The effect of injection pressure, piston velocity, and the forming temperature of semisolid slurry on the filling behavior of the semi-solid A356 aluminum alloy was investigated by simulation methods. The simulation results show that these processing parameters have an important effect on the filling behavior of the semi-solid A356 aluminum alloy. The slurry flows steadily in the cavity when the injection pressure, the piston velocity, and the forming temperature are low, but it is prone to turbulent flow when the injection pressure, the piston velocity, and the forming temperature are much higher. Therefore it is necessary to determine the appropriate processing parameters to get a steady flow of the slurry in the cavity.

Cabled seafloor observatories play an important role in ocean exploration for its long-term, real-time, and in-situ observation characteristics. In establishing a permanent, reliable, and robust seafloor observatory, a highly reliable cable switching and fault isolation method is essential. After reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of existing switching methods, we propose a novel active switching method for network configuration. Without additional communication path requirements, the switching method provides a way to communicate with a shore station through an existing power transmission path. A coded voltage signal with a distinct sequence is employed as the communication medium to transmit commands. The analysis of the maximum bit frequency of the voltage signals guarantees the accuracy of command recognition. A prototype based on the switching method is built and tested in a laboratory environment, which validated the functionality and reliability of the method.

A power monitoring and protection system based on an embedded processor was designed for the junction boxes(JBs) of an experimental seafloor observatory network in China. The system exhibits high reliability, fast response, and high real-time performance. A two-step power management method which uses metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors(MOSFETs) and a mechanical contactor in series was adopted to generate a reliable power switch, to limit surge currents and to facilitate automatic protection. Grounding fault diagnosis and environmental monitoring were conducted by designing a grounding fault detection circuit and by using selected sensors, respectively. The data collected from the JBs must be time-stamped for analysis and for correlation with other events and data. A highly precise system time, which is necessary for synchronizing the times within and across nodes, was generated through the IEEE 1588(precision clock synchronization protocol for networked measurement and control systems) time synchronization method. In this method, time packets were exchanged between the grandmaster clock at the shore station and the slave clock module of the system. All the sections were verified individually in the laboratory prior to a sea trial. Finally, a subsystem for power monitoring and protection was integrated into the complete node system, installed in a frame, and deployed in the South China Sea. Results of the laboratory and sea trial experiments demonstrated that the developed system was effective, stable, reliable, and suitable for continuous deep-sea operation.

Recently, neural implicit function-basedrepresentation has attracted more and more attention,and has been widely used to represent surfacesusing differentiable neural networks. However, surfacereconstruction from point clouds or multi-view imagesusing existing neural geometry representations stillsuffer from slow computation and poor accuracy. Toalleviate these issues, we propose a multi-scale hashencoding-based neural geometry representation whicheffectively and efficiently represents the surface asa signed distance field. Our novel neural networkstructure carefully combines low-frequency Fourierposition encoding with multi-scale hash encoding. Theinitialization of the geometry network and geometryfeatures of the rendering module are accordinglyredesigned. Our experiments demonstrate that theproposed representation is at least 10 times faster forreconstructing point clouds with millions of *** also significantly improves speed and accuracyof multi-view reconstruction. Sugarcane(Saccharum officinarum)is one of the oldest crops cultivated by *** fungal taxa have been reported from this host,although most were not identified beyond genus *** this study,we explored 31 sampling sites in Guangxi and Guangdong Provinces(China),and collected 370 diseased samples from leaves and roots of sugarcane,from which 762 strains were *** preliminary analysis based on internal transcribed spacer(ITS)sequences suggested that these isolates belonged to 143 species in 51 genera,but we could not assign 129 ***,Chaetomium,Curvularia,Phoma and Nigrospora represented the top five most common genera identified,while 27 rare genera comprised only one identified *** this study,we chose above mentioned common genera for in-depth morphological observations and multi-locus analyses,in order to identify these strains to species *** this paper,we described one new genus,32 new species,and reported 19 new records for China and the asexual morph of Chaetomium ***,this is the most comprehensive study with molecular identification and illustration of fungi associated with sugarcane,which greatly improves our understanding of culturable mycota associated with this host.

An integrated cognitive computing approach for systematic conceptual design

Conceptual design plays an important role in product life cycle, which requires engineers to use sound design theory, cross-disciplinary knowledge, and complex technical support to acquire design concepts. However, the lack of sufficient computational tools makes it difficult for designers to fully explore in the wide design solution spaces. Therefore, this paper proposes an integrated cognitive computing approach to formalize the cognitive activities of conceptual design. A cognitive computing model composed of concept associative memory, concept generation, and decision-making process is established based on the integration of cognitive psychology and engineering design. First of all, the Hopfield neural network is used to acquire similar concept solutions for specific subfunctions from a knowledge base. Then, morphological matrix and genetic algorithm are introduced to produce a set of feasible candidate solutions in the concept generation process. Furthermore, a technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution is applied to evaluate the generated concept solutions and obtain the optimal solution automatically. Finally, a case study is given to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.
