Recent studies have shown that software is one of the main reasons for computer systems unavailability. A growing ac- cumulation of software errors with time causes a phenomenon called software aging. This phenomenon can result in system per- formance degradation and eventually system hang/crash. To cope with software aging, software rejuvenation has been proposed. Software rejuvenation is a proactive technique which leads to re- moving the accumulated software errors by stopping the system, cleaning up its internal state, and resuming its normal operation. One of the main challenges of software rejuvenation is accurately predicting the time to crash due to aging factors such as me- mory leaks. In this paper, different machine learning techniques are compared to accurately predict the software time to crash un- der different aging scenarios. Finally, by comparing the accuracy of different techniques, it can be concluded that the multilayer per- ceptron neural network has the highest prediction accuracy among all techniques studied.

Educational innovation is a field that has been greatly enriched by using technology in its processes, resulting in a learning model where information comes from numerous sources and collaboration takes place among multiple students. One attractive challenge within educational innovation is the design of collaborative learning activities from the social computing point of view, where collaboration is not limited to student-to-student relationships, but includes student-to-machine interactions. At the same time, there is a great lack of tools that give support to the whole learning process and are not restricted to specific aspects of the educational task. In this paper, we present and evaluate context-aware framework for collaborative learning applications(CAFCLA) as a solution to these problems. CAFCLA is a flexible framework that covers the entire process of developing collaborative learning activities, taking advantage of contextual information and social interactions. Its application in the experimental case study of a collaborative WebQuest within a museum has shown that, among other benefits, the use of social computing improves the learning process, fosters collaboration, enhances relationships, and increases engagement.

Background:Autoimmune hepatitis may flare up after treatment withdrawal,especially in those who had not achieved histological remission but had normal liver *** European Association for the Study of the Liver(EASL)and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease(AASLD)Guidelines recommend performing liver biopsy before treatment *** aim of the study is to define the outcome of treatment withdrawal in adults with wellcontrolled disease for 2 years with and without liver-biopsy ***:A retrospective observational study was conducted on biopsy-proven autoimmune hepatitis patients who were treated for 2 years and with persistently normal aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)or nearly so for 6 months prior to treatment *** were:juvenile onset autoimmune hepatitis and prior treatment or use of agents other than corticosteroids and *** primary endpoint was to define freedomfrom flare-ups for 1 year after treatment ***:Thirty-four consecutive subjectsmeeting study criteria were *** withdrawal was accomplished in 24 subjects without liver-biopsy guidance and 10 had pre-treatment withdrawal liver ***,immunosuppressive usage,pre-treatment cirrhosis and pre-treatment liver enzymes were similar between the two groups,and 25%had an enzyme flare-up within 12months after treatment withdrawal,which was similar in the two groups(20.8 vs 30.0%,P=0.57).Conclusions:Adults with autoimmune hepatitis and excellent response to therapy for 2 years are candidates for treatment withdrawal without the need for liver biopsy.

The wastes used to amend soils sometimes have high concentrations of metals such as nickel(Ni), lead(Pb) and zinc(Zn). To determine the capacity of soils to retain these metals, the sorption capacities of different mine soils with and without reclamation treatments(tree vegetation and waste amendment) for Ni, Pb and Zn in individual and competitive situations were evaluated using the batch sorption technique. The untreated settling pond soil had low capacity for Ni, Pb and Zn retention. The site amended with wastes(sewage sludges and paper mill residues) increased the sorption capacity most, probably because of the higher concentrations of soil components with high retention capacity such as carbon and clay fraction. No significant competition was observed between metals in the competitive sorption experiment, indicating that the maximum of sorption was not achieved by adding 0.5 mmol L^(-1) of metal. We can conclude that, despite the possible additions of Ni, Pb and Zn from wastes to degraded soils, sewage sludges and paper mill residues have a high sorption capacity that would prevent the metals from being in a mobile form.

AIM： TO study the effects of elenoside, an arylnaphthalene lignan from Justicia hyssopifolia, on gastrointestinal motility in vivo and in vitro in rats. METHODS： Routine in vivo experimental assessments were catharsis index, water percentage of boluses, intestinal transit, and codeine antagonism. The groups included were vehicle control （propylene glycol-ethanolplant oil-tween 80）, elenoside （i.p. 25 and 50 mg/kg）, cisapride （i.p. 10 mg/kg）, and codeine phosphate （intragastric route, 50 mg/kg）. In v/tro approaches used isolated rat intestinal tissues （duodenum, jejunum, and ileum）. The effects of elenoside at concentrations of 3.2 ×10^4, 6.4 ×10^4 and 1.2 ×10^3 mol/L, and cisapride at 10^6 mol/L were investigated. RESULTS： Elenoside in vivo produced an increase in the catharsis index and water percentage of boluses and in the percentage of distance traveled by a suspension of activated charcoal. Codeine phosphate antagonized the effect of 25 mg/kg of elenoside. In vitro, elenoside in duodenum, jejunum and ileum produced an initial decrease in the contraction force followed by an increase. Elenoslde resulted in decreased intestinal frequency in duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The in vitro and in vivo effects of elenoside were similar to those produced by cisapride. CONCLUSION： Elenoside is a lignan with an action similar to that of purgative and prokinetics drugs. Elenoside, could be an alternative to cisapride in treatment of gastrointestinal diseases as well as a preventive therapy for the undesirable gastrointestinal effects produced by opioids used for mild to moderate pain.

MODELING HEADCUT DEVELOPMENT AND MIGRATION IN UPLAND CONCENTRATED FLOWS

On hillslopes and agricultural fields, discrete areas of intense, localized soil erosion commonly take place in the form of migrating headcuts. These erosional features significantly increase soil loss and landscape degradation, yet the unsteady, transient, and migratory habits of headcuts complicate their phenomenological and erosional characterization. Here a unique experimental facility was constructed to examine actively migrating headcuts typical of upland concentrated flows. Essential components of the facility include a deep soil cavity with external drainage, rainfall simulator, capacity for overland flow, and a video recording technique for data collection. Results from these experiments show that: (1) after a short period of adjustment, headcut migration attained a steady-state condition, where the rate of migration, scour hole geometry, and sediment discharge remain constant with time; (2) boundary conditions of higher rates of overland flow, steeper bed slopes, and larger initial headcut heights produced systematically larger scour holes with higher rates of soil erosion; and (3) during migration, the turbulent flow structure within the scour hole remained unchanged, consisting of an overfall nappe at the brink transitioning into a reattached wall jet with two recirculation eddies within the plunge pool. The systematic behavior of headcut development and migration enabled the application of modified jet impingement theory to predict with good success the characteristics of the impinging jet, the depth of maximum scour, the rate of headcut migration, and the rate of sediment erosion. These laboratory data and the analytical formulation can be used in conjunction with soil erosion prediction technology to improve the management of agricultural areas impacted by headcut development and ephemeral gully erosion.

CeO_(2)decorated CoOx rod-like hybrid,supported onto holey reduced graphene(CoOx/CeO_(2)/RGO)composite,was fabricated via a surfactant-assisted *** corresponding electrocatalytic performance towards oxygen reduction/evolution reactions(ORR and OER)was systematically investigated in alkaline ***,morphological and compositional studies revealed changes in electronic and surface properties when CeO_(2)was introduced as an oxygen buffer *** oxygen vacancies effectively enhanced the electrocatalytic activity,while the synergistic effect of co-catalyst CeO_(2),CoOx activecenters,and defective graphene with many voids facilitate the charge/mass transfer,making CoOx/CeO_(2)/RGO an efficient and stable bifunctional electrocatalyst for OER/ORR with△E=0.76 V(△E=E10mAcm.-2OER-E_(1/2).ORR).This parameter is 70 mV and 270 mV lower than CoOx/RGO and the benchmark Pt/C,*** addition,the OER/ORR bifunctionality of CoOx/CeO_(2)/RGO composite outperforms that of Pt/C catalyst in a H2-O_(2)micro fuel cell platform.
