This paper presents a new optimisation approach for variance within a supply chain management *** approach is presented by the variance cube of purchasing(VCP)that involves a lean method for variance optimisation,namely the cost and variance driver *** approach focuses on the optimisation and the control of existing process variance within the supply *** application of the cube is presented by a case study involving a globally acting Tier 1 supplier,who produces steering systems for passenger cars and commercial *** this case,the sourcing process of this Tier 1 supplier will be analysed,evaluated and optimised regarding *** variance is presented in the form of the number of suppliers who are involved in the sourcing *** existing process variance,like an unnecessary huge number of suppliers within the sourcing process,is a type of ***,money,quality and technology can be saved through a greater understanding of the optimal number of suppliers within a sourcing *** results of the case study led to a generalised method to optimise the existing process variance,present cost improvements as well as optimising the key performance indicator to manage the number of suppliers in the sourcing *** general approach can be used for other company departments like logistics and for different industries other than *** insights of this article support the operative user and the strategic company management in order to reduce and improve unnecessary variance in different *** structured analysis of supply chain process variance via the VCP and the key performance indicator“optimal supplier number per sourcing process”are new to company management.

Poly(4-vinylpyridinium) perchlorate has been used as an efficient solid acid catalyst for the synthesis of 3,3'-(arylmethylene)bis(4-hydroxycoumarins) and bis(indolyl)methanes, with the products being formed in excellent yields over very short reaction times under mild and environmentally friendly conditions. This catalyst can be reused several times without any appreciable loss in its activity.

Brick kiln is well known as one of the main sources of air pollution;however,the pollutants produced from it do not remain in the air,they ultimately fall down to the soil and pollute the surroundings,therefore,this study was carried out to assess the status of macro(N,P,K and S)and micro nutrients(Fe,Mn and Zn,Cu)in the agricultural environment near the brick kilns of Young Brahmaputra and Jamuna Floodplain *** soil and plant samples were collected from four distances such as 250 m,500 m,1000 m,and 1500 m in three different ***(2352-3378 mg kg^-1),Zn(86-156 mg kg^-1)and Cu(24.7-46.9 mg kg^-1)are found in the elevated levels near brick kiln soils that is released due to burning of poor quality coal and fire *** alarming news is that plant uptake of S and micro nutrients in the nearest areas of the brick kilns are significantly higher than the areas far from the brick production and their concentration ranges from 23 mg kg^-1 to 101 mg kg^-1 for Zn,10-41 mg kg^-1 for Cu,35-1309 mg kg^-1 for Fe,26-126 mg kg^-1 for Mn and 2590-mg kg^-1 for *** indicates both soil and plant received maximum amount of micronutrients and S concentrations within 500-1000 m distances from brick *** and Mn concentrations vary within a permissible limit but the plant uptake is *** concentrations is increasing with the distance from the brick kilns in both soils and plants but no definite pattern of P and K accumulation was *** suggested avoiding agricultural practice nearby brick kiln soils due to micronutrient contamination in order to preserve adjoined agricultural environment.

A numerical study of propagation of cohesive fluid mud gravity currents in the form of lock-exchange was done using the OpenFOAM open source *** Eulerian approach solution for three separate phases was developed by incorporating a rheological model to predict the front position of cohesive fluid mud gravity *** model also simulates features in the complete movement phases including slumping,self-similar,and viscous in which the dynamics of propagation are affected by the balance of viscous and buoyancy forces,and the inertia force is *** influence of using different turbulence models containing sub-grid scale(SGS),modified SGS,detached eddy simulation(DES),delayeddetached eddy simulation(DDES),Launder-R eece-Rodi(LRR),and k-ε models on the accuracy of simulation results was evaluated by comparing with available experimental *** results show that the selection of the proper turbulence model is one of the most important issues for this type of the numerical *** more efficient turbulence model was suggested and tabulated for each stage of propagation and different selected concentrations of 1,045,1,140,and 1,214 g/*** different turbulence models(except k-ε) lead to front propagation dynamic simulation results that are in good agreement with the experimental measurements in the early stage of propagation for low concentrations,only DES,SGS,and modified SGS are able to capture the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability vortex shapes at the dense fluid interface,which is the main characteristic of the gravity current through the slumping *** calculated accuracies of SGS and modified SGS in predicting gravity current propagation for the both self-similar and viscous phases also are slightly better than DES,DDES,and LRR model *** results of this study confirmed the performance and efficiency of the modified SGS model in which the interaction coefficients between phases are calibrated for the numerical modeling of fluid mud

Economic dependence of rural people on homestead forestry in Mymensingh, Bangladesh

Homestead forests contribute substantially to the rural econ- omy of Bangladesh. Rural people depend on trees and plants for their energy usage, housing, food and other forms of subsistence livelihood. In order to identify the potential role of forests on homestead dwellers, an empirical field investigation was conducted in the four Upazilas of My- mensingh district of Bangladesh. It was found that land holdings of the respondents within the four sites are the highest in Mymensingh. The study made an important observation that among all homestead vegeta- tion between 5-6 years old, tree species are generally preferred over plants. This is perhaps due to the efforts of the social forestry extension service to demonstrate that planting trees is an important long-term in- vestment. In all four Upazilas, there was a significant correlation between household annual income and homestead forestry, agriculture and fisher- ies practice, suggesting that higher income families tend to have larger holdings of homesteads, farms and pond areas. Three Upazilas displayed a strong positive relationship （nearly 45%） between homestead forest areas and annual family income; however, the Fulbaria Upazila showed a very poor relationship （0.2%） in this regard. The results of this study suggest that homestead forests play a positive role in the rural economy, in addition to helping mitigate the increasing problem of deforestation in Bangladesh.

Deep learning has shown potential in domains with large-scale annotated ***,manual annotation is expensive,time-consuming,and ***-level annotations are particularly costly for semantic segmentation in images with dense irregular patterns of object instances,such as in plant *** this work,we propose a method for developing high-performing deep learning models for semantic segmentation of such images utilizing little manual *** a use case,we focus on wheat head *** synthesize a computationally annotated dataset—using a few annotated images,a short unannotated video clip of a wheat field,and several video clips with no wheat—to train a customized U-Net *** the distribution shift between the synthesized and real images,we apply three domain adaptation steps to gradually bridge the domain *** using two annotated images,we achieved a Dice score of 0.89 on the internal test *** further evaluated on a diverse external dataset collected from 18 different domains across five countries,this model achieved a Dice score of *** expose the model to images from different growth stages and environmental conditions,we incorporated two annotated images from each of the 18 domains to further fine-tune the *** increased the Dice score to *** result highlights the utility of the proposed approach in the absence of large-annotated *** our use case is wheat head segmentation,the proposed approach can be extended to other segmentation tasks with similar characteristics of irregularly repeating patterns of object instances.

Prediction of Henry's constant in polymer solutions using PCOR equation of state coupled with an activity coefficient model

In this paper,the polymer chain of rotator(PCOR) equation of state(EOS) was used together with an EOS/G^E mixing rule(MHV1) and the Wilson's equation as an excess-Gibbs-energy model in the proposed approach to extend the capability and improve the accuracy of the PCOR EOS for predicting the Henry's constant of solutions containing *** results of the proposed method compared with two equation of state(van der Waals and GC-Flory) and three activity coefficient models(UNIFAC,UNIFAC-FV and Entropic-FV) indicated that the PCOR EOS/Wilson's equation provided more accurate *** interaction parameters of Wilson's equation were fitted with Henry's constant experimental data and the property parameters of PCOR,a and b,were fitted with experimental volume data(Tait equation).As a result,the present work provided a simple and useful model for prediction of Henry's constant for polymer solutions.

Rice husk ash was used as a new, green, and cheap adsorbent for FeCl3. Characterization of the obtained reagent showed that rice husk ash supported FeCl2·2H2O was formed. This reagent is efficient at catalyzing the synthesis of multisubstituted quinolines by the Friedl鋘der heteroannulation of o‐aminoaryl ketones with ketones or β‐diketones under mild reaction conditions. This methodology allows for the synthesis of a broad range of substituted quinolines in high yields and with excellent regioselectivity in the absence of a solvent.
