational Resource Information Center (1966-March 2006), Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (1967-March 2006), Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (1994-2006), dissertations in ProQuest and FirstSearch databases. Manual searches were made in the abstracts from meetings of the American Gastroenterological Association (1999-2006), and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (2003-2005). Studies were retrieved using the following selection criteria: (1) clinical trials using insulin sensitizers in subjects with NAFLD, (2) adult patients, (3) published as full manuscripts or abstracts, and (4) English, Spanish, German, and French languages only. Data were abstracted independently by two reviewers following standardized procedures. A face-to- face comparison of data was conducted to ensure the completeness and reliability of the abstraction process. RESULTS: Nine studies were included, six using metformin and three using thiazolidinediones. Only two studies were placebo-controlled trials. The mediansample size for all studies was 18 subjects. In the placebo-controlled trials, metformin improved insulin resistance markers and liver function tests, but not histological scores. In the single-arm trials, metformin and thiazolidinediones improved insulin resistance markers and liver function tests, and beneficial histological changes were reported. Empirical approach for reliability evaluation of tunnel excavation stability using the Q rock mass classification system

The critical strain concept has been widely used in analytical or numerical approaches to evaluate the stability of underground ***,empirical,and numerical procedures are usually used to determine the critical strain *** paper presents a reliability assessment procedure for evaluating excavation stability using the empirical approach based on the rock mass classification Q and the first order reliability method(FORM).In contrast to deterministic critical strain values,a probabilistic critical strain,which considers uncertainties in rock mass parameters,was incorporated in a limit state function for reliability *** the rock mass classification Q,the empirically estimated tunnel stain was included in the limit state *** critical strain and estimated tunnel strain were probabilistically characterized based on the rock mass classification Q-derived rock mass *** Carlo simulations were also conducted for comparing the reliability analysis results with those derived from the FORM algorithm.A highway tunnel case study was used to demonstrate the reliability assessment *** effects of the input ground parameter correlations,probability distributions,and coefficients of variation on tunnel reliability were *** show that uncorrelated and normally distributed input parameters(intact rock strength and elastic modulus)have generated more conservative *** reliability analysis results also show that the tunnel had relatively high reliability(reliability index of 2.78 and probability of failure of 0.27%),indicating the tunnel is not expected to experience instability after *** tunnel excavation stability was assessed using analytical and numerical approaches for *** results were consistent with the reliability analysis using the FORM algorithm’s Q-based empirical method.

Background:Emerging research supports the idea that exercise positively affects ***,the mechanisms linking exercise with brain health are largely *** aimed to investigate the effect of exercise on(a)blood biomarkers selected based on previous evidence(brainderived neurotrophic factor,β-hydroxybutyrate(BHB),cathepsin B(CTSB),kynurenine,fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21),soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(sVCAM-1));and(b)a panel of 92 neurology-related proteins(discovery analysis).We also investigated whether changes in these biomarkers mediate the effects of exercise on brain health(hippocampal structure and function,cognitive performance,and mental health).Methods:We randomized 81 overweight/obese children(10.1±1.1 years,41%girls)into 2 groups:either 20 weeks of aerobic plus resistance exercise or *** biomarkers were assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)for kynurenine,FGF21,and CTSB;colorimetry forβ-hydroxybutyrate;and XMap for brain-derived neurotrophic factor and soluble vascular cell adhesion ***92 neurology-related proteins were analyzed by an antibody-based proteomic ***:Our intervention had no significant effect on candidate biomarkers(all p>0.05).In the discovery analysis,a reduction in circulating macrophage scavenger receptor type-I was observed(standardized differences between groups=-0.3,p=0.001).This effect was validated using ELISA methods(standardized difference=-0.3,p=0.01).None of the biomarkers mediated the effects of exercise on brain ***:Our study does not support a chronic effect of exercise on candidate *** observed that while chronic exercise reduced the levels of macrophage scavenger receptor type-Ⅰ,it did not mediate the effects of exercise on brain *** studies should explore the implications of this novel biomarker for overall health.
