Edge-aware Feature Aggregation Network for Polyp Segmentation

Precise polyp segmentation is vital for the early diagnosis and prevention of colorectal cancer(CRC)in clinical ***,due to scale variation and blurry polyp boundaries,it is still a challenging task to achieve satisfactory segmentation performance with different scales and *** this study,we present a novel edge-aware feature aggregation network(EFA-Net)for polyp segmentation,which can fully make use of cross-level and multi-scale features to enhance the performance of polyp ***,we first present an edge-aware guidance module(EGM)to combine the low-level features with the high-level features to learn an edge-enhanced feature,which is incorporated into each decoder unit using a layer-by-layer ***,a scale-aware convolution module(SCM)is proposed to learn scale-aware features by using dilated convolutions with different ratios,in order to effectively deal with scale ***,a cross-level fusion module(CFM)is proposed to effectively integrate the cross-level features,which can exploit the local and global contextual ***,the outputs of CFMs are adaptively weighted by using the learned edge-aware feature,which are then used to produce multiple side-out segmentation *** results on five widely adopted colonoscopy datasets show that our EFA-Net outperforms state-of-the-art polyp segmentation methods in terms of generalization and *** implementation code and segmentation maps will be publicly at https://***/taozh2017/Efanet.

Quantitative Trait Loci for Yield Traits Located Between Hd3a and Hd1 on Short Arm of Chromosome 6 in Rice

QTLs for heading date located in the regions of Hd3a and Hd1 were detected using an F2:3 population developed from a residual heterozygous line(RHL) identified from the recombinant inbred lines of the indica rice cross Zhenshan 97B /Milyang *** in coupling phase between the QTLs for heading date and yield traits detected in a previous study was *** more F2:3 populations were each developed from an RHL that was homozygous at Hd3a and Hd1 but heterozygous in a portion of the intervals flanked by Hd3a and *** for grain yield per plant,number of panicles per plant,number of grains per panicle and 1000-grain weight were detected in the heterozygous *** sets of near-isogenic lines(NILs) with overlapping heterogenous segments covering the interval RM6119-RM6779 were developed and used to validate and delimitate the QTLs.A QTL conferring a consistent effect for the number of grains per panicle was located within the interval RM19615-RM19652 that corresponded to a 514.4-kb region on chromosome *** same region might have pleiotropic effects on the other three yield-related traits analyzed,but the effects varied greatly among different populations and across different *** study suggests that it is possible to develop a population with little variation on heading date and to identify QTLs for yield traits that might not be associated with heading date by using the information of physical positions of DNA markers and cloned genes.

Dynamic behaviors of graphene platelets-reinforced metal foam piezoelectric beams with velocity feedback control

Graphene platelets(GPLs)-reinforced metal foam structures enhance the mechanical properties while maintaining the lightweight characteristics of metal foams. Further bonding piezoelectric actuator and sensor layers on the surfaces of GPLs-reinforced metal foam beams enables active vibration control, greatly expanding their applications in the aerospace industry. For the first time, this paper investigates the vibration characteristics and active vibration control of GPLs-reinforced metal foam beams with surfacebonded piezoelectric layers. The constant velocity feedback scheme is used to design the closed-loop controller including piezoelectric actuators and sensors. The effects of the GPLs on the linear and nonlinear free vibrations of the beams are numerically *** Newmark-β method combined with Newton's iteration technique is used to calculate the nonlinear responses of the beams under different load forms including harmonic loads,impact loads, and moving loads. Additionally, special attention is given to the vibration reduction performance of the velocity feedback control on the responses of the beam.

Avoidance of Linkage Drag Between Blast Resistance Gene and the QTL Conditioning Spikelet Fertility Based on Genotype Selection Against Heading Date in Rice

Previous study showed that a linkage drag between a blast resistance gene Pi25（t） and QTLs conditioning spikelet fertility （qSF-6） and number of filled grains per panicle （qNFGP-6） was detected on the short arm of chromosome 6. A larger population was used for further verification, and the results confirmed the linkage drag between the blast resistance gene and QTL conditioning spikelet fertility, other than QTL conditioning number of filled grains per panicle. Breakdown or avoidance of the linkage drag could be achieved by selection against the genotype background of a heading-date gene （qHD-7） that resided in the region between RM2 and RM214 on chromosome 7. For further validation, two lines with almost identical genotypes on all chromosomal regions except the Pi25（t） region on chromosome 6 were chosen to develop a new population The results showed that qSF-6 could be further subdivided into qSF-6-1 and qSF-6-2. When the genotype of the region between RM2 and RM214 was from rice variety Zhong 156, the linkage drag between Pi25（t） and qSF-6-2 was detected and the allele of qSF-6-2 from rice variety Gumei 2 reduced the spikelet fertility. When the genotype of the region between RM2 and RM214 was from Gumei 2, no linkage drag was detected. This indicates that the linkage drag between the blast resistance gene and the QTL conditioning spikelet fertility could be broken down or avoided under a certain background genotype selection against heading-date and provides a marker aided solution for high level of blast resistance and yield breeding in rice and other crops as well.

Increased contribution of microbial necromass to soil organic carbon in solar farms on the Tibetan Plateau

Solar farms have been rapidly expanding on the Qinghai-Tibetan ***,the effects of photovoltaic arrays on the contribution of microbial necromass carbon(MNC)to soil organic carbon(SOC),along with the underlying mechanisms,remain *** address this,we collected soil samples from the top 20 cm in under-panel,inter-panel and control plots at five solar farms constructed between 2012 and 2014 in the dry Yarlung Tsangpo and Lhasa River valleys on the Qinghai-Tibetan *** determined SOC,fungal and bacterial necromass and relevant soil *** found that the concentration of MNC in the under-panel plots(3.93±0.79 mg g-1)was significantly higher compared to the control plots(2.28±0.79 mg g-1)across all five solar *** proportion of MNC to SOC in the under-panel plots(34.7±2.4%)was also significantly higher than that in the control plots(27.5±1.4%).Specifically,the contribution of fungal necromass to SOC in the under-panel plots(26.4±2.2%)was significantly larger than that in the control plots(19.7±1.6%),while the increase in the bacterial necromass proportion was *** least squares structural equation modeling(PLS-SEM)indicated a significant and positive effect of increased soil moisture in the under-panel plots on the proportion of fungal necromass to *** results highlight that beyond their economic benefits,solar farms in the arid regions on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau can enhance soil C sequestration by improving soil moisture and promoting microbial necromass accumulation.

Femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction on binocularity for myopia with glasses-free 3D technique

AIM:To evaluate the effect of femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)on the binocular visual function in myopic patients with glasses-free threedimensional(3D)***:Totally 50 myopic patients(39 females and 11 males)with SMILE were enrolled in this prospective *** glasses-free 3D technique was used to evaluate the binocular visual function in these subjects including static stereopsis,dynamic stereopsis,foveal suppression,and binocular balance point of signal to noise ratio(s/n ratio).All subjects received measurements in 1d before operation,and 1d,1wk,and 1mo ***:Both static and dynamic stereopsis showed no significant difference after *** foveal suppression improved significantly 1wk and 1mo after SMILE(P=0.005 and P=0.007 respectively).The binocular balance point of signal to noise ratio showed a significant improvement 1d,1wk and 1mo after SMILE for both eyes(Pye respectively).CONCLUSION:Glasses-free 3D technique can be used to evaluate the effect of SMILE on the binocular visual function in myopic patients perceptively,and SMILE can improve both foveal suppression and binocular imbalance in these patients.

Experimental Study on Geometry Characteristics of Turbulent Premixed Flames for Natural Gas/Air Mixtures

In this study,focusing on the geometry characteristics of spherical expanding flame,the turbulent premixed flames of natural gas/air mixtures were investigated in a fan-stirred turbulent *** effects of initial temperature(T=300-400 K),initial pressure(P=0.1-0.3 MPa),turbulence intensity(u'=1.0-2.7 m/s),oxygen volumetric percentage(φ(O_(2))=15%-21%)and carbon dioxide volumetric percentage(φ(CO_(2))=0-20%)were delved *** flame profile under the Cartesian coordinate system was derived from the schlieren images taken by the high-speed ***,from both macroscopic and microscopic perspectives,the influence of experimental conditions on the flame geometry characteristics was explored through flame front extraction,wavelet decomposition and network *** results demonstrate that for significant flame wrinkling,changes in species concentrations and turbulence intensity have more pronounced effects on the flame wrinkling *** wrinkling of the flame front maintains a certain degree of similarity,as evidenced by the locally concentrated distribution of the angles of the maximum fluctuation *** disturbance energy under large-scale(D6-D8)disturbances exhibits relatively high values with a similar trend,exerting a significant impact on the geometry characteristics of the flame *** peaks of correlation degree are scattered either with the decomposition scale or the development of flame radius,indicating no linear correlation between different detail ***,the probability distribution of node degrees in key wrinkled regions exhibits different trends with that of large-scale wrinkling and disturbance energy,especially with changes in initial *** occurs because the number of key wrinkles varies based on the perturbation's strength or the region's ***,an increase in the fluctuation frequency of the flame's local radius may not necessarily lead to an increase in the number of key folded regions.
