The impact of climate change may be felt most keenly by tropical *** these taxa,it is argued,thermal specialization means a given shift in temperature will have a larger effect on *** species with limited dispersal ability,the impact of climate change depends on the capacity for their climate-relevant traits to *** shifts can occur through genetic adaptation,various forms of plasticity,or a combination of these *** we assess the extent and causes of shifts in 7 physiological traits in a tropical lizard,the rainforest sunskink(Lampropholis coggeri).Two populations were sampled that differ from each other in both climate and physiological *** compared trait values in each animal soon after field collection versus following acclimation to laboratory *** also compared trait values between populations in:(i)recently field-collected animals;(ii)the same animals following laboratory acclimation;and(iii)the laboratory-reared offspring of these *** results reveal high trait lability,driven primarily by acclimation and local *** contrast,developmental plasticity,resulting from incubation temperature,had little to no effect on most *** results suggest that,while specialized,tropical ectotherms may be capable of rapid shifts in climate-relevant traits.

BACKGROUND An isthmocele is a scar defect in the uterine wall due to a cesarean section. Its prevalence is unknown,but it has been associated with secondary ***,we present a case where the patient suffered from an isthmocele that was associated with persistent hydrometra,which developed during in vitro *** SUMMARY The patient underwent hysteroscopic surgery,which successfully resolved the isthmocele as well as the hydrometra. Afterward,two high-quality,euploid embryos,determined by morphological assessment and pre-implantation genetic diagnostic testing,were transferred. This resulted in uterine pregnancy,as determined byserum β-human chorionic gonadotropin levels on day 14(180 m U/mL) and ultrasound-confirmed presence of a gestational sac with a positive embryocardia at week 6. The pregnancy reached 36 wk without any complications,and the product was born in good health. We report a successful isthmocele treatment in a patient with secondary infertility,in which the isthmocele was the cause of persistent *** Hydrometra caused by secondary cesarean is an infertility factor,which can be corrected by hysteroscopy plus ablation of the isthmocele.

Understanding bark thickness variations for Araucaria angustifolia in southern Brazil

This study aimed to understand bark thickness variations of Araucaria angustifolia(Bertol.)Kuntze trees growing in natural forest remnants in southern Brazil,and their relationship with quantitative and qualitative *** thickness must be accurately estimated in order to determine timber volume *** is an important variable for the sustainable management and conservation of araucaria *** spite of its importance and visibility,bark thickness variations have not been evaluated for this key species in southern Brazil.A total of 104 trees were selected,and their qualitative and quantitative attributes such as diameter at breast height(D_(BH)),height(H),crown base height(C_(BH)),crown length(C_(L)),social position(S_(P)),stoniness(S_(T)),position on the relief(P_(R)),vitality(V_T)and branch arrangement(B_(A))were *** trees were categorized into two groups:red bark or gray *** analysis and artificial neural networks(ANN)were used for modelling bark *** results indicate that:(1)bark thickness showed good correlation to D_(BH),with 0.76 as coefficient of determination(RS_P),0.540 as Mean Absolute Error(M_(AE))and 22.4 root-meansquare error in percentage(R_(MSE%));(2)the trend changed according to bark colour,with significant differences for the intersection(_0–Pr>F:p=0.0124)and slope(β_(1)–Pr>F:p=0.0126)of bark thickness curves between groups;(3)the highest correlation of bark thickness was found with:D_(BH)(ρ=0.88),H(ρ=0.58),C_(BH)(ρ=0.46),S_(P)(ρ=-0.52),and B_(A)(ρ=-0.32);(4)modelling with ANN confirmed high adjustment(R^(2)=0.99)and accuracy(R_(MSE%)=3.0)of the *** is an efficient and robust technique for the modelling of various qualitative and quantitative attributes commonly used in forest *** effective use of ANN to estimate araucaria bark in natural forests reinforces its potential,besides the possibility of application for other forest species.

By embedding the Standard Model effective field theory(SMEFT) in the more general Higgs effective field theory(HEFT), we expose correlations among the coefficients of the latter that, if found to be violated in future data, would lead to the experimental falsification of the SMEFT framework. These are derived from the necessary symmetric point of HEFT and analyticity of the SMEFT Lagrangian that allows the construction of the SMEFT expansion, as laid out by other groups, and properties at that point of the Higgs-flare function F(h) coupling Goldstone and Higgs bosons, of the Higgs potential V(h) and of the Higgs-top quark coupling function G(h).

Nonpolar m-plane AlGaN offers the advantage of polarization-free multiple quantum wells(MQWs)for ultraviolet(UV)emission and can be achieved on the sidewalls of selective area grown GaN *** reveal that the growth of AlGaN on GaN nanowires by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD)is driven by vapor-phase diffusion,and consequently puts a limit on the pitch of nanowire array due to shadowing *** insight into the difficulty of achieving metal-polar AlGaN nanowire by selective area growth(SAG)in MOCVD is also provided and can be attributed to the strong tendency to form pyramidal structure due to a very small growth rate of{1011}semipolar planes compared to(0001)*** nonpolar m-plane sidewalls of GaN nanowires obtained via SAG provides an excellent platform for growth of nonpolar AlGaN *** emission from mplane Al_(x)Ga_(1−x)N/Al_(y)Ga_(1−y)N MQWs grown on sidewalls of dislocation-free GaN nanowire is demonstrated in the wavelength range of 318–343 nm.

The port of Callao is important for its varied historical and archaeological heritage,which includes several military buildings that were the main actors and witnesses of the colonial era of Peru(from the 16th century to the country’s independence from Spain early in the 19th century).Despite the studies that have been carried out on the basis of documents and some eventual archaeological excavations,the port’s main monument,namely,the Real felipe Fortress,continues to hide very important information that could be used to understand the role that the fortress played in numerous historical events throughout the *** main contribution of this study is the use of photogrammetry software and a Geographic Information System(GIS)to examine the Real felipe *** this way,the nature of the atypical construction within the fortress is *** a result,it is possible to accurately establish the location of the defensive wall that surrounded the ancient city of Callao,as well as its first churches,whose records were lost after being destroyed by the 1746 earthquake and tsunami in Lima,the worst cataclysm registered in the history of Peru and South *** a result,this study demonstrates that technology can be successfully used to establish and validate with great precision the existence of the location of churches that have been built in the port of Callao since the founding of Lima in the 16th *** identification allows architects,engineers and students who are interested in the history of monuments to discover hidden structures and buildings and carry out the necessary restoration and archaeological works,with the aim of recovering the history of the colonial architecture of Callao and other similar cities and ports worldwide.

Aluminum （AI） toxicity in plants is one of the primary constraints in crop production. Al3＋, the most toxic form of Al, is released into soil under acidic conditions and causes extensive damage to plants, especially in the roots. In rice, Al tolerance requires the ASR5 gene, but the molecular function of ASR5 has remained unknown. Here, we perform genome-wide analyses to identify ASR5-dependent Al-responsive genes in rice. Based on ASRS_RNAi silencing in plants, a global transcriptome analysis identified a total of 961 genes that were responsive to Al treatment in wildtype rice roots. Of these genes, 909 did not respond to Al in the ASR5_RNAi plants, indicating a central role for ASR5 in Al-responsive gene expression. Under normal conditions, without Al treatment, the ASR5 RNAi plants expressed 1.756 genes differentially compared to the wild-type plants, and 446 of these genes responded to AI treatment in the wild-type plants. Chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by deep sequencing identified 104 putative target genes that were directly regulated by ASR5 binding to their promoters, including the STAR1 gene, which encodes an ABC transporter required for AI tolerance. Motif analysis of the binding peak sequences revealed the binding motif for ASR5, which was confirmed via in vitro DNA-binding assays using the STAR1 promoter. These results demonstrate that ASR5 acts as a key transcription factor that is essential for AI-responsive gene expression and Al tolerance in rice.

Ecological interactions between flowers and pollinators are all about timing. Flower opening/closing and scent emissions are largely synchronized with pollinator activity, and a circadian clock regulates these rhythms. However, whether the circadian clock increases a plant＇s reproductive success by regulating these floral rhythms remains untested. Flowers of Nicotiana attenuata, a wild tobacco, diurnally and rhythmically open, emit scent and move vertically through a 140° arc to interact with nocturnal hawkmoths. We tethered flowers to evaluate the importanceof flower positions for Manduca flower position dramatically sexta-mediated pollinations; nfluenced pollination. We examined the pollination success of phase-shifted flowers, silenced in circadian clock genes, NaZTL, NaLHY, and NaTOCI, by RNAi. Circadian rhythms in N. attenuata flowers are responsible for altered seed set from outcrossed pollen.

The reinforcing impact of Lignocellulosic micro and nanofibrillated cellulose(L-MNFCs)obtained from Eucalyp-tus Globulus bark in Urea-Formaldehyde UF adhesive was tested.L-MNFCs were prepared by an environmentally friendly,low-cost process using a combination process involving steam explosion followed by refining and ultra-fine *** L-MNFCs showed a web-like morphology with some aggregates and lignin *** present a mixture of residual fibers and fine elements with a width varying between 5 nm to 20μm,*** effects of the addition of low amounts of L-MNFCs(1%wt.)on the properties of three different adhe-sives(Urea-Formaldehyde UF,Phenol-Formaldehyde PF,and Tannin-Hexamine TH)were studied by the evolution of the pH,the viscosity,and the mechanical *** showed that the viscosity of PF and UF adhesives increased with the addition of L-MNFCs,unlike ***,the addition led to better mechan-ical behavior for the three *** were then prepared using modified UF with L-MNFCs and *** showed that an amount of 1%*** L-MNFCs was sufficient to increase the internal bonding by≈67%,the modulus of elasticity by≈43%,and the modulus of rupture by≈29%.
