The brazing process of cubic boron nitride （CBN） grains and AISI 1045 steel with AgCuTi-TiC mixed powder as a filler material was carried *** joining strength and the interfacial microstructure were *** experimental results indicate that the spreading of the molten filler material on AISI 1045 steel is decreased with the increase of TiC content.A good interface is formed between the TiC particulates and AgCuTi alloy through the wetting *** the case of AgCuTi＋16wt% TiC,the strength of the brazed steel-to-steel joints reached the highest value of 95MPa dependent upon the reinforcement effect of TiC particles within the filler *** resultants of TiB2,TiB,and TiN are produced at the interface of the CBN grains and the AgCuTi-TiC filler layer by virtue of the interdiffusion of B,N,and Ti atoms.

Compact plant type rice has higher lodging and N resistance under machine transplanting

To identify the major factors that contribute to the difference in lodging among different rice varieties under machine transplanting and their responses to nitrogen(N),field experiments were conducted at Danyang County(a representative eco-site of the Lower Yangtze River)in Jiangsu Province,China in 2017 and 2018,22 hybrid indica varieties(HIs),22 inbred japonica varieties(IJs)and two indica japonica hybrid varieties(IJHs)were transplanted by machine with three N rates(N0,N150 and N300,0,150 and 300 kg ha–1,respectively).Lodging-related physical parameters,morphological characteristics and apparent transport rates of dry matter were *** difference in yield was observed among different types of rice,and followed by IJsding stress(BS)induced by the difference in the apparent export rate of dry matter,varieties with lower leaf angle of upper three leaves possess strong lodging resistance capacity;however,the gap among the IJs was due to the difference in the cross section modulus(Z).The LI in the IJs or IJHs increased slightly with the increased N application,and there was no lodging incidence under the high N level,which was due to the low leaf angle and barely changed under high N;there was a significant interaction between varieties(HIs)and N rates in lodging rate and LI,varieties with lower leaf angle of upper three leaves were resistant to high *** results suggest that compact plant type rice has higher lodging and N resistance at machine-transplanting method.

Thermodynamic Calculation on the Formation of Titanium Hydride

A modified Miedema model, using interrelationship among the basic properties of elements Ti and H, is employed to calculate the standard enthalpy of formation of titanium hydride TiHx （1≤x≤2）. Based on Debye theories of solid thermal capacity, the vibrational entropy, as well as electronic entropy, is acquired by quantum mechanics and statistic thermodynamics methods, and a new approach is presented to calculate the standard entropy of formation of TiH2. The values of standard enthalpy of formation of TiHx decrease linearly with increase of x. The calculated results of standard enthalpy, entropy, and free energy of formation of TiH2 at 298.16 K are -142.39 kJ/mol, -143.0 J/（mol·K） and -99.75 kJ/mol, respectively, which is consistent with the previously-reported data obtained by either experimental or theoretical calculation methods. The results show that the thermodynamic model for titanium hydride is reasonable.

Effects of soilless substrates on seedling quality and the growth of transplanted super japonica rice

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of soilless substrates of hydroponically grown long-mat seedlings （HLMS） on seedling quality and field growth characteristics of transplanted super japonica rice. A widely grown conventional super japonica rice cultivar （Wuyunjing 23） was selected as the test material. The effect of HLMS on seedling quality, mechanical transplantation quality, field growth characteristics, yield, and benefit-cost ratio were compared with seedlings grown in organic substrates and traditional nutritive soil, whJch was selected as the control. Root number, root twJstJng power and root activity of seedlings cultivated by HLMS were decreased compared to that of the organic substrates andcontrol. However, seedling root length as well as aboveground growth were increased compared to the organic substrates and control seed- lings. In the HLMS, the content of gibberellin acid （GA3） decreased while abscisic acid （ABA） content increased compared to that of the organic substrates and control seedlings. During the early stages after transplanting, the re-greening of HLMS was delayed compared to that of the organic substrates and control seedlings. Nevertheless, there were no significant differences in tiller dynamics and crop yield among the HLMS, organic substrates and control treatments. The effects of HLMS on seedling production were similar to those of the organic substrates and traditional nutritive soil in the present study, suggesting that HLMS have the potential to replace traditional nutritive soil in seedling production without decreasing crop yield. Finally, it is important to reduce organic substrates and topsoil dependence during rice seedling production and worthwhile to consider HLMS popularization and its application on a larger scale.

Laser Light Scattering Study on Aggregation of Cellulose Diacetate in Acetone

We have investigated the properties of cellulose diacetate in solution by using laser light scattering. The cellulose diacetate molecules can form micelles and micellar clusters in acetone besides the individual chains. As the concentration increases, the average hydrodynamic radius （Rh） linearly increases, whereas the ratio of gyration radius to hydrodynamic radins 〈Rg〉/〈Rh〉 linearly decreases. It indicates that the micelles associate and form micellar clusters due to the intermolecular interactions.

One-year follow-up evaluation of combined phacovitrectomy for idiopathic epiretinal membrane

AIM:To evaluate the therapeutic effect of combined phacovitrectomy with membrane peeling and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in patients with severe idiopathic epiretinal membrane(iERM)and concurrent ***:A total of 34 eyes from 34 patients who underwent phacovitrectomy and epiretinal membrane(ERM)peeling at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University between 2015 and *** best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and central foveal thickness(CFT)were measured preoperatively and at 1,3,6 mo and 1 y *** changes and bivariate correlations of these parameters were ***:Mean logMAR BCVA improved and CFT decreased significantly(P<0.001)until 6 mo after *** analysis revealed a positive correlation between preoperative and postoperative logMAR BCVA(r=0.716,P<0.001 at 1 mo,r=0.417,P=0.014 at 3 mo,r=0.359,P=0.037 at 6 mo,and r=0.369,P=0.032 at 12 mo post-op respectively),but preoperative CFT was neither associated with postoperative CFT nor with postoperative logMAR *** was a positive correlation between CFT and logMAR BCVA at 1 mo(r=0.346,P=0.045),6 mo(r=0.347,P=0.045),and 12 mo(r=0.342,P=0.048)*** intraand postoperative complications were relatively mild,and the incidences were generally ***:For severe iERM patients with significant visual symptoms,combined phacovitrectomy with membrane peeling and IOL implantation is safe and effective in improving BCVA and decreasing *** surgery in selected patients may help preserving better visual function.

Effects of moss-dominated biocrusts on soil detachment by overland flow in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area of China

Biological soil crusts(biocrusts)are important landscape components that exist in various climates and *** roles of biocrusts in numerous soil processes have been predominantly recognized in many dryland regions ***,little is known about their effects on soil detachment process by overland flow,especially in humid *** study quantified the effects of moss-dominated biocrusts on soil detachment capacity(Dc)and soil erosion resistance to flowing water in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area which holds a subtropical humid *** factors driving soil detachment variation and their influencing mechanism were analyzed and *** designed five levels of coverage treatments(1%–20%,20%–40%,40%–60%,60%–80%,and 80%–100%)and a nearby bare land as control in a mossdominated *** soil samples were taken and subjected to water flow scouring in a hydraulic flume under six shear stresses ranging from 4.89 to 17.99 *** results indicated that mean Dc of mosscovered soil varied from 0.008 to 0.081 kg m^-2 s^-1,which was 1.9 to 21.0 times lower than that of bare soil(0.160 kg m^-2 s^-1).Rill erodibility(Kr)of mosscovered soil ranged from 0.0095 to 0.0009 s m^-1,which was 2 to 20 times lower than that of bare soil(0.0187 s m^-1).Both relative soil detachment rate and Kr showed an exponential decay with increasing moss coverage,whereas the critical shear stress(τc)for different moss coverage levels did not differ *** coverage,soil cohesion,and sand content were key factors affecting Dc,while moss coverage and soil bulk density were key factors affecting Kr.A power function of flow shear stress,soil cohesion,and moss coverage fitted well to estimate Dc(NSE=0.947).Our findings implied that biocrusts prevented soil detachment directly by their physical cover and indirectly by soil properties *** could be rehabilitated as a promising soil conservation measure during ecological recovery to enhance so

Effects of Double Harvesting on Heavy Metal Uptake by Six Forage Species and the Potential for Phytoextraction in Field

The pollution of soils by heavy metals has dramatically increased in recent decades. Phytoextraction is a technology that extracts elements from polluted soils using hyperaccumulator plants. The selection of appropriate plant materials is an important factor for successful phytoextraction in field. A field study was conducted to compare the efficiency of six high-biomass forage species in their phytoextraction of heavy metals(Cd, Pb, and Zn) from contaminated soil under two harvesting strategies(double harvesting or single harvesting). Among the tested plants, amaranth accumulated the greatest amounts of Cd and Zn, whereas Rumex K^(-1) had the highest amount of Pb in the shoot under both double and single harvesting. Furthermore, double harvesting significantly increased the shoot biomass of amaranth, sweet sorghum and sudangrass and resulted in higher heavy metal contents in the shoot. Under double harvesting, the total amounts of extracted Cd, Pb and Zn(i.e., in the first plus second crops) for amaranth were 945, 2 650 and 12 400 g ha^(-1), respectively, the highest recorded among the six plant species. The present results indicate that amaranth has great potential for the phytoextraction of Cd from contaminated soils. In addition, the double harvesting method is likely to increase phytoextraction efficiency in practice.
