Af.ican leaf. vegetables are becoming important crops in tackling nutrition and f.od security in many parts of.sub-Saharan Af.ica, since they provide important micronutrients and vitamins, and help resource-poor f.rm f.milies bridge lean periods of.f.od shortage. Genetic diversity studies are essential f.r crop improvement programmes as well as germplasm conservation ef.orts, and research on genetic diversity of.these vegetables using molecular markers has been increasing over time. Diversity studies have evolved f.om the use of.morphological and biochemical markers to molecular markers. Molecular markers provide valuable data, since they detect mostly selectively neutral variations at the DNA level. They are well established and their strengths and limitations have been described. New marker types are being developed f.om a combination of.the strengths of.the basic techniques to improve sensitivity, reproducibility, polymorphic inf.rmation content, speed and cost. This review discusses the principles of.some of.the established molecular markers and their application to genetic diversity studies of.Af.ican leaf. vegetables with a main f.cus on the most common Solanum, Amaranthus, Cleome and Vigna species.

Isolation of.Pseudomonas f.uorescens Species f.om Rhizospheric Soil of.Health f.ba Bean and Assessment of.Their Antagonistic Activity and Potential of.Biocontrol under in Vivo Against Botrytis f.bae （Chocolate Spot Diseases）

Crop disease is an important area which needs attention since most of.the hazardous inputs added into the agricultural system are in the f.rm of.plant protection chemicals. Production of.the crop is, however, constrained by several disease inf.ctions including f.ngal diseases. The present study f.cused to isolate, Pseudomonasf.uorescens possess a variety of.promising properties which make it a better biocontrol agent. Two Pseudomonas f.uorescens isolates f.om rhizospheric soil of.f.ba bean were evaluated f.r their antagonistic activity against Botrytisf.bae that is known to attack f.ba bean crops. Bio-primed f.ba bean seed with P f.9 and P f.10 （Pseudomonasf.uorescens isolates 9 and Pseudomonasf.uorescens isolates 10） f.r pathogencity test in green house was indicated an initiate positive result respectively. Two isolates of.P f.9 and P f.10 reduced both disease severity and incidence. So it could be concluded that the used P f. and P f.10 could resist the detrimental ef.ects of.Botrytisf.bae on the plant growth and yield that will be used as biocontrol in the f.rm af.er f.eld test.
