Adhesively Bonded Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic(CFRP)and titanium alloy have been extensively used as a hybrid structure in modern aircrafts due to their excellent combination of mechanical properties and chemical stabilities.This study utilised NaOH anodising method to create micro-rough titanium surfaces for enhancing adhesive bonding between titanium alloy and CFRP laminates.A special and simple technique named Resin Pre-Coating(RPC)was also employed to improve the surface wetting of anodised titanium and grinded CFRP substrates.The influences of anodising temperature and duration on the surface morphology,wettability and adhesive bond strength were investigated.The single lap shear test results showed that the bond strength of specimens anodised at 20℃for 15 min improved by 135.9%and 95.4%,respectively,in comparison with that of acid pickled and grinded specimens(without RPC treatment).Although increasing the anodising temperature and duration produced rougher titanium surfaces,the adhesively bonded joints were not strong enough due to relatively friable titanium oxide layers.

Colorectal cancer liver metastasis(CRLM)presents a clinical challenge,and optimizing treatment strategies is crucial for improving patient outcomes.Surgical resection,a key element in achieving prolonged survival,is often linked to a heightened risk of recurrence.Acknowledging the potential benefits of preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy in managing resectable liver metastases,this approach has gained attention for its role in tumor downsizing,assessing biological behavior,and reducing the risk of postoperative recurrence.However,the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in initially resectable CRLM sparks ongoing debates.The balance between tumor reduction and the risk of hepatic injury,coupled with concerns about delaying surgery,necessitates a nuanced approach.This article explores recent research insights and draws upon the practical experiences at our center to address critical issues regarding considerations for initially resectable cases.Examining the criteria for patient selection and the judicious choice of neoadjuvant regimens are pivotal areas of discussion.Striking the right balance between maximizing treatment efficacy and minimizing adverse effects is imperative.The dynamic landscape of precision medicine is also reflected in the evolving role of gene testing,such as RAS/BRAF and PIK3CA,in tailoring neoadjuvant regimens.Furthermore,the review emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach to navigate the comp-lexities of CRLM.Integrating technical expertise and biological insights is crucial in refining neoadjuvant strategies.The management of progression following neoadjuvant chemotherapy requires a tailored approach,acknowledging the diverse biological behaviors that may emerge.In conclusion,this review aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the considerations,challenges,and advancements in the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for initially resectable CRLM.By combining evidencebased insights with practical experiences,we aspire to contribute to the ongoing discourse on refining treatment

Spinal cord injury(SCI)is a devastating traumatic disease seriously impairing the quality of life in patients.Expectations to allow the hopeless central nervous system to repair itself after injury are unfeasible.Developing new approaches to regenerate the central nervous system is still the priority.Exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells(MSC-Exo)have been proven to robustly quench the inflammatory response or oxidative stress and curb neuronal apoptosis and autophagy following SCI,which are the key processes to rescue damaged spinal cord neurons and restore their functions.Nonetheless,MSC-Exo in SCI received scant attention.In this review,we reviewed our previous work and other studies to summarize the roles of MSC-Exo in SCI and its underlying mechanisms.Furthermore,we also focus on the application of exosomes as drug carrier in SCI.In particular,it combs the advantages of exosomes as a drug carrier for SCI,imaging advantages,drug types,loading methods,etc.,which provides the latest progress for exosomes in the treatment of SCI,especially drug carrier.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)ranks sixth globally in cancer incidence and third in mortality rates.Unfortunately,over 70% of HCC patients forego the opportunity for curative surgery or liver transplantation due to inadequate physical examinations,poor physical condition,and limited organ availability upon diagnosis.Clinical guidelines endorse transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)as the frontline treatment for intermediate to advanced-stage HCC.Cryoablation(CRA)is an emerging local ablative therapy increasingly used in HCC management.Recent studies suggest that combining CRA with TACE offers complementary and synergistic effects,potentially improving long-term survival rates.However,the superiority of combined TACE+CRA therapy over TACE alone for HCC lesions equal to or exceeding 5 cm requires further investigation.AIM To compare the efficacy and safety of TACE combined with CRA vs TACE alone in the treatment of HCC with a diameter of≥5 cm.METHODS PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang,and VIP databases were searched to retrieve all relevant studies on TACE and CRA up to July 2022.Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software.RESULTS After screening according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,6 articles were included,including 2 randomized controlled trials and 4 nonrandomized controlled trials,with a total of 575 patients included in the meta-analysis.The results showed that the objective response rate[odds ratio(OR)=2.56,95%confidence interval(CI):1.66-3.96,P<0.0001],disease control rate(OR=3.03,95%CI:1.88-4.89,P<0.00001),1-year survival rate(OR=3.79,95%CI:2.50-5.76,P<0.00001),2-year survival rate(OR=2.34,95%CI:1.43-3.85,P=0.0008),and 3-year survival rate(OR=3.34,95%CI:1.61-6.94,P=0.001)were all superior to those of the control group;the postoperative decrease in alpha-fetoprotein value(OR=295.53,95%CI:250.22-340.85,P<0.0001),the postoperative increase in CD4 value(OR=10.59,95%CI:8.78-12.40,P<0.00001),and the postoperative decrease in CD8 value(OR=6.47,95%CI:4.44-8.50,P<0.00001)were

Compressive strengths and elastic moduli of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP)composites can be noticeably improved by multiple ultra-thin interlays with non-woven Aramid Pulp(AP)micro/nano-fibers.10-ply CFRP specimens with 0,2,4,6,8 g/m^(2)AP were tested under uniaxial compression.Those flexible AP fibers,filling the resin-rich regions and further constructing the fiber bridging at the ply interfaces,can effectively suppress delamination growth and lead to very good improvements both in the compressive strength and the elastic modulus.The CFRP specimen with an optimum interlay thickness has a distinct shear failure mode instead of the typical delamination cracking along the direction of continuous carbon fibers.Compressive Strengths After Impacts(CAI)of 12.35 J were also measured,up to 90%improvement in CAI has been observed.It is concluded those ultra-thin interlays of non-woven AP micro/nano-fibers are beneficial to design and manufacture“high strength”CFRP composites.

To solve the problem of grid coarse-grained reconfigurable array task mapping under multiple constraints,we propose a Loop Subgraph-Level Greedy Mapping(LSLGM)algorithm using parallelism and processing element fragmentation.Under the constraint of a reconfigurable array,the LSLGM algorithm schedules node from a ready queue to the current reconfigurable cell array block.After mapping a node,its successor’s indegree value will be dynamically updated.If its successor’s indegree is zero,it will be directly scheduled to the ready queue;otherwise,the predecessor must be dynamically checked.If the predecessor cannot be mapped,it will be scheduled to a blocking queue.To dynamically adjust the ready node scheduling order,the scheduling function is constructed by exploiting factors,such as node number,node level,and node dependency.Compared with the loop subgraph-level mapping algorithm,experimental results show that the total cycles of the LSLGM algorithm decreases by an average of 33.0%(PEA44)and 33.9%(PEA_(7×7)).Compared with the epimorphism map algorithm,the total cycles of the LSLGM algorithm decrease by an average of 38.1%(PEA_(4×4))and 39.0%(PEA_(7×7)).The feasibility of LSLGM is verified.

Cracking in wading-concrete structures has a worse impact on structural safety compared with conventional concrete structures.The accurate and timely monitoring of crack development plays a significant role in the safety of wading-concrete engineering.The heat-transfer rate near a crack is related to the flow velocity of the fluid in the crack.Based on this,a novel crack-identification method for underwater concrete structures is presented.This method uses water irrigation to generate seepage at the interface of a crack;then,the heat-dissipation rate in the crack area will increase because of the convective heat-transfer effect near the crack.Crack information can be identified by monitoring the cooling law and leakage flow near cracks.The proposed mobile crack-monitoring system consists of a heating system,temperature-measurement system,and irrigation system.A series of tests was conducted on a reinforcedconcrete beam using this system.The crack-discrimination indexψwas defined,according to the subsection characteristics of the heat-source cooling curve.The effects of the crack width,leakage flow,and relative positions of the heat source and crack onψwere studied.The results showed that the distribution characteristics ofψalong the monitoring line could accurately locate the crack,but not quantify the crack width.However,the leakage flow is sensitive to the crack width and can be used to identify it.

Frequency-Domain Full-Waveform Inversion Based on Tunnel Space Seismic Data

Tunnel seismic detection methods are effective for obtaining the geological structure around the tunnel face,which is critical for safe construction and disaster mitigation in tunnel engineering.However,there is often a lack of accuracy in the acquired geological information and physical properties ahead of the tunnel face in the current tunnel seismic detection methods.Thus,we apply a frequency-domain acoustic full-waveform inversion(FWI)method to obtain high-resolution results for the tunnel structure.We discuss the influence of the frequency group selection strategy and the tunnel observation system settings regarding the inversion results and determine the structural imaging and physical property parameter inversion of abnormal geological bodies ahead of the tunnel face.Based on the conventional strategies of frequency-domain acoustic FWI,we propose a frequency group selection strategy that combines a low-frequency selection covering the vertical wavenumber and a high-frequency selection of antialiasing.This strategy can effectively obtain the spatial structure and physical parameters of the geology ahead of the tunnel face and improve the inversion resolution.In addition,by linearly increasing the side length of the tunnel observation system,we share the influence of the length of the two sides of the observation systems of different tunnels on the inversion results.We found out that the inversion results are the best when the side length is approximately five times the width of the tunnel face,and the influence of increasing the side observation length beyond this range on the inversion results can be ignored.Finally,based on this approach,we invert for the complex multi-stratum model,and an accurate structure and physical property parameters of the complex stratum ahead of the tunnel face are obtained,which verifies the feasibility of the proposed method.

BACKGROUND Biliary adenofibromas(BAFs)are rare primary hepatic neoplasms,some of which can potentially undergo malignant transformation.Here,we describe a rare case of malignant transformation of BAF.CASE SUMMARY A 51-year-old female was referred to our hospital with epigastric pain.Computed tomography showed a solitary liver mass combined with the enlargement of multiple mediastinal and cervical lymph nodes,clinically mimicking a liver carcinoma with extensive lymph node metastasis.However,core needle biopsy suggested BAF with malignant transformation.Finally,the patient underwent curative resection of the neoplasm and was recurrence-free for 12 mo.CONCLUSION Our case serves as an example of a rare manifestation of BAF.Our report and the previously published experience,reinforce that curative resection should be considered the primary treatment for BAFs with malignant transformation,leading to a favorable prognosis.

This study presents a simple technique for strengthening the adhesive-bond strength between aluminium(Al)substrate and carbon fibre reinforced polymer(CFRP) utilising resin pre-coating(RPC) with carbon nanotubes(CNTs). The CNT-containing RPC solution with 90 wt% acetone and 10 wt% resin(without hardener) was applied onto Al substrates, where micro-/nano-vertical channels had been created by chemical or mechanical surface treatments to accommodate CNTs. RPC was able to fill all micro-/nano-cavities over the Al substrate surface, then CNTs were pulled into those vertical micro-channels by the capillary action generated from acetone evaporation.Normal epoxy adhesive(resin + hardener) was applied after the CNT-containing RPC treatment. CNTs bridging across the interface between the adhesive joint and Al substrate and sealing of micro-/nano-cavities by RPC effectively enhanced the interfacial shear bond strength between the Al substrate and CFRP by 30–100%depending on the Al substrate surface profiles. Al substrates with two different chemical treatments were compared in this study for the effectiveness of CNT interfacial reinforcement. Results from a steel substrate after sandblasting were also included for comparison.
