Yield models for predicting aboveground ectomycorrhizal fungal productivity in Pinus sylvestris and Pinus pinaster stands of northern Spain

Background: Predictive models shed light on aboveground fungal yield dynamics and can assist decision-making in forestry by integrating this valuable non-wood forest product into forest management planning. However, the currently existing models are based on rather local data and, thus, there is a lack of predictive tools to monitor mushroom yields on larger ***: This work presents the first empirical models for predicting the annual yields of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms and related ecosystem services in Pinus sylvestris and Pinus pinaster stands in northern Spain, using a long-term dataset suitable to account for the combined effect of meteorological conditions and stand *** were fitted for the following groups of fungi separately: all ectomycorrhizal mushrooms, edible mushrooms and marketed mushrooms. Our results show the influence of the weather variables(mainly precipitation) on mushroom yields as well as the relevance of the basal area of the forest stand that follows a right-skewed unimodal curve with maximum predicted yields at stand basal areas of 30–40 m2·***: These models are the first empirical models for predicting the annual yields of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms in Pinus sylvestris and Pinus pinaster stands in northern Spain, being of the highest resolution developed to date and enable predictions of mushrooms productivity by taking into account weather conditions and forests’ location, composition and structure.

Distal embolization of atherothrombotic material during primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PcI)is associated with impaired myocardial perfusion, abnormal left ventricular function, and higher mortality. At high local concentration s, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor antagonists have been demonstrated to promote clot disaggregation in vitro. Intracoronary administration of eptifibatide in vi vo may increase local drug concentration by several orders of magnitude and prom ote clot disaggregation with a minimal increase in systemic drug concentrations. We hypothesized that intracoronary administration of eptifibatide before primar y PcI for ST-elevation myocardial infarction would be safe and would be associa ted with high rates of normal myocardial perfusion. clinical and angiographic da ta were pooled from patients who underwent primary PcI and received intracoronar y eptifibatide as part of clinical practice. In-hospital adverse events were co llected retrospectively. No deaths, urgent revascularizations, or reinfarctions were observed among the 59 patients who were treated with intracoronary eptifiba tide. There were no Thrombolysis In myocardial Infarction(TImI)major bleeding ev ents. Two TImI minor bleeding events were noted. Normal TImI myocardial perfusio n grade 3 flow after PcI was noted in 54.4%of patients. No adverse events,incl uding arrhythmias, were noted during intracoronary eptifibatide administration. In conclusion, intracoronary eptifibatide can be administered safely during prim ary PcI and is associated with few adverse events. Relatively high rates of norm al myocardial perfusion were observed after primary PcI with adjunctive intracor onary eptifibatide. Further prospective randomized trials are warranted to evalu ate the efficacy and safety of intracoronary eptifibatide.

Phytoplankton Productivity and Hydrology in an Impacted Estuarine complex in Northeastern Brazil

The aim of the current study was to evaluate the productive capacity of the phytoplankton community and other environmental variables in the estuarine area of Suape;while considering the constant morphological, sedimentological and hydrological changes, the site has been facing due to the implementation and expansion of an industrial and port complex. The study comprised 6 campaigns: 3 in the dry season and 3 in the rainy season. Water samples were collected from the surface layer of the internal and external portions of the estuarine bay during low spring tides. The salinity ranged from 32.20 to 37.10, the water temperature ranged from 26.60°c to 29.40°c, and the oxygen saturation rate ranged from 58.5% to 114.5%. There was significant seasonal variation. The nitrite concentration was higher during the rainy season, whereas the ammonia concentration was higher during the dry season;the higher ammonia concentration helped increase chlorophyll-a levels and rates of primary productivity, which ranged from 0.02 - 2.45 mg·m−3 and from 0.34 to 4.32 mg·c·m−3·h−1, respectively. chlorophyll-a a-containing biomass, and this reflected the low nutrient content in the water and indicated that the area was free from eutrophication processes. The decrease of rainfall during the sampling months and the anthropogenic changes in the environment led to reduced continental contributions, increased marine interference, nutrient dilution and loss of phytoplankton production capacity in Suape Bay, which severely damaged other trophic links in the ecosystem.

microorganisms have the ability to produce several metabolites, which are widely used in biotechnological processes, including the biological catalysts called enzymes. Among these enzymes, lipases are favored because they perform various catalytic reactions such as hydrolysis, esterification, interesterification and transesterification. This work sought to isolate filamentous fungi from samples collected in Diamantina, minas Gerais, Brazil, analyze their macroscopic morphological characteristics, determine the effect of temperature on their growth, and verify which organisms are potential lipase producers. From four collection sites, nine fungi were isolated from the leaves and soil of the jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) tree and three fungi from the Andu bean leaves (Cajanus cajan). The macroscopic morphological characteristics of the microorganisms were analyzed. For thermophilic analysis, the twelve isolated fungi and eight obtained from the laboratory bank were cultivated in a solid Potato-Dextrose-Agar medium from 30°C to 50°C, with intervals of 5°C. The growth rate per hour after 48 hours of development was calculated. For the selection of filamentous lipase-producing fungi, the 20 fungi were cultivated in solid BDA medium at 30mily:Verdana;">°c for 96 hours, and the enzyme index was calculated. It was found that, of the 20 microorganisms, 95% developed at 30°c, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ8 and PJ7. At 35°c, 70% of the fungi developed, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, mB2.2 and P3. Treatment of Vulvovaginal candidiasis with A Strategy Based on Phototherapy (m.A.c.^® Scar Acceleration method)

candidiasis, also known as candidiasis vulvovaginitis, is an infection caused by different types of candida fungi, the most frequent being candida albicans. The present study reports an effective strategy, which opens new avenues for the treatment of this public health problem. The mAc® methodology, conventional laser light-emitting (LLLT)/LED) methods are based on the biphasic response demonstrated many times in LLLT research and as with other forms of drugs, a “drug” (irradiation parameters) and a “dose” (irradiation times) and the “Arndt-Schulz Law” is often cited as a suitable model to describe the dose-dependent effects of LLLT. This method uses photopharmaceuticals, cell markers and the use of correct parameters for each case to induce the acceleration of tissue repair. The present study shows a case of a 32-year-old patient diagnosed with recurrent candidiasis 4 years ago. Eighteen sessions were performed (every other day) using a photoactivated component (methylene blue 1% + clotrimazole 1%) and LED phototherapy (red, blue and violet) with emission times of 60 - 260 seconds for each applicator, according to the dose recommendations of the scar acceleration method (mAc®). At the sixth treatment session there was a noticeable decrease in the itching sensation reported by the patient. In session 11 she reported feeling a great improvement, indicating that she no longer felt itching in any area after 18 sessions. The present case demonstrates new methodologies to treat common problems in the population that have a positive impact on the quality of life. This methodology has a promising future because it is non-invasive and requires a great biological transformation for inflammatory, fungal and viral control.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

The determination of available phosphorus(P)in soil is essential to the evaluation of the current fertility status,and therefore,for recommending the required phosphate fertilizers for the cultivation of *** mostly used extractants around the country are mehlich-1(m-1)and anionic resins(AR)and mixed resins(mR).However,there are still controversies in relation to the method that should be used,due to of particularities of each ***,the main objectives of this work was to assess the applicability of films of binary combination between cellulose acetate(cA)biopolymer and calcinated layered double hydroxide(LDH-c),named cAF-LDH-c,as a new extractor of available P in *** this,two experiments were set *** the first one,sub-samples of an Oxisol layer 0-20 cm were used and submitted to increasing doses of total P(0,250,750 and 2,250 mg/dm3)in the form of monoammonium phosphate(mAP)at different incubation time(5,30,60 and 90 d).In the second experiment,samples of 20 soils from different origins and contents of available P were used with distinct chemical and physical *** analysis of available P by m-1,AR,mR,mehlich-3(m-3)and cAF-LDH-c extractants was done in both *** efficiency of the extractants was evaluated by Pearson’s linear *** correlation between values of P extracted from soil in the first experiment was highly significant among all extraction methods used,including for *** the second experiment,cAF-LDH-c showed significant correlation(pm-1,m-3,AR and ***,the significant correlations of the extractant being tested(cAF-LDH-c)with those usually used indicates the possibility of this new method of routine laboratories for assessing the P availability of for the cultivation of crops.
