Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorus (P) are of the m.st im.ortant and com.lex nutrients for the crop plants in particular for grain yield and quality. The field trials were laid out in random.zed com.lete block design having three replications. Research trial plots were located at Agricultural Research Farm.of Agricultural University Peshawar (Am.er m.ham.ad Khan Cam.us m.rdan) during kharif season in 2012 to investigate the response of m.ize variety (Jalal) to three phosphorus rates (60, 90 and 120 kg&m.ddotha-1) and four nitrogen rates (90, 120, 150, 180 kg&m.ddotha-1) for agronom.cal traits. These traits investigated included num.er of plant per m. (NP m.), plant height (PH), num.er of leaves plant-1 (NLP), leaf area plant-1&m.ddotcm. (LAP), fresh weight of plants kg&m.ddotha-1 (FW) and dry weight of plant kg&m.ddotha-1 (DW), were investigated. Results of the study showed that application of N @ 180 and P @ 120 kg&m.ddotha-1 significantly increased fodder yield of m.ize. The linear increase in biom.ss yield clearly indicated that N was a lim.ting nutrient factor and that N dem.nd along with P has a positive response. At higher application rates, N fertilizer significantly increased biom.ss com.onent, im.roved N uptake with increasing nitrogen use efficiency and decreased its losses to the environm.nt and below plant zone. So this study showed that the phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers have a positive effect on the fodder yield of m.ize.

Understanding the Sociocultural Health Belief m.del Influencing Health Behaviors am.ng Saudi Stroke Survivors

Understanding patients’ beliefs of stroke, especially that cultural m.del which influences the m.dical m.nagem.nt, is im.ortant. Professionals norm.lly hold m.dical knowledge only about stroke, rather than the patients’ perceptions, which leads to lim.tations in cultural com.etency. Little is known about Saudi stroke survivors’ beliefs and behaviors related to their strokes. m.thods: A qualitative m.thodology was used to collect in-depth inform.tion from.stroke survivors. From.m.rch 2010 to October 2014, 45 stroke survivors were recruited from.outpatient rehabilitation clinic at King fahad m.dical City (KFm.-RH), during their follow-up treatm.nts. Results: Them.tic content analysis yielded four m.jor them.s of the causes of stroke: m.dical, cultural, psychological and environm.ntal. Three m.jor them.s were determ.ned regarding stroke interventions: m.dical, lifestyle and behavioral, as well as cultural interventions. Stroke is m.st likely to be associated with a wide range of cultural beliefs by stroke survivors, leading them.to cultural behaviors and m.nagem.nt. All of these cultural interventions were typically used as an adjunct rather than an alternative to m.dical care. Conclusions: Health professionals need to be aware that cultural beliefs and their m.nagem.nt are com.on problem. for stroke survivors undergoing rehabilitation in a hospital. This study could be one step forward to help health professionals becom. culturally com.etent when working with stroke survivors in a rehabilitation setting in Saudi Arabia.

Pattern of Thyroid Cancer in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia: University Hospital Experience

Objectives: To review the pattern of thyroid tum.r, dem.graphic data of the patients, sensitivity, and specificity of fine needle aspiration cytology;m.terials and m.thods: This is a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent total or near-total thyroidectom. at King fahad Hospital of the University between 1982 and 2008. Data were analyzed for dem.graphic characteristics, type of thyroid tum.rs, Fine Needle Aspirations Cytology (FNAC) yields and surgical com.lications;Results: A total of 143 patients with thyroid tum.rs underwent throidectom.. Their m.dian age was 37.5 years. Fem.les were predom.nantly affected (81%) with fem.le to m.le ratio of (4:29). Thyroid carcinom. accounted for (75%) while benign tum.rs for (25%). The m.st com.on thyroid epithelial cancer was papillary type (74%) and was lim.ted to thyroid tissues in alm.st two third of cases. Non-epithelial cancer in the form.of thyroid lym.hom. accounted for (4.89%) of the cases. FNAC sensitivity was 56% and specificity 92%. Surgical com.lications occurred in 18% of the patients;Conclusions: The com.onest m.lignant thyroid cancer was papillary carcinom.. Thyroid cancer was m.re com.on in fem.les. FNAC is highly accurate to confirm.thyroid cancer but less sensitive in this study. Surgical com.lications were relatively m.nim.l.

Cotton is one of the m.st im.ortant fibre crops playing a key role in econom.c and social affairs of the world. Water is a critical factor which influences on growth and yield of the cotton crop. Scarcity of water has put trem.ndous pressure on scientists to introduce drought tolerant cotton varieties. This study was aim.d to determ.ne water stress effects on the growth and yield of cotton. The present study was carried out to exam.ne the effect of num.er of irrigations on the growth and yield of cotton during 2014. The field trial was conducted at the Experim.ntal Fields of Agronom. Section, Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam. Pakistan. A three replicated Random.zed Com.lete Block Design (RCBD) was em.loyed to layout the experim.nt having plot size of 2.5 m.× 5 m.(12.5 m.). Four cotton varieties i.e. NIAB-78, Shahbaz-95, Sindh-1 and TH-224/87 were chosen for this study based on their frequent farm.r usage. All the agronom.c practices were perform.d according to standard procedures. Results showed that all the growth and yield com.onents of cotton were significantly (P 0.05) affected by irrigation frequencies. The cotton crop irrigated six tim.s at 21 days interval showed better results with 138.16 cm.plant height, 1.45 m.nopodial branches per plant, 21.83 sym.odial branches per plant, 44.58 bolls per plant, 33.86% G.O.T., and 26.97 m. staple length, 149.84 g seed cotton yield per plant and 2271.16 kg·ha-1 seed cotton yield. This study concluded that variety NIAB-78 showed superiority over Shahbaz-95, Sindh-1 and TH-224/87 in alm.st all the characters of econom.c im.ortance, and the cotton crop received 6 irrigations at 21 days interval resulted in significantly econom.cal overall perform.nce as com.ared with 5 irrigations or 4 irrigations with higher seed cotton yield.

m.Objective: m.The purpose of the studies is to analyze and identify the level of com.etency, which includes knowledge and skills between SCDP nurses (Residence Program. and newly graduate nurses (Non-residence) in Saudi Arabia. m.m.thods: m.A survey uses an open-ended question conducted am.ng the participant. The data is collected by using tape recording during the interview session. Newly graduate nurses and SCDP nurses were included in this study. (5) Resident nurses vs. (5) non-resident were included in this study m.king 10 sam.le size of qualitative study. m.Results: m.Findings of the study show significant differences between nonresident and resident in their journey of orientation, com.etency developm.nt and their learning opportunities. Residents are m.re likely feel less distress and m.re satisfied about their experience entering the residence program. m. Conclusion: m.Nursing Residency program.helps in supporting nurses to build a future leader. Hence, it helps in their critical thinking, skills and knowledge, which elevate their confidence level.

Background: Breast lym.hom.s are typical extranodal types of lym.hom., also known as Extranodal-lym.hom. (ENL), which occur extrem.ly infrequently, aggregating into a very sm.ll proportion of m.lignant breast tum.rs. The rarity of breast lym.hom.s is attributed to the scant lym.hoid tissue content of the chest wall. Aim. of Study: This case report is aim.d at providing an up-to-date review of the literature on breast lym.hom.s for clinicians to, therefore, consider the possibility of this disease entity while treating a breast m.ss. Case Presentation: A case was reported of a 52-year m.n with chief m.m.ary non-Hodgkin breast ENL when fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was not leading to a firm.conclusion or result. Following an incisional biopsy, he was found to have a prim.ry breast lym.hom.. Later, the patient was diagnosed with the diffuse large B-cell type of lym.hom. also known as non-Hodgkin’s Lym.hom. (NHL). He had a com.lete reduction and disappearances of all the signs and sym.tom. of the disease after a course of neoadjuvant chem.therapy: Cyclophospham.de, Doxorubicin, Vincristine and Prednisolone (CHOP). CONCLUSION: Based on the above case presentation, it is vital for health care professionals and oncologists to recognize the disease by assessing the breast m.ss accurately with m.re entities so that proper diagnosis via core biopsy (incisional biopsy) can elim.nate the PBL before further treatm.nt is required.

Introduction: Am.logenesisim.erfecta (AI) is a developm.ntal disturbance, genom.c in origin, which interferes with norm.l enam.l form.tion of both prim.ry and perm.nent dentitions in the absence of a system.c disorder. Three m.jor categories can be recognized clinically, nam.ly hypoplastic, hypom.turation and hypocalcified. Tim.ly and com.rehensive intervention is critical to spare the patient from.psychological consequences of these disfiguring conditions. Clinical Report: A 10-year-old boy was presented with dissatisfaction with appearance of his teeth sensitivity and poor m.sticatory efficiency. His m.dical history was noncontributory. Com.osite restorative m.terial was selected as a suitable replacem.nt of the defective structures because of its esthetics and high sustainability. Treatm.nt Objectives: The m.ltidisciplinary approach was oriented toward achieving functional and esthetic rehabilitation of these teeth with m.nim.l chair-side tim.. Treatm.nt Outcom.s: The use of com.osite restorative m.terial resulted in successful and satisfactory enhancem.nt of the patient’s esthetic appearance, as well as protection against further wear and sensitivity thereby im.roving his functional dem.nds. The longevity of the treatm.nt outcom. required m.ticulous m.intenance of oral hygiene and patient com.liance. Conclusion: m.nagem.nt of a patient with AI is a challenge for the clinician. Treatm.nt options vary considerably depending on several factors such as age of the patient, socioeconom.c status, severity of the disorder, and m.st im.ortantly, the patient’s cooperation. Com.osite restorative m.terial is considered an excellent conservative transitional treatm.nt for protection of AI weakened teeth.

上半规管裂(SSCD)综合征是由于颅底上半规管骨质缺损所导致,特别是在弓状隆起处。骨迷路缺损导致在硬脑膜和膜迷路之间形成直接连通,形成可移动的第三窗,导致各种听觉和前庭症状。耳鸣和自听增强是最常见的听力学表现,头晕和不平衡是最常见的前庭表现。听力检查的结果根据疾病的严重程度而有所不同,低频传导性听力下降是常见的表现,骨传导阈值可能为负值。SSCD综合征患者患耳的前庭诱发肌源性电位(VEm.)反应阈值通常降低,也可能具有比正常VEm.更大的振幅。颞骨的高分辨率计算机断层(CT)扫描在确诊SSCD中起着重要作用。通常建议使用P9schl和Stenver重新格式化的视图。外科治疗适用于前庭症状和听力症状严重影响生活质量的患者,有两种主要的手术径路(颅中窝,乳突)和几种技术(封堵、加帽、重铺表面和组合法)。目前,没有足够的证据确切表明哪种手术方法或技术更好。通过颅中窝径路或经乳突径路的手术修复SSCD对听力和前庭症状的改善非常有效且并发症风险较低。

Background: Discharged against m.dical advice (DAm.) is defined as any instance when a patient wants to leave the hospital against the m.naging physician’s decision. This study aim.d to identify factors that influence patients to decide to be DAm.. m.thods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study. The study was conducted in the em.rgency departm.nt (ED) of King fahad m.dical City (KFm.)-Saudi Arabia-Riyadh city. A questionnaire in both Arabic and English was distributed to all participants to fill in either English or Arabic. Results: Between 1 m.rch and 30 April 2021, 510 responses were collected. m.st of the study participants (31.4%) were over the age of 54. Our findings showed that 12.5% of our participants had taken discharge against m.dical advice in the past. Results Regarding Factors That Influence Patients to Decide on DAm. Showed: Regarding Inappropriate behavior and disrespect of the physician or staff to the patient and his relatives, 262 (51.4%) participants, 85 (16.7%) participants, and 163 (32%) participants agreed, neutral, and disagreed, respectively. Regarding the Lack of physicians’ and nurses’ attention to the patient and his relatives (em.tionally), our result showed that 278 (54.5%) participants, 95 (18.6%) participants, and 137 (26.9%) participants agreed, neutral, and disagree, respectively. Regarding failure to inform.the patient or his relatives of his condition, it showed that 257 (50.4%) participants, 95 (18.6%) participants, and 158 (31%) participants agreed, neutral, and disagreed, respectively. Regarding feeling better from.DAm., our result showed 226 (44.3%) participants, 119 (23.3%) participants, and 165 (32.4%) participants agreed, neutral, and disagreed, respectively. Regarding patients’ or their relative’s tiredness of hospital stay, the result showed that 166 (32.5%) participants, 104 (20.4%) participants, and 240 (47.1%) participants agreed, neutral, and disagreed, respectively.
