Online Learning a Binary Classifier for Improving Google Image Search Results

It is promising to improve web image search results through exploiting the results' visual contents for learning a binary classifier which is used to refine the results' relevance degrees to the given query. This paper proposes an algorithm framework as a solution to this problem and investigates the key issue of training data selection under the framework. The training data selection process is divided into two stages: initial selection for triggering the classifier learning and dynamic selection in the iterations of classifier learning. We investigate two main ways of initial training data selection, including clustering based and ranking based, and compare automatic training data selection schemes with manual manner. Furthermore, support vector machines and the max-min pseudo-probability (MMP) based Bayesian classifier are employed to support image classification, respectively. By varying these factors in the framework, we implement eight algorithms and tested them on keyword based image search results from Google search engine. The experimental results confirm that how to select the training data from noisy search results is really a key issue in the problem considered in this paper and show that the proposed algorithm is effective to improve Google search results, especially at top ranks, thus is helpful to reduce the user labor in finding the desired images by browsing the ranking in depth. Even so, it is still worth meditative to make automatic training data selection scheme better towards perfect human annotation.

Owing to the significant potential of alkalin seawater electrolysis for converting surplus power into eco friendly hydrogen fuel,we developed bifunctional elec trodes that integrate low-crystalline NiFe LDHs and amorphous NiFe alloy on a Ni foam （NF） substrate to enhance this *** by the battery-like charac teristics of NiFe LDHs,an anti-corrosive and active oute layer of NiFevacOOH continuously forms over time in th hybrid on the anode for the oxygen evolution reaction（OER）,effectively mitigating powder shedding caused by corrosion induced by multiple anions in *** while,the strong bond between the hybrid and the NF substrate maintains intact hybrid coatings to ensure a rel atively high overall conductivity of the electrodes,signif icantly reducing the negative effects of structura degradation during the OER and hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）,as well as the accumulation of contami nants on the electrode *** long-term tests,thes bifunctionalhybridelectrodesmaintained stable performance,even at a high current density o500 mA·*** cell voltage increased by only 88 m V over 1000 h to 1.970 V during saline electrolysis and by103 mV over 500 h to 2.062 V during seawater electroly ***,this study provides valuable insights into efficient and stable seawater electrolysis using NiFe LDHs–NiFe alloy hybrids.

To explain the recent three-year La Niña event from 2020 to 2022,which has caused catastrophic weather events worldwide,Fasullo et al.(2023)demonstrated that the increase in biomass aerosol resulting from the 2019-20 Australian wildfire season could have triggered this multi-year La Niñ***,we present compelling evidence from paleo-proxies,utilizing a substantial sample size of 26 volcanic eruptions in the Southern Hemisphere(SH),to support the hypothesis that ocean cooling in the SH can lead to a multi-year La Niña *** research highlights the importance of focusing on the Southern Ocean,as current climate models struggle to accurately simulate the Pacific response driven by the Southern Ocean.

We study the local quantum Fisher information(LQFI)in the mixed-spin Heisenberg XXZ *** the maximal and minimal LQFI are studied and the former is essential to determine the accuracy of the quantum parameter estimation,the latter can be well used to characterize the discord-type quantum *** investigate the effects of the temperature and the anisotropy parameter on the maximal LQFI and thus on the accuracy of the parameter *** we make use of the minimal LQFI to study the discord-type correlations of different site *** dimensions of the subsystems cause different values of the minimal LQFI which reflects the asymmetry of the discord-type *** addition,the site pairs at different positions of the spin chains have different minimal LQFI,which reveals the influence of the surrounding spins on the bipartite quantum *** results show that the LQFI obtained through a simple calculation process provides a convenient way to investigate the discord-type correlation in high-dimensional systems.

Organic solar cells(OSCs) have drawn considerable attention in the last decade due to the great potential of light weight,flexibility, and low-cost solution processing. Particularly, Y-series non-fullerene acceptors(NFAs) including small molecular acceptors(SMAs) and polymerized small molecular acceptors(PSMAs) have become research hot spots due to their excellent power conversion efficiency. Side chain engineering is crucial to adjust the solubility and crystallinity of NFAs, which will significantly affect the morphology of active layers and the efficiency of OSCs. However, the understanding of side chain engineering on NFAs is still limited and lacks a systematic review. This review aims to provide a brief summary of the recent developments in side chain engineering of NFAs, with a special focus on the design and application of Y-series SMAs and PSMAs for high-efficiency non-fullerene organic solar cells(NF-OSCs). In addition, the review also points out challenges and provides useful guidance regarding side chain regulation for Y-series NFAs.

Dear Editor,This letter focuses on the distributed optimal containment control of continuous-time multi-agent systems(CTMASs)with respect to the minimum-energy performance index over fixed *** achieve this,we firstly investigate the optimal containment control problem using the inverse optimal control method,where all states of followers asymptotically converge to the convex hull spanned by the leaders while some quadratic performance indexes get minimized.A sufficient condition for existence of the distributed optimal containment control protocol is *** introducing the parametric algebraic Riccati equation(PARE),it is strictly proved that the global performance index can be used to approximate the standard minimumenergy performance index as the parameters tends to *** consequence,the standard minimum-energy cooperative containment control can be solved by local steady state feedback protocols.

To design a propeller for ship power plant,the interaction between ship hull and propeller must be taken into *** main concern is to apply the wake effect of ship stern on the propeller *** this paper,a coupled BEM(Boundary Element Method)/RANS(Renolds-Averaged Navier−Stokes)solver is used to simulate propeller behind the hull in the self-propulsion *** motivation of this work is to develop a practical tool to design marine propulsion system without suffering long computational *** unsteady boundary element method which is also known as panel method is chosen to estimate the propeller *** wakes are treated using a time marching wake alignment ***,a RANS code coupled with VoF equation is developed to consider the ship motions and wake field effects in the problem.A coupling algorithm is developed to interchange ship wake field to the potential flow solver and propeller thrust to the RANS *** on the difference between hull resistance and the propeller thrust,a PI controller is developed to compute the propeller RPM in every time *** of the solver is carried out using the towing tank test report of a 50 m oceanography research *** factor and trust deduction coefficient are estimated ***,the wake rollup pattern of the propeller in open water is compared with the propeller in real wake field.
