Nowadays,the anticipation of parking-space demand is an instrumental service in order to reduce traffic congestion levels in urban *** purpose of our work is to study,design and develop a parking-availability predictor that extracts the knowledge from human mobility data,based on the anonymized human displacements of an urban area,and also from weather *** of the existing solutions for this prediction take as contextual data the current road-traffic state defined at very high temporal or spatial ***,access to this type of fine-grained location data is usually quite limited due to several economic or privacy-related *** overcome this limitation,our proposal uses urban areas that are defined at very low spatial and temporal *** conducted several experiments using three Artificial Neural Networks:Multilayer Perceptron,Gated Recurrent Units and bidirectional Long Short Term Memory networks and we tested their suitability using different combinations of *** metrics are provided for the sake of comparison within our study and between other *** solution has been evaluated in a real-world testbed in the city of Murcia(Spain)integrating an open human-mobility dataset showing high accuracy.A MAPE between 4%and 10%was reported in horizons of 1 to 3 h.

Despite organ transplantation being the most successful treatment for end-stage organ dysfunction,the number of annual solid organ transplantations is much lower than that required to satisfy the demand of patients on waiting *** explanation for this phenomenon is the relative scarcity of non-living organ donors due to several factors,such as:(1)Late arrival of patients with a neurocritical condition to an emergency service;(2)lack of detection of those patients as possible organ donors by health professionals dedicated to procurement or by clinicians at emergency and intensive care units,for instance;(3)late transfer of the patient to an intensive care unit to try to recover their health and to provide hemodynamic,ventilatory,and metabolic support;(4)lack of confirmation of the physiological status of the possible donor;(5)late or incorrect positive diagnosis of the subject’s death,either due to brain or cardiac death;(6)difficulty in obtaining legal authorization,either by direct relatives or by the authority,for the extraction of organs;and(7)deficient retrieval surgery of the organs actually *** recent reports of relatively successful xenotransplants from genetically modified pigs open the possibility to fix this mismatch between supply and demand,but some technical(organ rejection and opportunistic infections),and economic issues,still remain before accepting a progressive replacement of the organ sources for *** approximate economic cost analysis suggests that the hypothetical acquisition cost of any genetically modified pig derived organ is high and would not even satisfy the solid organ demand of the wealthiest countries.

Multi-objective optimization design of bridge piers with hybrid heuristic algorithms

This paper describes one approach to the design of reinforced concrete (RC) bridge piers, using a three-hybrid multi- objective simulated annealing (SA) algorithm with a neighborhood move based on the mutation operator from the genetic algorithms (GAs), namely MOSAMO1, MOSAMO2 and MOSAMO3. The procedure is applied to three objective functions: the economic cost, the reinforcing steel congestion and the embedded CO 2 emissions. Additional results for a random walk and a descent local search multi-objective algorithm are presented. The evaluation of solutions follows the Spanish Code for structural concrete. The methodology was applied to a typical bridge pier of 23.97 m in height. This example involved 110 design variables. Results indicate that algorithm MOSAMO2 outperforms other algorithms regarding the definition of Pareto fronts. Further, the proposed procedure will help structural engineers to enhance their bridge pier designs.

Lupus enteritis as the only active manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus: A case report

BACKGROUND Lupus enteritis is a rare manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Diagnosis of this condition is difficult, especially in the absence of other symptoms related to active SLE. We present the case of a 25-year-old female with lupus enteritis as the sole initial manifestation of active SLE. CASE SUMMARY A 25-year-old African American female presented to the Emergency Department complaining of diffuse abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for 2 days. Her past medical history was significant for seasonal allergies and family history was pertinent for discoid lupus in her father and SLE in a cousin. The patient’s vital signs on presentation were normal. Her physical exam was remarkable for significant lower abdominal tenderness without guarding or rigidity. A computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis revealed marked circumferential wall thickening and edema of the proximal and mid small bowel predominantly involving the submucosa. Our main differential diagnoses were intestinal angioedema and mesenteric vein thrombosis. However, mesenteric vessels were patent, and laboratory testing for hereditary angioedema showed a normal C1 Esterase Inhibitor level and low C3 and C4 levels. Infectious work-up was negative. Autoimmune tests showed elevated anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA)(13.6), anti-Smith antibody, and anti-ribonucleoprotein (anti-RNP) antibody. The patient was diagnosed with SLE enteritis. She was maintained on bowel rest, given intravenous hydration, and started on methylprednisolone 60 mg IV daily. She had significant improvement in her abdominal pain, diarrhea, and emesis after 2 days of treatment. Steroids were tapered and maintained on Hydroxychloroquine with no relapses one year after *** This case of lupus enteritis represents a rare manifestation of SLE. Diagnosis requires clinical suspicion, characteristic imaging and laboratory tests. Endoscopic appearance and biopsies usually yield non-specific findings.
