Investigation of the cytotoxicity,antioxidative and immune-modulatory effects of Ligusticum porteri(osha) root extract on human peripheral blood lymphocytes

oBJECTIVE： Ligusticum ported is a traditional Native American herb. The roots of L. ported are traditionally used in the treatment of many diseases, however, its cytotoxicity, antioxidative and immune- modulatory effects need to be investigated. In this study, we evaluated the effects of the root extract at different doses on human peripheral blood lymphocytes （PBLs）. METHoDS： The lymphocytes were incubated with different concentrations of the root extracts （0, 50, 100, 200, and 400 μg/mL） and harvested every 6 h for 2 d （P〈0.05）. The protective effect of the herb against oxidative damage was determined by inducing oxidative stress with the administration of 50 μmol/L of hydrogen peroxide （H202）. RESULTS： Treatments with L. ported at 200 and 400 pg/mL increased the viability of PBLs. The deleterious effect of H2o2 was ameliorated by 400μg/mL L. ported treatment. Addition of 400 μg/mL L. ported reduced lipid peroxidation in stressed PBLs by 94% （P〈0.05）. Treatment with 400 μg/mL of L. ported resulted in a 26.4% increase of reduced glutathione levels. Activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase increased by 17.5% and 55.2% respectively, when stressed PBLs were treated with 400 μg/mL L. ported for 2 d （P〈0.05）. Treatment with 400 μg/mL L. ported increased interferon-γand interleukin-2 expressions in H2o2-challenged PBLs （P〈0.05）, however, the root extract did not cause a significant difference in interleukin-10 levels compared to the control （P〉0.05）. CoNCLUSIoN： The findings suggest that L involving protective effects against oxidative ported might be a potential immune-modulating agent damage.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(Go-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** Go-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device PCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

Impact of radiation pressure and circumstellar dust on motion of a test particle in Manev’s field

In this paper,we present a study on the impact of radiation pressure and circumstellar dust on the motion of a test particle in the framework of the restricted four-body problem under the Manev’s *** show that the distribution of equilibrium points on the plane of motion is slightly different from that of the classical Newtonian *** the aid of the Lyapunov characteristic exponents,we show that the system is sensitive to changes in initial conditions;hence,the orbit of the system is found to be chaotic in the phase space for the given initial ***,a numerical application of this model to a stellar system(Gliese 667C)is considered,which validates the dependence of the equilibrium points on the mass *** show that the non-collinear equilibrium points of this stellar system are distributed symmetrically about the x-axis,and five of them are linearly *** basins of attraction of the system show that the equilibrium points have irregular boundaries,and we use the energy integral and the Manev parameter to illustrate the zero-velocity curves showing the permissible region of motion of the test particle with respect to the Jacobi constant.

INFLUENCE oF RARE EARTH DoPING oN MECHANICAL PRoPERTY AND MICRo-STRUCTURE oF CHRoMIA oXIDE FILM

The isothermal oxidizing kinetics of Co-40Cr alloy and its yttrium ion-implanted samples are studied at 1 000 ℃ in air by thermal-gravity analysis （TGA）. Scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） is used to examine the Cr2o3 oxide film＇s morphology after oxidation. Acoustic emission （AE） method is used in situ for monitoring the cracking and spalling of oxide films formed on both samples during oxidizing and subsequent air-cooling stages. Theoretical model is proposed relating to the film fracture process and is used for analyzing the acoustic emission spectrum both on time domain and on AE-event number domain. It is found that yttrium implantation remarkably reduces the isothermal oxidizing rate of Co-40Cr and improves the anti-cracking and anti-spalling properties of Cr2o3 oxide film. The reasons for the improvement are mainly that the implanted yttrium reduced the grain size of Cr2o3 oxide, increased the high temperature plasticity of oxide film, and remarkably reduced the number and size of Cr2o3/Co-40Cr inteffacial defects.

Efficiency of Legumes in Increasing Yam Yield under Sandy Ferrasol in the Forest Zone of Southwestern Côte d’Ivoire

The cropping system is based on traditional farming in rural areas. In this way, yields of some food crops like yam are very low considering their high need for nutrients. The nutrient-rich land is under high land pressure as it is occupied by cash crops such as oil palm and rubber at the expense of food crops and soil fertility is declining. The study was conducted in Grand-Lahou to assess the effect of organic matter provided by legumes in increasing yam yield. The randomized complete block design included four (4) treatments: Arachis hypogaea + yam association (T1), Acacia mangium + yam association (T2), Arachis + Acacia mangium + yam association (T3) and pure yam crop (T0). The parameters measured were: the soil nutrients content, the rate of mineralization of organic matter through the C/N ratio as well as the yield of yam through different techniques that allowed the objective of the study to be achieved. It was noted a slight improvement of nitrogen and organic carbon in all treatments with a higher value recorded in the T2 treatment. The C/N ratio decreased to 12 in all treatments compared to the control, which reflects a normal decomposition of the organic matter. Treatment T1 increased yam yield (8.4 t/ha) in contrast to treatments T2 (4.1 t/ha) and T3 (2.8 t/ha). Legume-based treatments T2 and T3 were associated with a significant decrease in yam yield, resulting in losses of −46.34% to −25.09%, while treatment T1 resulted in a gain of 28.57%. As a result, the treatments involving legumes contributed to normalizing the organic matter content of the soil. The simultaneous association of these two legumes led to a decrease in yam production, contrary to the treatment associating only groundnut.
