依据湖北恩施太阳河灯草坪奥陶系—志留系剖面的生物地层学和岩石学的研究,该剖面的沉积间断发生在Paraorthograptus pacificus带至Coronograptus cyphus带之间,共缺失5个笔石带。奥陶系、志留系之间黏土岩矿物分析显示,在奥陶系、志留系之间出现有高岭土,推断在其间可能上升为陆地。具体演变过程为:在晚奥陶世晚期***带之前,该区属于黑色笔石页岩沉积环境;在***带(也可能略早),该区抬升,形成水下高地,其沉积环境达到了水下风化面,出现了生物扰动现象,并伴有一定的水下动力作用;至奥陶纪最晚期—志留纪早期,该区进一步抬升,可能上升为陆地;至志留纪早期***带,该区快速下降,恢复到黑色笔石页岩沉积环境。凯迪晚期的全球海平面下降和志留纪早期"华夏古陆"不断向西及西北扩展的耦合作用是导致该区上升为陆地的主要因素。对整个扬子地区奥陶纪-志留纪之交沉积间断的综合分析需要在多个剖面开展进一步的研究工作。

Efficient catalysts are required for both oxidative and reductive reactions of hydrogen and oxygen in sustainable energy conversion ***,current precious metal-based electrocatalysts do not perform well across the full range of reactions and reported multifunctional catalysts are all complex ***,we show that singlephase porous Co3mo3N prepared via a facile method is an efficient and reliable electrocatalyst for three essential energy conversion reactions;oxygen evolution reaction(OER),oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in alkaline ***3-mo3N presents outstanding OER,ORR,and HER activity with high durability,comparable with the commercial catalysts RuO2 for OER and Pt/C for ORR and *** practical demonstrations,Co3mo3N gives high specific capacity(850 mA h gZn^(-1) at 10 mA cm^(-2))as the cathode in a zinc-air battery,and a low potential(1.63 V at 10 mA cm^(-2))used in a water-splitting *** of Co and mo d-states appear to result in high ORR and HER performance,while the OER properties result from a cobalt oxide-rich activation surface *** findings will inspire further development of bimetallic nitrides as cost-effective and versatile multifunctional catalysts that will enable scalable usage of electrochemical energy devices.

A two-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of nitrogen (0, 30, 60, and 120 kg N ha-1) and phosphorus (0, 30, and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1) application on grain yield and yield components of five New Rice for Africa (NERICA) cultivars, their parents, and a check on a degraded soil in the moist savanna of Nigeria. Nerica 14 recorded the highest grain yield of 1.3 mg ha-1compared to the other NERICA cultivars. It also produced significantly (P m), higher sink capacity as determined by thousand-kernel weight (30.3 g), and a higher potential for partitioning photosynthates (45.15%) into grains than the other cultivars. N × P interaction effect on grain yield was significant (P moderate P (60 kg P2O5 ha-1) and moderate N (60 kg N ha-1) resulting in optimum grain yield (1.7 mg ha-1). Thus, moderate N and P were recommended for the production of NERICA varieties in low-input smallholder upland rice production systems of the moist savanna of Nigeria.

Correlation between the Bearing Capacity of Crude Oil Contaminated Soil of mgbede and the Percentage Contamination

This study was conducted in mgbede, River State, Nigeria, hosting up to, or even more than 100 oil wells. It examined the relationship between the bearing capacity of crude oil contaminated soil and the percentage contamination. Four uncontaminated soil samples were randomly collected at 1.5 m depth within the oil field with hand auger and analyzed for the load bearing properties limited to cohesion, angle of internal friction and bulk density. With these parameters, the bearing capacity was determined for each sample. Crude oil, collected from one of the oil wells with viscosity 0.02611 poises at 40. oC and specific gravity 0.8227 g/cm3, was used as the contaminant. This was mixed with the soil sample at 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% concentrations. The mean values of the bearing capacity were 582.458 KN/m2, 495.35 KN/m2 for square and strip footings respectively at 0% contamination, 240.735 KN/m2 and 204.753 KN/m2 at 5%, 321.683 KN/m2 and 274.593 KN/m2 at 10%, 127.003 KN/m2 and 109.12 KN/m2 at 15%, 105.28 KN/m2 and 90.758 KN/m2 at 20% for square and strip footings, respectively. The results showed a consistent decrease in the load bearing values as the crude oil content increased. The result of the null hypothesis established a strong and significant relationship between the bearing capacity of crude oil contaminated soil and the percentage contamination.

Retinoblastoma (RB) treatment aims at saving the life and preserving useful vision. In most low-income countries, because of delays in diagnosis, advanced disease presentation is quite common. This prospective study aimed at evaluating the treatment results of orbital RB with regards to overall survival rate of the patients treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The study was performed from 01 November 2011 to 31 December 2015 in the paediatric oncology unit of Gabriel Touré Teaching Hospital, Bamako, mali and The Institute of Tropical Ophthalmology of Africa (IOTA), Bamako, mali. All intra-orbital non-metastatic RB cases not previously treated by chemotherapy or radiotherapy were included in this study. Fourteen patients were included into the study. median age was 2 years, and sex ratio 2.5 (m = 10;F = 4). Right eye (n = 12, 85.7%) was more often affected than left eye (n = 2;14.3%). Chemotherapy toxicities were mainly haematological including grade 3 anemia (n = 2;7%) and grade 4 neutropenia (n = 3;11%). Twelve patients (86%) were enucleated after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Two patients (14%) abandoned treatment before enucleation. The IRSS pathology staging was: stage IIIa in 6 patients (50%), and stage II in six patients (50%). Six children (43%) received orbital radiotherapy at total dose of 45 Gy;Six children (43%) achieved complete remission;Overall survival rate was 48% at 4 years (95% CI: 22.5% - 74.4%). In conclusion, the therapeutic strategy based on neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by enucleation, adjuvant chemotherapy and external beam radiotherapy, was beneficial in patients with stage III disease, achieving an event-free survival rate of 48%.
