Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact and potential prognostic roles of the pre- and post-treatment Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and the change thereof in patients with advanced head and neck cancer undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods: We collected GPS and clinicopathological data of 139 stage III, IVA, and IVB head and neck cancer patients who underwent CCRT between 2008 and 2011. Their GPSs pre- and post-CCRT and the change thereof were analyzed for correlations with recurrence and survival. Results: The GPS changed in 72 (51.8%) patients, with worse scores observed post-CCRT in 65 (90.3%) of the GPS changed patients. Patients in the improved GPS group showed a tendency toward better survival. From the multivariate analysis, the post-CCRT GPS level was an independent prognostic factor in addition to tumor stage. Conclusions: After CCRT, a high GPS was revealed to be an important predictor of survival for advanced head and neck cancer.

Design of a terahertz slotted waveguide array antenna based on photonic crystal

In this paper， a terahertz slotted waveguide array antenna is designed based on photonic crystal， which can realize efficient radiation of terahertz waves. The electromagnetic wave is fed from the rectangular waveguide at the bottom of the antenna， coupled to photonic crystal waveguide through photonic crystal cavity， and radiated outward through slots at the top layer of antenna. The simulation results show that the antenna achieves a peak gain of 13.45dBi at 360 GHz， a half-power beamwidth of 10.9o， and a side lobe level of -13.9dB. The antenna based on photonic crystal has the advantages of low profile， low loss， and high radiation efficiency， which can be applied to terahertz wireless communication systems.

Evaluation of commutation failure risk in single-or multi-infeed LCC-HVDC systems based on equivalent-fault method

In single-or multi-infeed line-commutated converter-based high-voltage direct current(LCC-HVDC) systems, commutation failure(CF) induced by alternating current(AC) faults may lead to serious consequences. Considering the randomness of fault occurrences, an accurate evaluation of the CF risk(CFR) from the system point of view becomes necessary in power system planning and operation. This paper first provides a definition of the CF severity(CFS) index corresponding to an AC fault. Then,on the basis of electromagnetic transient(EMT) simulation, an approach to calculate the CFS index considering the randomness of fault-occurrence time is presented. A novel equivalent-fault method is further put forward to make the EMT simulation scalable to calculate the CFS index in terms of a fault occurring in a large-scale receiving-end grid. Thereafter, the CFR index is introduced, which is defined as the sum of the products of the CFS index of each AC fault and the corresponding fault ***, the proposed method is verified on the modified IEEE 9-bus and modified IEEE 39-bus systems using PSCAD/EMTDC.

Value of radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a malignant disease that substantially affects public health *** is especially prevalent in east Asia and sub-Saharan Africa,where the main etiology is the endemic status of chronic hepatitis *** treatments with curative intent for early HCC include liver transplantation,liver resection(LR),and radiofrequency ablation(RFA).RFA has become the most widely used local thermal ablation method in recent years because of its technical ease,safety,satisfactory local tumor control,and minimally invasive *** technique has also emerged as an important treatment strategy for HCC in recent ***,liver transplantation,and hepatectomy can be complementary to one another in the treatment of HCC,and the outcome benefits have been demonstrated by numerous clinical *** a pretransplantation bridge therapy,RFA extends the average waiting time without increasing the risk of dropout or *** contrast to LR,RFA causes almost no intraabdominal adhesion,thus producing favorable conditions for subsequent liver *** studieshave demonstrated mutual interactions between RFA and hepatectomy,effectively expanding the operative indications for patients with HCC and enhancing the efficacy of these ***,treated tumor tissue remains within the body after RFA,and residual tumors or satellite nodules can limit the effectiveness of this ***,future research should focus on this issue.

The Flavor and Antioxidant Activity Change Pattern of Shrimp Head Paste During Fermentation

To study the changes of volatile compounds and antioxidant activity of fast fermented shrimp head paste during the fermentation processing,Penaeus vannamei boone head was used as the raw material,and compound starter was added for *** the 14 days of fermentation,the changes of free amino acids,volatile flavor compounds and main components were determined by SPME-GC-MS and electronic *** oxidation-resistance changes of water extract at different fermentation stages were *** results showed that the total free amino acids increased from original 2320 to 5640 mg(100 mL)^(−1).SPME-GC-MS analysis found that aldehydes,pyrazine compounds increased from 10.80%,1.94%to 24.35%,13.63%respectively during the fermentation *** HO·scavenging ability of shrimp head paste increased from 52%to 86%.Our results showed that the shrimp paste produced from shrimp head fermentation could obtain good flavor and possess certain antioxidant activity of aquatic fermented condiment.

Effect of Central Multiphase Microstructure of Thick Plates on Work Hardening and Crack Propagation

The effect of multiphase microstructure in the center segregation zones(CSZ)of high-strength steel thick plates on work hardening characteristics and crack initiation/propagation were *** was correlated with deformation damage behavior by using Taylor factor(TF)gradients,kernel average misorientation(KAM),and geometric necessary dislocation(GND)*** results show that the segregation leads to a mixed structure of ferrite(soft phase)and martensite/bainite(hard phase)in the center of the thick *** to the 1/4 thickness(1/4 T)region,grain refinement occurred in the CSZ,with KAM values increasing from 0.24 to 0.49 and a decrease in the proportion of high-angle grain boundaries(>15°)from 77.4 to 51.8%.In the process of deformation,due to the influence of grain refinement and adjacent martensite/bainite,ferrite grains were divided into structural units with different TF *** higher KAM value and GND density at the interface between soft/hard phases resulted in severe work *** addition,the presence of micron-sized inclusions in the CSZ caused local strain concentration and non-continuous deformation of the matrix,which induced crack *** fracture surface showed a mixed mode of brittle cleavage fracture and ductile fracture.

Electronic Structure and Magnetic Properties of Cr-Doped AlN

To understand the electronic and magnetic properties, we have studied Cr-doped zinc-blende AlN system in detail by applying a first-principle plane wave pseudopotential method based on the density functional theory within the local spin density approximation. The analyses of the band structures, density of states, exchange interactions, and magnetic moments show that Al1-xCrxN alloys may exhibit a half-metallic ferromagnetism character, that Cr in the diluted doping limit forms near-midgap deep levels, and that the total magnetization of the cell is 3μB per Cr atom, which does not change with Cr concentration. Moreover, we have succeeded in predicting that Al1-xCrzN alloys in x = 0.0625 has a very high Curie temperature, and lind that ferromagnetic exchange interaction between magnetic dopants is short-ranged.

Fracture mechanism of inclusions in thick plate center under tensile loading

Segregation of solute atoms in the center of thick plates of the tempered steel can cause an inhomogeneous structural transformation and generate micron-sized inclusions,which leads to lamellar tearing of thick plate and decreases the plasticity and *** formation and fragmentation mechanisms of micron-sized inclusions,like MnS and(Nb,Ti)C,in the center of thick plates were investigated by using thermodynamic calculations,finite element simulations,and electron backscatter diffraction characterization *** results show that micron-sized inclusions nucleate and grow in the liquid phase,and under tensile loading,they exhibit three fragmentation *** local stress during the fragmentation of inclusions is lower than the critical fracture stress of adjacent grains,and phase boundaries can effectively impede crack propagation into the *** existence of a low proportion of high-angle grain boundaries(58.1%)and high Kernel average misorientation value(0.534°)in the segregation band promotes inclusions fragmentation and crack *** difference in crack initiation and propagation direction caused by the morphology of inclusions and physical properties,as well as different matrix arrest abilities,is the main reasons for the diversity of inclusion fragmentation.
