Effect of thermal maturation and organic matter content on oil shale fracturing

The Pabdeh Formation represents organic matter enrichment in some oil fields,which can be considered a source *** study is based on the Rock–Eval,Iatroscan,and electron microscopy imaging results before and after heating the *** discovered this immature shale that undergoes burial and diagenesis,in which organic matter is converted into *** migration is the process that transports hydrocarbons in the source *** investigated this phenomenon by developing a model that simulates hydrocarbon generation and fluid pressure during kerogen-to-hydrocarbon *** initially formed at the tip/edge of kerogen and were filled with hydrocarbons,but as catagenesis progressed,the pressure caused by the volume increase of kerogen decreased due to hydrocarbon *** transformation of solid kerogen into low-density bitumen/oil increased the pressure,leading to the development of damage zones in the source *** Pabdeh Formation’s small porethroats hindered effective expulsion,causing an increase in pore fluid pressure inside the initial *** stress accumulated due to hydrocarbon production,reaching the rock’s fracture strength,further contributed to damage zone *** the expansion process,microfractures preferentially grew in low-strength pathways such as lithology changes,laminae boundaries,and pre-existing *** the porous pressure created by each kerogen overlapped,individual microfractures interconnected,forming a network of microfractures within the source *** research sheds light on the complex interplay between temperature,hydrocarbon generation,and the development of expulsion fractures in the Pabdeh Formation,providing valuable insights for understanding and optimizing hydrocarbon extraction in similar geological settings.

Objectives:Chronic rhinosinusitis is one of the common diseases that cause morbidity and affects a person's quality of *** tried to provide a more appropriate and effective approach to selecting patients for endoscopic sinus ***:The study population is chronic rhinosinusitis children referred to the ear,nose,and throat clinic of two general hospitals in Tehran,Iran,who have previously undergone sufficient drug treatment and have not *** Lund–Mackay score is calculated by examining the computed tomography(CT)*** Sino-nasal Outcome Test-22(SNOT-22)questionnaire was provided to the patients before the operation,after the operation,and 3 and 6 months later in the ***:Before the operation,the most SNOT-22 score people were in the range of 40–59 *** SNOT-22 score before the operation is significantly different from 3 and 6 months after the *** highest frequency of Lund–Mackay CT(LMCT)scan score was in the range of 18–23 *** LMCT scan score did not show any significant relationship with the SNOT-22 score before surgery,3 months,and 6 months after *** to aspirin had a significant relationship with SNOT-22 scores and the history of asthma and nasal polyps had a significant relationship with the preoperative LMCT scan ***:The LMCT scan scoring system cannot be a good measure of chronic rhinosinusitis severity or the prognosis of patients after *** SNOT-22 questionnaire can be used as a predictive tool to help the doctor and the patient in deciding to operate and the possibility of obtaining a relative recovery.

Objectives:2019 novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)infection is commonly associated with olfactory dysfunctions,but the basic pathogenesis of these complications remains *** study seeks to evaluate the value of magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS)in determining the molecular neurometabolite alterations within the main brain olfactory areas in patients with COVID-19-related ***:In a cross-sectional study,seven patients with persistent COVID-19-related anosmia(mean age:29.57 years)and seven healthy volunteers(mean age:27.28 years)underwent MRS in which N-acetyl-aspartate(NAA),choline(Cho),creatine(Cr),and their ratios were measured in the anterior cingulate cortex,dorsolateral prefrontal cortex,orbitofrontal cortex(OFC),insular cortex,and ventromedial prefrontal *** were analyzed using TARQUIN software(version 4.3.10),and the results were compared with an independent sample t-test and nonparametric Mann-Whitney test based on the normality of the MRS data ***:The mean duration of anosmia before imaging was 8.5 months in COVID-19-related anosmia *** analysis elucidated a significant association between MRS findings within OFC and COVID-19-related anosmia(P_(disease)<0.01),and NAA was among the most important neurometabolites(P_(interaction)=0.006).Reduced levels of NAA(P<0.001),Cr(P<0.001)and^(NAA)/Cho ratio(P=0.007)within OFC characterize COVID-19-related ***:This study emphasizes that MRS can be illuminating in COVID-19-related anosmia and indicates a possible association between central nervous system impairment and persistent COVID-19-related anosmia.

Optimal design of functionally graded Pm PV/CNT nanocomposite cylindrical tube for purpose of torque transmission

Carbon nanotube(CNT)/polymer nanocomposites have vast application in industry because of their light mass and high strength. In this work, a cylindrical tube which is made up of functionally graded(FG) PmP V/CNT nanocomposite, is optimally designed for the purpose of torque transmission. The main confining parameters of a rotating shaft in torque transmission process are mass of the shaft, critical speed of rotation and critical buckling torque. It is required to solve a multi-objective optimization problem(MOP) to consider these three targets simultaneously in the process of design. The three-objective optimization problem for this case is defined and solved using a hybrid method of FEM and modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm(NSGA-II), by coupling two softwares, MATLAB and ABAQUS. Optimization process provides a set of non-dominated optimal design vectors. Then, two methods, nearest to ideal point(NIP) and technique for ordering preferences by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS), are employed to choose trade-off optimum design vectors. Optimum parameters that are obtained from this work are compared with the results of previous studies for similar cylindrical tubes made from composite or a hybrid of aluminum and composite that more than 20% improvement is observed in all of the objective functions.

Improved drought tolerance in Festuca ovina *** plant growth promoting bacteria

Numerous ecological factors influence a plant’s ability to live and grow,in which dryness is a substantial constraint on plant growth in arid and semi-arid *** response to a specific environmental stress,plants can use the most effective bacteria to support and facilitate their growth and ***,plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)is widely used to reduce drought stress on plant *** this study,the effects of drought on Festuca ovina ***,growth,and nutrient absorption were investigated using PGPR in a factorial test with a completely random design under four water *** water content was kept at 100%FC(field capacity),70%FC(FC),50%FC,and 30%*** treatments were inoculated with Azotobacter vinelandii,Pantoea agglomerans+Pseudomonas putida,and a mixture of *** showed that the effects of drought stress were significantly reduced(P<0.05)when *** and ***+*** were used separately,however,the combined treatment of bio-fertilizers had a greater influence on seed germination than the single ***+*** under 30%FC condition resulted in higher increases in stem,root length,and plant dry *** highest uptake of nutrients was observed for the combined treatment of bio-fertilizers under 30%FC ***,the use of *** and ***+***,applied separately or combined,increased tolerance to drought stress in *** by increased germination indices,dry weight,stem length,and root *** of the beneficial effects of PGPR on the growth characteristics of plants under drought conditions and the reduction of negative effects of drought stress,inoculating *** seeds with Azotobacter and Pseudomonas is recommended to improve their growth and development characteristics under drought ***,as an affordable and environmentally friendly method,can improve the production of forage in water-stress rangelands.

Investigation of Hydrous Pyrolysis on Type-Ⅱ Kerogen-bearing Source Rocks from Iran and its Application in Geochemical and Kinetic Analyses of Hydrocarbon Products

Hydrous pyrolysis(HP)practiced on type-Ⅱ kerogen-bearing oil shale samples from the Sargelu Formation in the Ghali-Kuh Area,western Iran,using a specially designed apparatus was performed at different temperatures(250-350℃),with hydrocarbon generation evaluated at each *** comparison,the samples subjected to Rock-Eval pyrolysis before proceeding to HP resulted in T_(max)=418℃,HI=102,and TOC=4.33%,indicating immaturity and hence remarkable hydrocarbon(especially oil)generation potential,making them appropriate for ***,the samples were deposited in a low-energy reductive marine environment,with maximum oil and gas generation(739 mg and 348 mg out of50 g of rock sample,respectively)observed at 330℃ and 350℃,*** oil generated at 330℃ was subjected to gas chromatography(GC)and isotopic analyses to assess hydrocarbon quality and *** hydrocarbon generation data was devised to estimate kinetic indices of the Arrhenius equation and to investigate the gas-oil ratio(GOR)and overall conversion *** on the producible hydrocarbon quantity and quality,the findings contribute to the economic assessment of oil shales across the study *** developed kinetic model indicates the history of hydrocarbon generation and organic matter(OM)maturity.

Selective monotetrahydropyranylation of symmetrical diols using P_20_5/Si0_2 under solvent-free conditions and their depyranylation

Selective protection of one of the hydroxyl group in 1, n-symmetrical diols is achieved by P2O5/SiO2-catalyzed reaction of the diol with dihydropyran under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. This selective protection is simple and it occurred under economically cheap conditions in high yield. The deprotected diol is simply obtained by refluxing of this compound in methanol using the same catalyst without any byproduct formation or additional purifications.
