Wind power is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy sectors instrumental in the ongoing decarbonizationprocess. However, wind turbines are subjected to a wide range of dynamic loads which can cause more frequentfailures and downtime periods, leading to ever-increasing attention to effective Condition Monitoring *** this paper, we propose a novel unsupervised deep anomaly detection framework to detect anomalies in windturbines based on SCADA data. We introduce a promising neural architecture, namely a Graph ConvolutionalAutoencoder for Multivariate Time series, to model the sensor network as a dynamical functional graph. Thisstructure improves the unsupervised learning capabilities of Autoencoders by considering individual sensormeasurements together with the nonlinear correlations existing among signals. On this basis, we developeda deep anomaly detection framework that was validated on 12 failure events occurred during 20 months ofoperation of four wind turbines. The results show that the proposed framework successfully detects anomaliesand anticipates SCADA alarms by outperforming other two recent neural approaches.

AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of a heavy silicone oil(Densiron 68) in the management of inferior retinal detachment ***: A retrospective non-comparative consecutive case series study. Forty-nine cases of complex inferior retinal detachment were treated using Densiron 68 heavy silicone oil(HSO) as the endotamponade. Our main purpose was anatomic reattachment following Densiron 68 removal. Functional outcomes, rate of recurrences, the presence of inflammatory complications and intraocular pressure alterations were evaluated. RESULTS: Forty-nine patients affected by complex retinal re-detachment were recruited. The mean follow-up was 7.6(±1.5) mo. The mean best corrected visual acuity after Densiron 68 removal was 0.95 log MAR, standard error(SE: 0.068). Retinal reattachment was 61.2% after first surgery and 81.6% after second surgery. Nineteen cases(38.8%) had recurrences when intraocular heavy silicon oil was in situ, 26.3%(5 cases) of which involved the inferior retina. CONCLUSION: Densiron 68 efficiently fills the inferior retinal periphery and might lower the risk of inferior proliferative vitreoretinopathy development, in particular after a standard silicon oil tamponade that reduces the proliferative process in the upper quadrants of the retina.

In the warm summer of 2017,a landslide failed from the south-east side of the Col des Clochettes on the top of the underlying Trajo *** study area is at an elevation of about 3500 m *** the Gran Paradiso Massif and can be hardly reached by walking from Cogne(Aosta Valley,NW Italy).Studies conducted by field surveys,photogrammetry(structure from motion)and satellite images analysis,integrated with the evaluation of data from meteorological stations have been used to reconstruct the phenomenon and infer its *** site is very complex to be studied especially due to logistic problems,therefore,measurements and observations that are common practice in other landslides are very difficult to apply ***,many of the results achieved are not adequately supported by field ***,the following factors could have affected the stability of the slope:i)the tectonic structure of the area,which is reflected on the morphology and on the geomechanics characteristics of the rock masses;ii)the meteorological conditions during 3 months before the main failure,resulting in an extremely high temperature compared to historical ***,the analysis of multitemporal satellite images allowed to recognize that it was not a single landslide but that the phenomenon is articulated over time in at least five failures in about 2 ***,several predisposing factors may have been playing an important role in causing the instability:the degradation of permafrost(probably affecting rock mass due to the circulation of warm air and water in the discontinuity systems),the alternance of the freeze-thaw cycles and the availability of a considerable amount of water from rainfalls and nival fusion infiltrating deeply in the rock *** common causes such as rains and earthquakes have been excluded.

This work proposes a numerical investigation on the effects of damage on the structural response of Reinforced Concrete(RC)bridge structures commonly adopted in highway and railway *** effective three-dimensional FE-based numerical model is developed to analyze the bridge’s structural response under several damage scenarios,including the effects of moving vehicle *** particular,the longitudinal and transversal beams are modeled through solid finite elements,while horizontal slabs are made of shell *** phenomena are also incorporated in the numerical model according to a smeared approach consistent with Continuum Damage Mechanics(CDM).In such a context,the proposed method utilizes an advanced and efficient computational strategy for reproducing Vehicle-Bridge Interaction(VBI)effects based on a moving mesh technique consistent with the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE)*** proposed model adopts a moving mesh interface for tracing the positions of the contact points between the vehicle’s wheels and the bridge *** modeling strategy avoids using extremely refined discretization for structural members,thus drastically reducing computational *** analyses in terms of damage scenarios are presented to verify how the presence of damage affects the natural frequencies of the structural *** addition,a comprehensive investigation regarding the response of the bridge under moving vehicles is developed,also providing results in terms of Dynamic Amplification Factor(DAFs)for typical design bridge variables.

We estimate Love wave empirical Green＇s functions from cross-correlations of ambient seismic noise to study the crust and uppermost mantle structure in Italy. Transverse-component ambient noise data from October 2005 through March 2007 recorded at 114 seismic stations from the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia （INGV） national broadband network, the Mediterranean Very Broadband Seismographic Network （MedNet） and the Austrian Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics （ZAMG） yield more than 2 000 Love wave group velocity measurements using the multiple-filter analysis technique. In the short period band （5-20 s）, the cross-correlations show clearly one-sided asymmetric feature due to non-tmiform noise distribution and high local activities, and in the long period band （〉20 s） this feature becomes weak owing to more diffusive noise distribution. Based on these measurements, Love wave group velocity dispersion maps in the 8-34 s period band are constructed, then the SH wave velocity structures from the Love wave dispersions are inverted. The final results obtained from Love wave data are overall in good agreement with those from Rayleigh waves. Both Love and Rayleigh wave inversions all reveal that the Po plain basin is resolved with low velocity at shallow depth, and the Tyrrhenian sea is characterized with higher velocity below 8 km due to its thin oceanic crust.

In most eukaryotes,oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS)is the main energy production process and it involves both mitochondrial and nuclear *** close interaction between the two genomes is critical for the coordinated function of the OXPHOS *** bivalves show doubly uniparental inheritance(DUI)of mitochondria,where two highly divergent mitochondrial genomes,one inherited through eggs(F-type)and the other through sperm(M-type),coexist in the same ***,it remains a puzzle how nuclear OXPHOS genes coordinate with two divergent mitochondrial genomes in DUI *** this study,we compared transcription,polymorphism,and synonymous codon usage in the mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS genes of the DUI species Ruditapes philippinarum using sex-and tissue-specific *** and nuclear OXPHOS genes showed different transcription *** co-transcription signal was observed within mitochondrial(separate for F-and M-type)and within nuclear OXPHOS genes but the signal was weak or absent between mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS genes,suggesting that the coordination between mitochondrial and nuclear OXPHOS subunits is not achieved ***-Kreitman and frequency-spectrum based tests indicated that M-type OXPHOS genes deviated significantly from neutrality,and that F-type and M-type OXPHOS genes undergo different selection *** usage analysis revealed that mutation bias and translational selection were the major factors affecting the codon usage bias in different OXPHOS genes,nevertheless,translational selection in mitochondrial OXPHOS genes appears to be less efficient than nuclear OXPHOS ***,we speculate that the coordination between OXPHOS genes may involve post-transcriptional/translational regulation.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) includes a variety of histological conditions (ranging from liver steatosis and steatohepatitis, to fibrosis and hepatocarcinoma) that are characterized by an increased fat content within the liver. The accumulation/deposition of fat within the liver is essential for diagnosis of NAFLD and might be associated with alterations in the hepatic and systemic inflammatory state. Although it is still unclear if each histological entity represents a different disease or rather steps of the same disease, inflammatory processes in NAFLD might influence its pathophysiology and prognosis. In particular, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (the most inflamed condition in NAFLDs, which more frequently evolves towards chronic and serious liver diseases) is characterized by a marked activation of inflammatory cells and the upregulation of several soluble inflammatory mediators. Among several mediators, cytokines and chemokines might play a pivotal active role in NAFLD and are considered as potential therapeutic targets. In this review, we will update evidence from both basic research and clinical studies on the potential role of cytokines and chemokines in the pathophysiology of NAFLD.

Objective;To determine the presence of zoonotic tick-borne bacteria in feral pigeons(Columba lixia domestica) from urban ***:Spleen samples from 84 feral pigeons,found dead with traumatic injuries in urban areas,were examined by PCR to detect DNA of Anaplasma phagocytophilum,Bartonella spp.,Borrelia burgdorferi sensu *** *** spp.,and Chlamydnphila ***:Twenty(23.8%) pigeons were infected by tick-borne agents,in particular 2(2.38%) animals resulted positive for Bartonella spp.,5(5.95%) for Coxiella burnetii.5(5.95%) for Rickettsia spp.,13(15.47%) for Borrelia burgdorferi sensu *** birds scored negative for anaplasma ***,17(20.23%) pigeons were positive for Chlamydophila *** among them 10(11.9%) for Chlamydophila psittaci,Mixed infections by two or three agents were detected in 8(9.52%) ***:Feral pigeons living in urban and periurban areas are a hazard for the human health as source of several *** obtained results confirm pigeons as reservoirs of chlamydial agents and suggest that they may be involved in the epidemiology of zoonotic tick-borne infections too.

Shape memory composites(SMCs)combine mechanical performances of composite materials with functional behavior of shape memory *** can be used to produce the external frame of self-deployable solar sails with very low weight in comparison with traditional composite ***,heat activation is necessary for deploying instead of complex mechanical *** this study,the mechanical behavior of a solar sail with SMC frame is simulated by means of finite element *** considerations are made on sail deployment configuration,size/weight ratio of solar sails,and SMC *** experimental activity has been also performed to provide suitable candidates for the composite laminates of the SMC *** and instrumented recovery tests have been carried out on 2-plies carbon-fiber laminates with a shape memory interlayer.
