With the rapid development of DNA technologies, high throughput genomic data have become a powerful leverage to locate desirable genetic loci associated with traits of importance in various crop species. However, current genetic association mapping analyses are focused on identifying individual QTLs. This study aimed to identify a set of QTLs or genetic markers, which can capture genetic variability for marker-assisted selection. Selecting a set with k loci that can maximize genetic variation out of high throughput genomic data is a challenging issue. In this study, we proposed an adaptive sequential replacement (ASR) method, which is considered a variant of the sequential replacement (SR) method. Through monte Carlo simulation and comparing with four other selection methods: exhaustive, SR method, forward, and backward methods we found that the ASR method sustains consistent and repeatable results comparable to the exhaustive method with much reduced computational intensity.

肾病综合征常常并发静脉和动脉的血栓栓塞。通常提到的原因是血小板聚集增加,纤维蛋白原和其他促凝素的水平增高,抗凝血酶Ⅲ和纤维蛋白溶酶原的水平降低。我们发现40例肾病综合征病人的α;2;-抗纤维蛋白溶酶水平降低的发生率高,与血清白蛋白和抗凝血酶Ⅲ水平相关。因为α;2;-抗纤维蛋白溶酶是纤维蛋白血栓溶解灵敏性的一个主要的决定因素,而且又由于其水平的降低必将促进纤维蛋白溶解。我们的结论是很多肾病综合征病人的抗纤维蛋白溶酶水平的降低,可能有助于减少由于降低抗凝血酶Ⅲ水平而引起血栓形成的危险。肾病综合征并发静脉和动脉血栓栓塞的倾向,导致相当多关于大量蛋白尿对止血系统影响的研究。曾认为引起血栓形成的主要因素是纤维蛋白原和其他促

Background and purpose:Despite HIV testing and counselling(HTC)being recognized as important elements of any effective prevention,detection,care,and management programmes across many societies as part of their primary health care package,it is surprising that research evidence on related issues,especially in developing countries like Ghana is *** study examined the extent of knowledge,attitudes and utilisation of HIV testing,and counselling services among trainee nurses of the public nursing and midwifery training colleges in the Central Region of *** and results:A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed to collect data from 375 nursing and midwifery students using multistage sampling *** showed that students’HTC knowledge was high(85%)whereas attitudes toward HTC were rated positive(95%).However,HTC utilisation was low(47%).Further results revealed a statistically significant difference between class level and HTC utilisation(χ2[1,N=375]=14.263,p=0.000).In contrast,no statistically significant differences in student nurses’class level and HTC knowledge(χ2[1,N=375]=0.624,p=0.475)as well as class level and attitudes toward HTC services(χ2[1,N=375]=2.334,p=0.158)were ***:The low HTC utilisation among the student nurses may potentially lead to missing opportunities for early diagnoses,care,treatment,and support services for primary,secondary or tertiary prevention *** of programmes by college authorities on the importance of HTC and the need for student nurses to utilise these services is crucial.

Comminuted olecranon fracture fixation with pre-contoured plate:Comparison of composite and cadaver bones

AIM: To determine whether use of a precontoured olecranon plate provides adequate fixation to withstand supraphysiologic force in a comminuted olecranon fracture ***: Five samples of fourth generation composite bones and five samples of fresh frozen human cadaveric left ulnae were utilized for this study. The cadaveric specimens underwent dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA) scanning to quantify the bone quality. The composite and cadaveric bones were prepared by creating a comminuted olecranon fracture and fixed with a pre-contoured olecranon plate with locking screws. Construct stiffness and failure load were measured by subjecting specimens to cantilever bending moments until failure. Fracture site motion was measured with differential variable resistance transducer spanning the fracture. Statistical analysis was performed with two-tailed Mann-Whitney-U test with monte Carlo Exact ***: There was a significant difference in fixation stiffness and strength between the composite bones and human cadaver bones. Failure modes differed in cadaveric and composite specimens. The load to failure for the composite bones(n = 5) and human cadaver bones(n = 5) specimens were 10.67 nm(range 9.40-11.91 nm) and 13.05 nm(range 12.59-15.38 nm) respectively. This difference was statistically significant(P ? 0.007, 97% power). Median stiffness for composite bones and human cadaver bones specimens were 5.69 nm/mm(range 4.69-6.80 nm/mm) and 7.55 nm/mm(range 6.31-7.72 nm/mm). There was a significant difference for stiffness(P ? 0.033, 79% power) between composite bones and cadaveric bones. No correlation was found between the DEXA results and stiffness. All cadaveric specimens withstood the physiologic load anticipated postoperatively. Catastrophic failure occurred in all composite specimens. All failures resulted from composite bone failure at the distal screw site and not hardware failure. There were no catastrophic fracture failures in the cadaveric specimens. Fa
