The combined effects of farm yard manure and boron application on growth,and oil quality of Canola grown under newly reclaimed soils

Two field experiments were conducted during the main seasons of 2021/2022 at the Research and Production Station of National Research Centre in Egypt to investigate the effects of farmyard manure(FYM)and boron on Canola growth,yield,oil yield,and *** results unequivocally demonstrated that the combined application of FYM at a rate of 14.4 ton ha^(-1)with a foliar spray of boron at 100 ppm positively influenced plant characteristics,leading to enhanced growth rates and higher yields compared to the control ***,this integrated approach significantly improved nutrient content by enhancing levels of oil content,carbohydrates,proteins,phenolics,flavonoids,and total soluble *** findings provide compelling evidence that utilizing farm manure along with boron can effectively enhance Canola properties in newly reclaimed soils while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Influence of phosphocompost application on phosphorus availability and uptake by maize grown in red soil of Ishigaki Island, Japan

Phospho compost application is important with respect to soil fertility and plant nutrition. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the influence of phospho compost application on P availability and uptake by maize in red soil. The phosphorus applied in the form of phospho compost, as compare to rock phosphate and super phosphate at a rate of 50 and 100 mg P2O5 Kg-1 soil. The application was done as spot and mix application. Results indicate that, spot application of 100 mg P2O5 kg-1 soil as phospho compost (b) registered significantly higher P uptake (2.1 and 5.31 mg·pot-1) and available soil P (19.1 and 21.0 mg·kg-1) as compare to Rock Phosphate alone (0.60 and 0.97 mg·pot-1) and (5.6 and 6.0 mg·kg-1) at 30 and 60 day after sowing, respectively. The probable chelating effect from phospho composting increased the phosphorus use efficiency and resulted into higher relative agronomic efficiency in phospho compost (b) spot application (40%) over mix application (15%). The dry matter yield had positive and significant correlation with available P in soil and P uptake by maize plants at 30 and 60 day after sowing. Results concluded that phospho compost enriched with FYM was most effective in increasing phosphorus availability in red soil and increasing dry matter yield of maize plants.

Assessment cultivated period and farm yard manure addition on some soil properties, nutrient content and wheat yield under sprinkler irrigation system

This study examined changes in some soil hydrophysical, chemical properties and wheat yield (grain;straw yield, N, P, K, Protein and carbohydrates contents) as trends under two cultivated period 10 and 25 year and Farm Yard manure (FYM) addition under sprinkler irrigation system on a newly reclaimed soils, Nubaria, Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Obtained results noticed that cultivation period has more pronounced effect than FYM addition on soil water content at field capacity, wilting point and available water with increase percent 15.1%, 9.3%;19.0% and 25.7%, 19.5% and 30.0% for FYM and cultivation period comparing with control one. Hydraulic conductivity values were strongly affected by cultivation period and FYM addition and significantly decreased values by about 18.9% and 12.1% in same sequences. Wheat straw content from protein had a superior effect under 25 than 10 years cultivated periods with values 61.9 and 6.7 comparing with control, respectively as affected by FYM addition, while FYM alone improved protein content in straw by about 31.9% comparing with untreated one. Slightly increase in straw protein content was attained relative to the increase of cultivated period by about 7.8%. Nutrients content in grain is more than FYM, where the increase percentage were 5.2%, 13.5%;3.8% and 26.5, 21.3;22.6 comparing cultivated periods 25 with 10 years and FYM addition with control, respectively. FYM individually under two studied cultivated periods is more effective under 10 years (28.0%, 25.2%;15.1%) than the 2nd one (25.1%, 25.2%;15.1%) comparing with untreated FYM plots. While N, P and K content in wheat straw had unclear trend and the increase were 6.8, 23.23;56.5% and 62.9, 6.0;29.8 as a result of FYM addition under 10 and 25 years cultivated periods, respectively. Impact of Irrigation Water Salinity on Germination and Seedling Growth of Egyptian Barley Cultivars

The aim of this research was to assess the influence of saline irrigation water which prepared to obtain salt stress of 0.31,3.21,5.74,8.28 and 12.86 dS/m on seed germination,and early seedling growth of 10 cultivars(Giza 123,124,125,126,127,129,130,134,135 and 2000)of Egyptian barley grown in clay loam *** was tested in germination cups filled with clay loam soil moistened with different concentrations of saline water,in the growth chambers *** indicated that,the highest values of germinated seeds were recorded mainly at fresh water(0.31 dS/m)at all germination ***,the maximum values were recorded at investigated barley cultivars Giza 126,127 and 2000 for three studied periods(3,5 and 7 d),while Giza 129,130 and 135 got the same trend where the highest values for germinated seeds attained at the 5 d,7 d and at 3 d were 9.5 seeds,*** cultivar Giza 126 had significantly higher root length(4.07 cm),shoot length(11.75 cm),root fresh weight(48.2 mg),shoot fresh weight(101.1 mg),root dry weight(7.1 mg),shoot dry weight(6.6 mg)and seedling vigor index(13.44).The 6 kDa protein bands had the same increasing after salt stress in cultivars Giza 123,127,129,134 and *** cultivars in clay soil can be classified into barley cultivars Giza 126,127 and 2000 as highly tolerance and barley cultivar Giza 129,123 and 127 as moderately tolerance and the rest is less.
