To observe the effect of growth hormone on serum leptin levels, serum leptin concentrations were measured by enzyme immunoassay in 12 prebutal children with growth hormone deficiency 1, 3 and 6 months before and after the treatment with recombinant human growth hormone (r hGH). For comparison, 34 normal prepubertal children were also investigated. Relationship between leptin levels and body mass index (BMI) was observed at the same time. Our results showed that serum leptin level in normal prepubertal children was 1.22±0.34 ng/ml; the pretreatment serun leptin levels in GHD children was 3.08±2.41 ng/ml, which was significantly different from those 1, 3 and 6 months after GH treatment (i.e. 1.64±1.37 ng/ml,1.57±1.40 ng/ml and 1.35±0.89 ng/ml respectively) (all P gested that r hGH has a suppressive effect on leptin expression.

BACKGROUND Previous studies have demonstrated the benefits of ideal cardiovascular health(CVH) in reducing cardiovascular ***,its role in subclinical atherosclerosis(SA) progression remains *** aim to examine the association of CVH,estimated by the American Heart Association's new life's Essential 8(LE8),with the progression of *** This prospective cohort study was conducted among 972 asymptomatic Chinese participants and followed up for5.7 *** LE8 score(range,0–100) consisted of blood pressure,lipids,glucose,body mass index,smoking status,diet health,physical activity and sleep health was evaluated in 1998 and 2008–*** of SA was determined by carotid plaque and coronary artery calcification(CAC) in 2008–2009 and 2013–***-binomial regression model was used to estimate the association of LE8 score with SA *** Each 10 points increment in LE8 score was associated with 15.2%(RR:0.848,95% CI:0.797–0.902),17.7%(RR:0.823,95% CI:0.766–0.884) and 12.0%(RR:0.880,95% CI:0.845–0.916) lower risks of carotid plaque,CAC and overall SA progression,*** with participants with non-ideal CVH at both visits,the participants with ideal CVH at both visits had39.1%(RR:0.609,95% CI:0.494–0.752),41.0%(RR:0.590,95% CI:0.456–0.764) and 29.7%(RR:0.703,95% CI:0.598–0.825) lower risks of carotid plaque,CAC and overall SA progression,*** Higher LE8 scores were associated with lower risks of SA ***,long-term maintenance of optimal CVH was more beneficial to prevent SA progression.

Topology optimization of heterogeneous structures can find significant use in a wide range of applications,and its fabrication has been made possible by recent advances in additive ***,the optimization procedure is computationally expensive,as each structural update requires the re-evaluation of the *** computational time is the major limiting factor in large-scale and complex structural *** this study,a convolutional neural network(CNN)model for predicting effective thermal conductivity inspired by the VGG networks is *** using 130,000 unique binary images,the model achieves high predictive ***,it shows a mean absolute percent error(MAPE)of 0.35%in testing when the thermal conductivity of the solid is ten times larger than the fluid,and when the thermal conductivities assigned are that of aluminum and water,the MAPE is 2.35%.The prediction time is 15 ms for a single image with 128×128 pixels,which is 3 to 5 orders of magnitude faster than a finite volume *** employed in topology optimization,the CNN retains a MAPE between 0.67%and 11.8%for different *** CNN model correctly predicts trends in effective thermal conductivity and improves the structure to close proximity of a theoretical maximum in all cases.

Fe-N-doped carbon materials(Fe-N-C)are promising candidates for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)relative to Pt-based catalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).However,the intrinsic contributions of Fe-N_(4)moiety with different chemical/spin states(e.g.D1,D2,D3)to ORR are unclear since various states coexist *** the present work,Fe-N-C core-shell nanocatalyst with single lowspin Fe(Ⅱ)-N_(4)species(D1)is synthesized and identified with ex-situ ultralow temperature Mossbauer spectroscopy(T=1.6 K)that could essentially differentiate various Fe-N_(4)states and invisible Fe-O *** quantifying with CO-pulse chemisorption,site density and turnover frequency of Fe-N-C catalysts reach 2.4×10^(-9)site g^(-1)and 23 e site~(-1)s^(-1)during the ORR,***-wave potential(0.915V_(RHE))of the Fe-N-C catalyst is more positive(approximately 54 mV)than that of Pt/***,we observe that the performance of PEMFCs on Fe-N-C almost achieves the 2025 target of the US department of Energy by demonstrating a current density of 1.037 A cm^(-2)combined with the peak power density of 0,685 W cm^(-2),suggesting the critical role of Fe(Ⅱ)-N_(4)site(D1).After 500 h of running,PEMFCs still deliver a power density of 1.26 W cm^(-2)at 1.0 bar H_(2)-O_(2),An unexpected rate-determining step is figured out by isotopic labelling experiment and theoretical *** work not only offers valuable insights regarding the intrinsic contribution of Fe-N_(4)with a single spin state to alkaline/acidic ORR,but also provides great opportunities for developing high-performance stable PEMFCs.

Let G be a second countable locally compact groupoid with Haar system {λu}, H be a closed subgroupoid containing Go with Haar system {λuH}. *** introduced the C*-Groupoid dynamic system (G, A, α) and its reduced crossed product Cr.d(G, A) in [2], where A is a C*-algebra, α is the homomorphism G→Aut(A). In this paper the author introduces the C*-groupoid dynamic systems (H, A, α|H) and (H\G2, A, α) induced by (G, A, α) and proves that C~*red(H, A) and C~*red(H\G2, A) are strongly Morita equivalent. Moreover the induced representation from C~*red(H, A) to C~*red(G, A) is got.

Somatostatin,a naturally produced neuroprotective peptide,depresses excitatory neurotransmission and exerts anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory effects on the *** this review,we summarize the progress of somatostatin treatment of diabetic retinopathy through analysis of relevant studies published from February 2019 to February 2023 extracted from the PubMed and Google Scholar *** neuroprotection,which occurs as a consequence of declined expression or dysregulation of retinal somatostatin in the very early stages of diabetic retinopathy,triggers retinal neurovascular unit impairment and microvascular *** replacement is a promising treatment for retinal neurodegeneration in diabetic *** pre-clinical and clinical trials of somatostatin analog treatment for early diabetic retinopathy have been *** one such trial(EUROCONDOR),topical administration of somatostatin was found to exert neuroprotective effects in patients with pre-existing retinal neurodysfunction,but had no impact on the onset of diabetic ***,we concluded that somatostatin restoration may be especially beneficial for the growing population of patients with early-stage *** order to achieve early prevention of diabetic retinopathy initiation,and thereby salvage visual function before the appearance of moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy,several issues need to be *** include the needs to:a)update and standardize the retinal screening scheme to incorporate the detection of early neurodegeneration,b)identify patient subgroups who would benefit from somatostatin analog supplementation,c)elucidate the interactions of somatostatin,particularly exogenously-delivered somatostatin analogs,with other retinal peptides in the context of hyperglycemia,and d)design safe,feasible,low cost,and effective administration routes.
