Termites are eusocial arthropod decomposers,and improve soil fertility,crop yield,and also are used by humans for their ben efits across the ***,some species of termites are becoming a threat to the farming community as they are directly and indirectly causing major losses to the agricultural *** is estimated that termites cost the global economy more than 40 billion USD annually,and considerable research has been done on their *** this review,we present the available information related to sustainable and integrated termite management practices(ITM).Furthermore,we insist that the better management of this menace can be possible through:(i)improving traditional methods to keep termites away from crops;(ii)improving agricultural practices to maintain plants with more vigor and less susceptible to termite attack;and(iii)integration of available techniques to reduce termite infestation in crops and *** application of an effective combination of traditional practices with recently developed approaches is the best option for agricultural ***,keeping in mind the beneficial nature of this pest,more innovative efforts for its management,particularly using rapidly emerging technology(e.g.,RNA interference),are needed.

Polylactic acid(PLA)possesses good mechanical and biodegradability properties which make it a suitable material for polymer composites whereas brittleness and high costs limit its utilization in various *** reinforcement of natural fibres with biopolymers has been formed to be an efficient technique to develop composites having the ability to be fully *** study concerns with the incorporation of various percentages of untreated and alkali-treated Coir Fibres(CF)and pineapple leaf fibres(PALF)in PLA biocomposites and characterizations of flexural,morphological and dynamic mechanical *** properties showed that the treated C1P1 hybrid composites(C1P1A)displayed highest flexural strength(35.81 MPa)and modulus(5.28 gPa)among all hybrid *** Electron Microscopy(SEM)revealed a behaviour of fibre-matrix adhesion in untreated treated *** observation revealed good dispersion of the fillers in *** mechanical analysis revealed that C1P1A showed highest glass transition temperature(Tg)and storage modulus(E')while untreated C3P7 displayed the least Tg and E'.Overall findings showed that alkali-treated hybrid biocomposites(CF/PALF/PLA)especially C1P1A have improved flexural properties,dynamic and morphological properties over untreated *** of these findings will provide attracting consideration of these hybrid biocomposites for various lightweight uses in a broad selection of industrial applications such as biomedical sectors,automobile,construction,electronics equipment,and hardware tools.

自1977年6月独立建国以来,吉布提与中国保持了四十多年来的外交关系。长期以来,两国的关系无关紧要;但在过去二十年中,中国和吉布提的政治关系大大加强。仅仅依靠全球化策略,在1999年当选的盖莱(guelleh)总统的推动下,吉布提这个小国开始在政治上对世界各国开放。2001年,吉布提在北京设立了第一个大使馆,并与中国多部门展开合作,为吉布提基础设施建设带来约140亿美元的投资。一直以来,两国平等相待,真诚友好,对双方的互利合作充满信心。2009年以来,中国参加了曼德海峡(Bab E1-Mandeb)的维和行动和打击海盗行动。两国承诺将双边关系上升为到军事合作层面。本研究旨在分析和找出促进中吉两国军事合作发展的影响因素,并探讨了两国军事合作的发展。为更好地进行研究,本文使用了定性研究方法。为收集必要的数据,作者在各种新旧文档上进行了文献搜索。研究表明,中国与吉布提军加强事合作的原因是曼德海峡的安全和维和行动。本文最后也提出了一些建议,以期改善两国政府之间的军事合作,并避免出现可能影响两国军事合作的误解。其中的一条建议是,吉布提政府应确保,其与他国的军事合作以及其他超级大国在吉布提的存在不会破坏其与中国的军事合作。

The fate of prazosin and levonorgestrel after electrochemical degradation process: Monitoring by-products using LC-TOF/MS

Prazosin（PRZ） and levonorgestrel（LNg） are widely used as an anti-disease drugs due to their biological activity in the human body. The frequent detection of these compounds in water samples requires alternative technologies for the removal of both compounds. After electrochemical degradation of PRZ and LNg, the parent compounds could be completely removed after treatment, but the identification and characterization of by-products are necessary as well. In this study, the effects of NaCl concentration and applied voltage were investigated during the electrochemical degradation process. The results revealed that the increase of NaCl concentration and applied voltage could promote the generation of hypochlorite OCl-and then enhance the degradation of PRZ and LNg. After initial study, 6 V and 0.2 g NaCl were selected for further experiments（96% and 99% removal of PRZ and LNg after 40 min, respectively）. Energy consumption was also evaluated and calculated for PRZ and LNg at 3, 6 and 8 V. Solid phase extraction（SPE） method plays an important role in enhancing the detection limit of by-products. Furthermore, characterization and identification of chlorinated and non-chlorinated by-products were conducted using an accurate liquid chromatography-time of flight/mass spectrometry LC-TOF/MS instrument. The monitoring of products during the electrochemical degradation process was performed at6 V and 0.2 g NaCl in a 50 m L solution. The results indicated that two chlorinated products were formed during the electrochemical process. The toxicity of by-products toward E. coli bacteria was investigated at 37°C and 20 hr incubation time.

Noninvasive assessment of hepatic fibrosis in Egyptian patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection

AIM: To evaluate the accuracy of specific biochemical markers for the assessment of hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. METHODS: One hundred and fifty-four patients with chronic HCV infection were included in this study; 124 patients were non-cirrhotic, and 30 were cirrhotic. The following measurements were obtained in all patients: serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), albumin, total bilirubin, prothrombin time and concentration, complete blood count, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), HCVAb, HCV-RNA by quantitative polymerase chain reaction, abdominal ultrasound and ultrasonic-guided liver biopsy. The following ratios, scores and indices were calculated and compared with the results of the histopathological examination: AST/ALT ratio (AAR), age platelet index (API), AST to platelet ratio index (APRI), cirrhosis discriminating score (CDS), Pohl score, g teborg University Cirrhosis Index (gUCI). RESULTS: AAR, APRI, API and gUCI demonstrated good diagnostic accuracy of liver cirrhosis (80.5%, 79.2%, 76.6% and 80.5%, respectively); P values were: g the studied parameters, AAR and gUCI gave the highest diagnostic accuracy (80.5%) with cutoff values of 1.2 and 1.5, respectively. APRI, API and gUCI were significantly correlated with the stage of fibrosis (P grade of activity (P gnificantly with the stage of fibrosis (P gree of activity (P > 0.05). In addition, we found significant correlations for the AAR, APRI, API, gUCI and Pohl score between the non-cirrhotic (F0, F1, F2, F3) and cirrhotic (F4) groups (P values: gnificant correlation (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The use of AAR, APRI, API, gUCI and Pohl score measurements may decrease the need

Synthesis and characterization of high strength polyimide/silicon nitride nanocomposites with enhanced thermal and hydrophobic properties

Polyimide(PI)composite films were synthesized incorporating amino modified silicon nitride(Si_(3)N_(4))nanoparticles into PI matrix via in situ polymerization *** mechanical and thermal performances as well as the hydrophobic properties of the as prepared composite films were investigated with respect to the dosage of the filler in the PI *** to Thermogravimetric(TgA)analysis,meaningful improvements were achieved in T5(5%weight loss temperature)and T10(10%weight loss temperature)up to 54.1℃ and 52.4℃,respectively when amino functionalized nano Si_(3)N_(4) particles were introduced into the PI *** differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)results revealed that the glass transition temperature(Tg)of the composites was considerably enhanced up to 49.7℃ when amino functionalized Si_(3)N_(4) nanoparticles were incorporated in the PI *** to the neat PI,the PI/Si_(3)N_(4) nanocomposites exhibited very high improvement in the tensile strength as well as Young’s modulus up to 105.4%and 138.3%,*** to the neat PI,the composites demonstrated highly decreased water absorption behavior which showed about 68.1%enhancement as the content of the nanoparticles was increased to 10 wt%.The SEM(Scanning electron microscope)images confirmed that the enhanced thermal,mechanical and water proof properties are essentially attributed to the improved compatibility of the filler with the matrix and hence,enhanced distribution inside the matrix because of the amino groups on the surface of Si_(3)N_(4) nanoparticles obtained from surface functionalization.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had drastic effects on societies around the *** to restrictions or recom-mendations,companies,industries and residents experienced changes in their routines and many people shifted to working from *** led to alterations in electricity consumption between sectors and changes in daily *** how various properties and features of load patterns in the electricity network were affected is important for forecasting the network’s ability to respond to sudden changes and shocks,and helping system operators improve network management and *** this study,we quantify the extent to which the COVID-19 pandemic has led to shifts in the electricity consumption patterns of different sectors in *** results show that working from home during the pandemic has led to an increase in the residential sector’s total consumption and changes in its consumption patterns,whereas there were only slight decreases in the industrial sector and relatively few changes in the public and commercial *** discuss the reasons for these changes,the effects that these changes will have on expected future electricity consumption patterns,as well as the effects on potential demand flexibility in a future where working from home has become the new norm.

Energy conservation is a crucial issue to extend the lifetime of wireless sensor networks(WSNs)where the battery capacity and energy sources are very *** energy-saving techniques can help designers overcome this issue by reducing the number of selected sensors that report environmental measurements by eliminating all replicated and unrelated *** paper suggests a Hybrid Sensor Selection(HSS)technique that combines filter-wrappermethod to acquire a rich-informational subset of sensors in a reasonable *** aims to increase the lifetime of WSNs by using the optimal number of *** the same time,HSS maintains the desired level of accuracy and manages sensor failures with the most suitable number of sensors without compromising the *** evaluation of the HSS technique has adopted four experiments by using four different *** experiments show that HSS can extend the WSNs lifetime and increase the accuracy using a sufficient number of sensors without affecting ***,to ensure HSS credibility and reliability,the proposed HSS technique has been compared to other corresponding methodologies and shows its superiority in energy conservation at premium accuracy measures.

Novel Bio-based Flame Retardant Systems Derived from Tannic Acid

In this study,tannic acid(TA)was investigated as flame retardant agent for *** strategies to modify its thermal degradation pathway have been explored in order to improve its charring *** first one consists in combining TA with organomodified montmorillonite(oMMT),and enables limiting the thermo-oxidative degradation of TA and promoting the formation of an effective char ***-retardant(FR)behavior of PLA-based composition has been found to be positively impacted by this combination since a reduction of the peak of Heat Release Rate(PHRR),more important than the value recorded when oMMT and tannic acid are used separately,has been *** second strategy,in which tannic acid was associated with a biosourced phosphorousbased compounds,*** phytate salt,evidenced another alternative allowing enhancing TA flame retardant effect at 30 wt%loading *** third and last strategy explored aims to chemically modify TA via a chemical grafting of phosphoric acid *** phosphorylated TA was shown to present the most effective flame-retardant(FR)***,an important reduction of PLA molecular weight was observed.
