Patient satisfaction with hospital services is one of the most important indicators of effectiveness and quality of hospital services. Patient satisfaction surveys can provide valuable data for evaluating the current status, awareness of quality and quantity of process improvement programs and quality improvement to health managers and policy makers. The present study discusses previous studies conducted in this area, and presents recommendations to improve patient satisfaction. The method of this study is review. Selected papers were identified by searching keyword in Persian and English in different databases and after applying the inclusion criteria, 19 studies were extracted and analyzed. 23,793 patients in 12 studies entered into this research were investigated. Generally, satisfaction of the patients in this study was estimated at an average level. Continuous evaluation of patient satisfaction and identification of the factors affecting it requires establishment of comprehensive and accurate data system in this area;that by application of the results of previous studies steps can be taken to improve patient satisfaction. Patients’ satisfaction in Iran, compared with other countries, is desirable. In addition, the overall satisfaction of patients in recent years has increased compared to previous years and the reason can be measures like different ways of improving the quality, customer orientation, and applying the results of research conducted in this area.

Background: The hospital is a scientific organization that despite much progress, today, is also dependent on manpower. One of the main requirements for the proper functioning of manpower is that through learning, they be updated in terms of knowledge. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the level of Organizational Learning Capability in hospitals in Bandar Abbas City—Iran. Methods: In 2014, this descriptive-analytic study was conducted in hospitals in Bandar Abbas City. The data was collected through the Gomez questionnaire for organizational learning from 290 employees of hospitals. Data analysis was done using software SPSS V.20 and by the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: Organizational Learning Capability in governmental, private and social security hospitals were 0.31 ± 53.06, 9.38 ± 47.38 and 0.27 ± 50.74, respectively. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed that the relationship between the variables of employment status (p = 0.034), occupational categories (p = 0.043), and type of ownership (p = 0.02), was significant with the organizational learning capability but such a significant relationship was not observed in terms of age, educational level and employment status. The results of the Mann- Whitney U-test indicated a significant association between marital status (p = 0.029) and type of hospital (p = 0.049) with the organizational learning capability. Conclusion: Need to up-to-dating of staff’s knowledge has made undeniable the role of organizational learning. According to the results, managers have to provide conditions for improving the status quo through promoting or-ganizational learning and extend the ability of the organization for growth and progress.

Objective: This study aimed to assess training and internship programs (courses) of basic and clinical sciences in hospitals based on surveying the students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Material and Methods: The present study was a cross-sectional one with survey descriptive designs. The data collection tool was a questionnaire with 14 five-point likert style items. The Research and Development Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences surveyed all 185 students of training and internship programs, using a questionnaire with the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 81%, for the purpose of adjusting the education to the society’s needs and improving its quality. Result: The mean scores of the assessment of training and internship programs were 3.32%, 2.98%, 3.38% and 3.29%, respectively for theoretical classroom training related to practical training, mental, communicational and practical skills courses. The students’ satisfaction rate regarding the quality of educational courses of training and internship programs was 50.2%. Conclusion: Educational authorities have made necessary attempts to implement these programs and use potential resources for realizing the objectives and achieving the educational quality;however, they should make further attempts in this regard.

Seasonal Variation of Cochlodinium polykrikoides in the North of Oman Sea （Iranian Waters）

This study was carried out to investigate the Cochlodinium polykrikoides fluctuations in the north of Oman Sea during pre- and post-monsoon season in 2008. The study area was divided into 10 transects （TI-T10） from the Strait of Hormuz （T1） to Gwadar （TI0） which cover the whole of the Iranian waters in the Oman Sea. The results showed that at first, Cochlodinium polykrikoides appeared in the northeast part （T10） in the pre-monsoon season, then it spread to other parts of the study area. Cochlodinium polykrikoides was observed in greater abundance in the Strait of Hormuz in the post-monsoon season. The results demonstrated that T10 （transect 10） had the highest abundance in the pre-monsoon season. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed a significant difference among transects （P 〈 0.05）. The present study showed that the abundance of Cochlodinium polykrikoides increased from coastal to offshore waters in the pre-monsoon season; however, in the post-monsoon season, there was a higher abundance in coastal waters compared to the offshore zone. It could be seen that the abundance of Cochlodinium polykrikoides started in offshore waters, then increased in coastal waters. During the pre-monsoon season, water discoloration was not observed, however, the water changed to brown from T 1 to T4 （northwest） and blooms of Cochlodinium polykrikoides was recorded in the post-monsoon season.

Developing a Valid and Reliable Coping Self-Efficacy Scale (CSES) among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: Iranian Version

Introduction: This study aimed to develop valid and reliable scale with the intention of measure Coping Self-efficacy (CSES) of Iranian type 2 diabetic patients. Patients and Methods: Validity and reliability of Iranian version of Coping Self-efficacy Scale (CSES) were measured by a cross-sectional study. Content validity, reliability and cultural equivalency were appraised through qualitative and quantitative study on 260 participants who have type 2 diabetes. Results: Reliability and validity of the scale and its four subscales, such as “stop unpleasant emotions and thoughts” (a = 0.92) “used problem-focused coping” (a = 0.71), Self-efficacy on diabetes problem solving (a = 0.74) and “get support from friends and family” (a = 0.67) were approved explicitly by a psychometric analysis;these show that the scale was slightly valid and reliable on the study setting. An intraclass correlation coefficient was satisfactory (p < 0.001). Criterion validity between total scale and metabolic control Index (HbA1c) of type 2 diabetic patients was significant (p < 0.001) and showed indirect correlation with the domains of the scale. Conclusion: Study findings supported the reliability and validity of the Iranian version of new Coping Self-efficacy-24 for measuring Coping Selfefficacy among Iranian type 2 diabetic patients. Based on our finding, we would like to recommend appropriate interventions in the future.

We report the fabrication of disposable and flexible Screen-Printed Electrodes (SPEs). This new type of screen-printed electrochemical platform consists of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) and graphite composite. For this purpose, silver nanoparticles were first synthesized by a chemical reduction method. The morphology and structure of the AgNPs were analyzed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and UV-Visible spectroscopy. Graphite was chosen as the working electrode material for the fabrication of a thick-film. The fabrication of a screen-printed hydrogen peroxide biosensor consisting of three electrodes on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate was performed with a spraying approach (working, counter and reference: enzyme electrode, graphite, pseudo reference: Ag/AgCl). This biosensor was fabricated by immobilizing the peroxidase enzyme (HRP) in a Titania sol-gel membrane which was obtained through a vapor deposition method. The biosensor had electrocatalytic activity in the reduction of H2O2 with linear dependence on H2O2 concentration in the range of 10-5 to 10-3 M;the detection limit was 4.5 × 10-6 M.

Systemic sclerosis is a rare chronic autoimmune disease with extensive microvascular injury, damage of endothelialcells, activation of immune responses, and progression of tissue fibrosis in the skin and various internal *** to epidemiological data, women’s populations are more susceptible to systemic sclerosis than men. Untilnow, various therapeutic options are employed to manage the symptoms of the disease. Since stem cell-basedtreatments have developed as a novel approach to rescue from several autoimmune diseases, it seems that stemcells, especially mesenchymal stem cells as a powerful regenerative tool can also be advantageous for systemicsclerosis treatment via their remarkable properties including immunomodulatory and anti-fibrotic ***, we discuss the contemporary status and future perspectives of mesenchymal stem cell transplantationfor systemic sclerosis.

Association between rs1800795 (-174 G/C) Polymorphism in the Promoter of <i>IL</i>6 Gene and Risk of Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) in Isfahan Population

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of central nervous system (CNS) that mostly affects young adults. The etiology of MS includes both genetic and environmental factors. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) linked with autoimmune disorders predisposition, identified by Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) among genes which immunologically related are considerably over signified. The goal of the current study is investigation of the association between rs1800795 (-174 G/C) polymorphism in the promoter of IL6 gene variant with the risk of RRMS in a subset of Iranian population. In this case-control study, 110 healthy subjects and 110 patients with RRMS were included. DNA was extracted from blood samples and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify the fragment of interest contain rs1800795 SNP, restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method was performed for genotyping of the DNA samples with a specific restriction enzyme (NlaIII). SPSS for Windows software (version 18.0;SPSS, Chicago, IL) was used for statistical analysis. No significant differences were found between RRMS patients and healthy controls with respect to the distribution of the cytokine gene polymorphism investigated. Odds ratio adjusted for age, sex, and blood groups (except A blood group) has displayed similar outcomes. These results indicate that the rs1800795 SNP is not a susceptibility gene variant for development of RRMS in the Isfahan population. Further studies using new data on complex transcriptional interactions between IL-6 polymorphic sites are necessary to determine IL-6 haplotype influence on susceptibility to RRMS.
